Here's the thing, though. Rape isn't about sex, it's about power.

I know when I was 15, I was testing all SORTS of power dynamics with my parents. I'd prod at their rules just to see what they'd do, they'd respond with bigger than warranted punishments to reign me in, etc...

It's not so hard to imagine this happening just by adding any of a hundred garden-variety mental illnesses to this situation. I mean it's shocking and disgusting and everything, but I can totally understand how it might happen.

Im so confused as to why anyone would do something like that. That is so nasty.

There comes a time when someone is "lost" meaning they can't be rehabilitated. Some people are just born wrong, some get that way due to physical/emotional abuse. There is no data here to tell us what it is. I hope he gets all the help he needs and that they don't release him unless he won't be a danger to society. This is the kind of kid that will murder next if left untreated.

OK, over and above that rape is just bad, and the cultural incest taboo is stronger vis a vis one's mother than just about any other familial combination (Though the whole Kay Parker shower scene might make one reevalute, but I digress), this whole thing just makes me feel, well, icky.
