Britney Spears Madonna wanna be or not?
 

Britney has really come a long way from her school girl uniform. While watching recent Britney videos on tv shes made herself out to be a tramp. I know sex sells but I wish she could come up with her own original ideas. Her sexy outfits and revealing clothing all seem to be modern styles of what Madonna had on in her videos. Just strikes me as odd that Much Music went so far as saying that Christina Aguilera is copying Britney Spears in her dance moves, clothing styles as well as a few other things, while Britney is living life in the spotlight of being a carbon copy of Madonna. Why are they looking down on one and looking up on another. Isnt Britney doing the same thing as Christina?
I also heard another little interesting fact about about Britney. Shes been voted most popular female for 2003 and in the process of announcing her award they threw in that she is behind the creation of the Britney Spears Foundation.

No one can top madonna, that would be like trying to top the beatles, she has just done it all. britney is a wanna be. look for her in 5 years on the where are they now episode on VH-1. she has no creativity. Madonna invented britney, and will continue to invent those poor girls and herself.

britney isn't doing anything new or overly controversial. She might want to be as popular as madonna, but she's just standing on the shoulders on those who first waded into the pool of sex appeal.

Is there really anything original left to do? Maybe she could have a real live gangbang on stage during one of her concerts, but I doubt that the public would stand for that. Maybe in 5 or 10 years, but not right now.

Bah! That girl gets way too much pubilcity still. I've said before and I'll say it again, If we just stop talking about her, SHE WILL DISAPPEAR!!!! The fact that there are at least 2 threads on the first page of GD just goes to show she still has some media play left in her. Just stop posting about it and we'll be one step closer...

Madonna is a well known slut (which isn't a bad thing;) ) and Britney is playing the Virgin Slut card still. I mean yeah she fucked Justin but AFAIK that's it. It makes the tease more powerful if the public thinks she's had one or few partners. She played thevirgonal schoolgirl to kick off her career and now is shifting to musical prostitute in time to her womanhood. All of this is carefully planned out to jerk the chain of the public, and it works. Her new album is like a porn soundtrack. I like most of it for that reason. :o

that website is ugly, but even more the main image of britney is totally inappropriate for a "help the children" kind of website. yeah, the image doesn't reveal anything, but it is suggestive that she has no shirt on. besides it is a crappy lo-res pic to begin with.

and yeah, i think lil britsy is totally riding the coat tails of madonna. she'll never be another madonna, cuz she doesn't have the genius & the drive that madonna has had all along. madonna clawed her way to the top. i'm not saying britney hasn't worked hard, but she just isn't made formed from the same jello mold.

Madonna is a genius -- she knows exactly how and when to change her image and style so that she never gets old. Through reinvention she is perpetually fresh.

I doubt that Britney and her handlers are capable of pulling this off -- her tactic is simply to continually crank up the sluttiness, and there is a limit. People will get bored eventually. Until then the industry will give her as much exposure as possible so as to juice as much $$ from her as possible.

I agree spived2. I've been sick of her since she came out, and it's time people got over their fascination. :)

She draws alot from the Material Girl, but I don't know if she could measure up really.

Personally, I think Madonna used Britney with that whole kiss thing. It was totally done to advantage Madona.

Secondly, I think that (the kiss) was the moment that Britney jumped the shark.

Unless Britney pulls an Alanis Morissette and starts writing (does she even write her own material??) some songs that count, she will be down and out in 2 to 3 years max.

Pop stars come and go quicker than most people change their underwear.

Musical talents don't rely on stunts to get media attention. It's a completely different genre of music. Either Britney makes the leap (I doubt she has the talent or the guts) orelse she is finished and will be doing porn soon.

Make no mistake about it, there is a team of Marketing people helping to guide her career. A lot of Britney's actions and what goes on are not mere coincidences.

She won't do porn...my prediction is she'll have her own talk show or host something on MTV.

I think Madonna is helping to harken in the age of Britney I think she will be the new Madonna with the help of Madanna. Supposidly there really good friends.

Anyways, who better to emulate than Madonna? She has been popular forever. Like a previous poster said, the keeps reinventing herself to the popular culture. Take a look at her early music and image and fast forward in 5 year jumps, she has just changed herself dramically and kept herself in the limelight. Britney is just doing exactly what Madonna did; start cute, turn up the sex appeal and ride the wave until you have to change. I seriously doubt she will have near the staying power though.
