Has anyone else found themselves to be thread killers?

I'm not entirely sure if this is the right forum for this but this is a community that I'm living with so I thought I'd express my concerns about my place here, here.

So, am I the only one here who finds themselves to be thread killers? I mean, have you ever found that the instant you post to a thread that thread immediately terminates? And that this happens with every thread you've ever tried to participate on? It's a bit of an exaggeration but it really does feel like a new trend with me on these forums.

I'm wondering if I'm alone on this one or if others have found this about themselves. If you've found yourself with a sudden lack of desire to post in a thread that you were previously quite active in because I've made a post there, please feel free to voice your opinion here. I haven't taken offense to anything anyone has ever said on TFP, I won't start now...

majik_6 02-07-2004 08:17 AM

Although I don't think I've ever had a "sudden lack of desire" to post in a thread you've posted in, I do understand what it feels like to be the ultimate thread killer!

When I first came here, it seemed like every thread I replied to sunk to the botttom immediately. At first it kind of bothered me, but after a while I got used to it, and now, I rarely kill threads at all. Soooo, I'd have to say it's probably not you, it's probably just coincidence. Hang in there, and it'll surely get better.

majik_6 02-07-2004 08:18 AM

Okay, apparently, I hit quickquote instead of quick edit, please overlook this post.

Mods, feel free to zap this extraneous message, if you feel so inclined.

AGREED

The_Dude 02-07-2004 09:34 AM

na dude....its just coincidence.

come to #tfp chat and you see that the chatroom "dies" every once in a while and the last person to say something gets blamed :D.

Wait, are you saying that you agree that sometimes it feels like every post you make kills the thread, or that I'm the top threadkiller of all times? :)

jasonresno 02-07-2004 10:10 AM

Happens to me alot, like one time I will post a really good post I want feedback on, and I'm almost sure I will get replies..an hour later it sinks to the bottom :(. lol.

Rodney 02-07-2004 10:36 AM

It just happens. But it's human nature to think that, because you were the last person on the thread, you're responsible for the ending of it. Kinda like worrying about why streetlights go out right when you walk under them. It just happens.

Kaos 02-07-2004 02:29 PM

Damn...I thought this was only happening to me. Glad to see I'm not alone on this. I was starting to get a complex!

lol... don't worry about it. I find you one of the smarter (well.. in terms of math anyway.. =p) posters around. Always a pleasure to read your posts in Tilted Knowledge.

Perhaps its selective memory. You only remember the posts where no one else replies.

I think i'm a thread sinker too.. =p

skier 02-07-2004 05:13 PM

maybe it's because you give a "solution" of sorts to the issue in the thread, and people feel that with it resolved it does not need to be disscussed anymore. or somethingl

wilbjammin 02-07-2004 05:38 PM

I know the feeling, trust me. So often I think, "here is something good that ought to get some good replies because it is saying something that no one else has said" and then the thread ends or my comment gets no responses and the discussion head in a different direction.

Ah well... it doesn't happen all of the time at least.

Agreed that sometimes it feels like every post you make kills the thread.

guthmund 02-08-2004 01:13 PM

You guys can't possibly kill posts....It's common knowledge that I kill all the posts here at the forum. :)

Sometimes I can do it with just one sentence.

Wait and watch, this thread will now start to slowly sink.

Mephisto2 02-08-2004 08:39 PM

I was gonna comment here, but sheesh... after what YOU GUYS just posted, what's the point?

Wanders off into the ether...

Mr Mephisto

cj22009 02-09-2004 05:59 AM

I have seems like every time I post the thread dies

ShaniFaye 02-09-2004 06:01 AM

that means this ones gonna die too

m2k 02-09-2004 06:39 AM

Not so much at this forum but definitely at others. It's a pretty weird feeling at first.

Dano069 02-09-2004 07:23 AM

Oh, I've felt that way too. I mean, my posts can't be the "be all to end all" answers to questions posed. I think it's like a conversation, the threads have reached their input threashold and no other posts get posted.

Bill O'Rights 02-09-2004 07:27 AM

It will be very interesting to see who "kills" this thread. ;)

watch, it'll be me

jwells777 02-14-2004 11:35 PM

haven't had that problem too much here but at another forum I seem to be a thread killer. I think it has alot to do with jumping in on threads that have already been around a while which I do since I am not generally checking the forums all the time

Supple Cow 02-15-2004 03:22 PM

so is this a contest or is this a contest? ;)

Arbiestsheft04 02-15-2004 04:31 PM

I bet I will win, I'm a lowly newbie.

QuasiMojo 02-15-2004 09:08 PM

watch me now.

ladyadmin 02-16-2004 02:38 AM

I threadkill in the weaponry section. Maybe cause I'm a girl?

rockogre 02-16-2004 06:15 AM

It's probably all coincidence but there are several, (hundred?), threads in which I am the last poster. I feel the same way you do sometimes but it may also be that I am kind of old and opinionated.

Could be that no one wants to poke a rockogre with a sharp stick.

mattevil 02-16-2004 08:09 AM

if we're all thread killers this thread wouldn't get very long. the last post is the winner(and loser)!

Astrocloud 02-16-2004 08:29 AM

It's absolutely the worst when you are also the thread starter and the thread killer... with only one post in the thread.

  Yeah, those are the days when you might just as well have stayed in bed.

KungFuGuy 02-16-2004 10:51 AM

i threadkill occasionaly,

i just have to chalk it up to the shock and awe response due to my grand replies.

greytone 02-16-2004 07:23 PM

See that greyhound in my avatar. It might as well be a vulture, jsut hovering and waiting for the thread to die.

Supple Cow 02-16-2004 10:57 PM

See, now we all want to win. (Or is that just me?) This could turn into a long, ugly thread. :)

Dostoevsky 02-16-2004 11:12 PM

Ha! It is I, Dostoevsky, who is truely the ultimate thread killer. The weight of my deeply thought out replies like this cause threads to sink to the bottom.

KellyC 02-16-2004 11:15 PM

Nope! its actually Kelly!

btw, this could also go to tilted nonsense and be a game. :D

last thread killer wins!

gilada 02-17-2004 09:17 AM

yeah, I've taken out a couple of threads in my time.

Iliftrocks 02-17-2004 10:01 AM

slash bang!!!

yup

kulrblind 02-17-2004 11:24 AM

The (so far) 39 posts have negated the obvious poetically-ironic situation :) Though, I respect everyone's efforts to end KnifeMissle's streak.

buffto 02-17-2004 09:04 PM

no one should have replied to this thread. that would have been funny.

Dostoevsky 02-17-2004 09:16 PM

Yeah, that would have been funny.....

Nothing to see here folks, don't bother replying, just let this one die....

bundy 02-17-2004 11:21 PM

i believe there are a few more thread-killer confessions HERE

I think we're all trying to be the killer inside this thread.

meembo 02-18-2004 08:59 AM

Dead yet?

rmarshall 02-20-2004 10:34 AM

Now that I have killed this thread too, I will be happy. I have had the last word!

Iliftrocks 02-20-2004 11:10 AM

I can't believe I didn't kill this one.....

BuddyHawks 02-21-2004 12:00 AM

I find that when people see that I was the last person to post in a thread, it imediatly becomes flooded with posters wanting to bask in my coolness and be part of the action.

Destrox 02-21-2004 09:06 AM

Yep, I currently have 4 threads being "temporarily killed" with my posting. :) (Actually 5 if noone else replies to this one)

I consider a thread killer post to be a thead that has no replies for a day after posting.

I wouldnt worry about it, shit happens, and i move on.

macmanmike6100 02-21-2004 11:06 PM

Coincidence. I've never been so effected as to read a comment from "KnifeMissle" and think "Fuck, I'm not responding!!"

:-)
