Wilson Wilson dies

Earl Hindman, who played the always-hidden character of Wilson on "Home Improvement," has died.

The cause was lung cancer.

Famous for never being seen.

I'll never forget his "Hydee-Ho Good Neighbor!" :)

Being famous, without being recognized, is probably just a dream
to many high profile stars.

Sadly, the first thing i thought of was when the Simpsons were watching Home Improvement and Tim backed over Wilson with his lawn mower.

"Oh no! I killed Wilson! Looks like it's back to jail for me."

I'm going to hell.

I always liked the wilson character.

I know that it was the writers behind the scene, but still, he did have a way about him.

nirol 01-02-2004 09:46 AM

He also did voice overs for many Home Depot commercials, TV, Radio, and In-store

Yea, I know.....
Who cares

sexymama 01-02-2004 10:06 AM

I really liked that show. And it is always sad when someone leaves this world.

Earl Hindman had one of the most comforting, knowledgable voices that the world has ever known. It amazed me, but he apparently was a major leading role on a soap opera back in the day.

He will be sorely missed.

How strange, I was just sitting here watching re-reuns of "Home Improvement", when i signed onto TFP and saw this topic. He was such a wise and strange character. Always kept Tim in line with his comments, Which of course, Tim always screwed up. I am really sad to hear of his passing. Another of my TV favorites has left the fold. RIP

Oh man...That just made me laugh

Wanna share cab fare to hell? :(

I know! I used to watch that show all the time--I was so sad when the cancelled it. :(

If Wilson were here, I think he'd have something obscure to say, like....

You know, Tim, this reminds me of something Socrates once said...."I drank WHAT???"

Just seemed appropriate.

present_future 01-02-2004 10:41 PM

That show was awesome. He used to always have some sort of philosophical advice to fit whatever situation Tim had gotten himself into.

omega2K4 01-02-2004 10:41 PM

A while back during the reunion of the cast, they showed Wilson's face.

herostar 01-03-2004 08:25 AM

I love that show. Too bad it's not on much any more. Sad to see him go:(

PoteMatic 01-03-2004 11:04 AM

Ive never seen his face and only know his voice from the show and nothing more. Like sexymama said it is always sad when someone passes on.

JohnS72 01-04-2004 12:52 PM

Whenever I watched the show, I'd get a kick out of the times Wilson would make an appearance outside of his backyard and they'd always come up with a creative way to cover up his face. RIP.

silent_jay 01-04-2004 11:24 PM

shitty he was a funny man and will be sadly missed.

moonstrucksoul 01-04-2004 11:28 PM

that is a shame he was a funny guy

Bill O'Rights 01-06-2004 05:41 AM

Hi-dee-ho, rest in peace good neighbor.

jujueye 01-06-2004 08:43 PM

Wow. At 61. Way too young. I think we all hope to live so much longer. But I suppose you never get to really plan your death. When you go, there will be milk in the fridge, a bill or two to pay, and a book you meant to read.
