So ... my dog has terrible gas
and it makes my eyes water when she hangs out indoors. Any ideas? Can dogs have beano?
She hasn't changed food or anything, so I'm a bit lost for the sudden ... output. It so cold outside so I don't think she needs to be out there right now. |
She might be sick. I know, doggy farts are the worste. But take her to the vet if it doesn't improve.
|
yea it could easily be diet, I know the dog hasnt changed diets, but its biology could have changed, that's how it was with our dog, we had to change his diet till it went away
|
It stinks in more way than one. Dogs can't complain, it may be a health problem. Can you phone your vet and ask without a billion dollar dog?

I tried Beano my dog. It didn't help much until she was getting 4 times the human dosage.
Air freshener is much cheaper, that and stop feeding the dog hard-boiled eggs. |
Enh. Just blame it on your brother or something.

I actually had to look this information up for a patron at the library I work for not to long ago. Mixing some low-fat yogurt in with the dogs normal food can cut the gas. |
Our old dog's farts used to smell like Cheerios.. It was NASTY. Poor old Sandy. I loved that dog :(

A friend of mine would try to out stink his dog.. so far my friend has made the dog think he pooped on himself twice.. Sad situation, but extremely funny.

Often eating bones will make them smell bad - you been giving the dog a bone?
|
She has a nylon bone, tuffrr, but would that really mess her up?
|
I had an animal nutrition lecture today about the dog's GI tract, anyway. Try cutting out the fiber in his diet, if you give him feed that has more animal than plant products it can help. If you really want to be informed check out the National Research Counsil's guidelines. They publish these for livestock feed, they might also do it for dogs.

we had an older dog who was very flatulent. at the pet store (at least at petco) in the vitamins section, there's a bottle of tablets you can buy. i forget the name now, but it really did help a lot.
i miss my good ol' stinky boy... i don't miss his farts, but i miss him. |

Since we now know this, she is much nicer to be around. Nothing like a long car ride with a gassy puppy. |

I am so glad to know that I am not the only one with this experience. I recently change them from a lamb and rice formula to that new Beneful. It no longer smells like cheerios but is much worse. But, they are eating better and happier, so I can live with it. Except when I wake up with one of them sleeping on the bed. |
This thread is freakin hilarious!!! I don't know what to add to make it any more funny!
|
ewwww.. u can always bring it in and get it checked? try changing the food..

I have an English Bulldog who's gas will make your eyes water and its hard not to gag when he lets loose one of his air biscuits. I have tried everything including beano and nothing seemed to work to well. I think its just the nature of the breed. Try the beano though, maybe it will work for you, it wont heart the dog. Happy Smelling!!

Change the dog's diet, fo sho.
Ask the vet what they suggest- sometimes dog food with corn in it can cause problems. |
