Rank these bio-medical occupations in order of prestige

In no particular order:

Chiropractor
General Practitioner Physician
Physiotherapist
Physician Specialist
General Dentist
Podiatrist
Dentist Specialist
Speech Pathologist
College Professor of Anatomy
Optometrist
Pharmacist

Also, what do you think their salary ranges are? Any correlation?

Just curious.

I would saay that they're all important, and wouldn't want to put one over another. I do, however, recall a study that pharmacists were chosen by an overwhelming majority of people as the most ethical profession, even over clergy (this was before the molestation scandal.)

I honestly have no idea what salary ranges are, but juding by medical professionals I know, I hope they get paid well for the insane amount of work they do (I hear about lots of 80-hour weeks)

Specialists would make the most money out of the lot, if you are thinking wages. Prestige, I think anything in the bio-medical field carries prestige. The medical doctors would likely score more points there though.

Even though some of them make more than pharmacists, lets put Chiropractors right down at the bottom right next to Howard the Duck -Quack-Quack!

General Practitioner Physician
Physician Specialist
Podiatrist
General Dentist
Dentist Specialist
Speech Pathologist
Optometrist
College Professor of Anatomy
Pharmacist
Physiotherapist
Chiropractor

Chiropractors are, in my opinion, on the same level as witch doctors. However, the only ones I know are filthy rich.

I would guess that the Chiropractors probably make the most money as most of the highly paid doctors are specialists of some kind---like brain surgeons or cardiologists.

Chiropractors get no respect. Its just true. They make good money though. Dentists don't get a lot of recongition either it seems. Maybe because their intrusions into our mouths are uncomfortable.

You left out biomedical engineer. I hear they can make any where from 40 to 65 entry level.

I think prestige depends on who you ask. A reasearcher probably thinks reasearchers are more prestigious, while a venture capitalist might hold a proven startup ceo(whole lotta money) with a bootyload of prestige.

Out of curiosity why do you ask?

Interesting...

Now, why do you rank general practioners higher than specialists (in both medicine & dentistry)? And why podiatrists ahead of dentists?

filtherton: I ask because I'm curious, of course. ;)

Another rank of Podiatrist over Dentist (even specialist). I'm surprised... What's the reason for that?

Huh?
