GIGANTOR!!!
So, like, I got a PS2 for Christmas. Yeah. Cool huh? Well, my TV is like a little pipsqueak of a TV. So, I figure, shit, I need a new TV.
To make a boring story short, I bought a 30" Sony Widescreen HDTV. I wub it. It's got a superb picture and great sound. The funny thing about it, and the whole point of this thread is.. well... http://www.tba-ownz.org/img/gigantor.jpg Can you believe I used to have space on that TV stand? Not to mention the effort it took to get that fucker up the stairs, into my room, out of the box, and ONTO the stand. Have you ever bought something that was just a *liiiiittle* too big for your living quarters? Tell us funny stories. BTW, FFX looks heavenly. |
Nice upgrade. :)
Unfortunately, I haven't had a whole lot of spare cash to buy things that were a little too big for my room. :( |
Hmm.. well when i got a decent job making decent money I moved into an empty apartment with no furniture.. always wanted a pool table so I went out and bought one... it was the only peice of furniture in my tiny living room for about 6 months... because there wasnt room for anything else

Off topic:
Halx, what camera did you use to take that picture? |
A nearly empty 40 gallon aquarium. Still had all the gravel and some of the decorative rocks. Dragged it upstairs one summer after college was over and I was still living at home. If it hadn't been acrylic I think I would have ruptured something.<p>Plain stupid.

A few weeks after I had moved into my current room I got tired of hearing my poor TV stand/two layered book shelf groan under the weight of my television. To relieve my poor piece of furniture of this weight I thought I could instead use another much more sturdy and strong bookcase in the kitchen of my home which was at the time housing a bunch of random junk in the corner of the room. So I unloaded this bookcase, dragged it all the way down the hall, moved my original TV stand out of the way after dumping all the books that had previously littered the shelves onto my bed, and then placed the bookcase in the newly made empty spot, which was the only free space in my room. After pushing it as close as I could to my computer desk, it ended up protruding over my door edge... I couldn't close my fucking door. All that work for nothing. I still have the weak little book shelf that to this day still startles me with almost every creek late at night when I am trying to fall asleep...

Sony has quality televisons. Nice taste......

in college, i helped a buddy get a 60 inch WEGA into his dorm apartment. That fucker weighed at least 500 lbs.. but who can pass up a sale on floor models. He got it for 25% of cost and it was in very good shape. After the third flight of stairs i think i felt something liquify inside..
Damn technology! |
No good story here, sorry!
I just have to say that is one nice tv, Halx! I'm jealous! ;) |
lurkette and I just bought a king size bed to replace the full we've been sleeping in for eight years. I'm pretty concerned about how ANYTHING else is going to fit in our bedroom at all.
It gets delivered a week from Tuesday, so we've got until then to figure out how it's going to fit. |
60 inch televison - bought while in an apartment with large living room area. Decided to buy a house. I had to bring the real estate agent to the apartment to comprehend the size of the TV. After a while I contemplated moving the TV to an open field, and then building a house around it.

Ever since I first started playing them, I wanted to have my drum kit set up in my living space, not only so I could play it, but also because I think a drum kit is a cool looking thing. I had to wait six years for that to come true.
I moved out of home almost a year ago, and after a couple of months, I got the drums up here and set them up. Now my room is full of a double bed and a drum kit. I have to sort of edge round them. I'm now selling the drum kit. Having it set up all the time has made me realise how little I use it. |

My parents bought a 54 inch TV that thing was too big. I had to sit at least 10 feet away so that my eyes could adjust.
|
my 36" WEGA XBR is a huge monster... I can't see getting something larger, but I do want one larger.. like the 40" one...
I'm a fan of the tube, so I'm probably not going to go plasma or Projector anytime soon. great TV you got there. |
Nice choice of tv...are you gonna mod the ps2 ;)
Usually when my parents have something too damn big to fit through a door we have to tear the whole door with the frame to get it to fit. The last big thing I had to move was a huge refrigerator/freezer combo with all the hookups like ice and water. It was a factory second fridge and my mom got it for half price so it had to fit in the house.....my dad's cousin had to cut alot of wood out of the cabinetry to get it to barely fit. |
My Sony monitor is 21" and 80 pounds. I had a great time lugging it through the back yard to the guest house. then i had some more space on my desktop, so I got another one :)
my friend bought a 65" Sony widescreen tv a while back. it's so large the only place for it is right in front of the front door of his apartment, so now we all come in through the back. on the bright side, the thing weighs a ton, so there's no chance of it getting stolen unless they come with a team of movers. |
size issues for me would be the logitech z5300 subwoofer under my desk for the computer speakers..
It leaves my feet , well no space at all. Then again it could be a giant foot rest, just the desk isnt high enough for that.. :( sad world. Nice tv too :D |
It's always nice to upgrade. :)
My uncle was tired of cheap ass entertainment centers he kept having to buy at Wal-Mart, so he decided to build his own. He took all the measurements; made sure everything would fit fine and started building. The problem was, once he started building he kept revising the plans i.e. made the television space a little bigger "for the future" he says, kept adding one last shelf or slide drawer, added a small shelf at the top to display his wifes' knick knacks. So on, so forth. I'm sure you see where this is going. A couple of us get ready to move it from the garage and we start expressing doubts. "Oh yeah," he says " it'll fit. I measured everything. It's gonna fit." Turns out it didn't. Not in any door. It almost fit diagonally through a double door from the outside deck to the kitchen. Good times....good times. |
Damn, I thought this was a thread about the 60's Japanese Giant Robot cartoon. Damn!
"Gigantor the space age robot, he's at your command....." Nice TV, how's it work with the gaming systems? Is the refresh rate okay? |
For some darn reason, we're still squintin' at Low-D TV here at ARTelevision World Headquarters.
There's better resolution in the pic you posted than on this bull ridin' show I'm watchin on OLN... |
Our 53' tv wasn't bad because we put it right beside the door but the ping pong table was a different story. Folded in half is was maybe a six foot by six foot square that we wanted in the basement. I nearly died and I think I broke the ping pong table. Unfortunately my dad was more upset about the table being broken than me sitting at the bottom of the stairs gasping for air.
But Hal, thats a nice tv, I agree Sony makes some great products. The split screen function is pretty cool but after a while you realise that FF doesn't allow your attention to go anywhere else ;). God I love that game series... |
In high school a friend of mine and I moved some couches into the basement at my parent's house.
This past summer my parents called me over to help move them back upstairs so they could get them reupholstered (is that the right word?). Anyways....we couldn't do it. They were too big. It made us wonder how we got them in there in the first place. We tried every friggen possible position but no luck. Finally I tore off the door frame out of frustration and it barely made it through. Neither my friend, my father, or I can remember how we got them down there in the first place. By the way, NOICE TV! |
nice upgrade halx.
