Earthquake in central cali
Pretty Crazy for those of us who felt it, I was ~60 miles from the epicenter when it happened.
I had just started my car to go shopping when it happened. All the other cars in the driveway started to shake, I was like DAMN somethings definatly wrong with my car. Pretty soon though I realized it was not my car and that I was finally in an earthquake (8 years in california). Either way, it was pretty crazy and somewhat scary, it lasted for what seemed like forever and I swore that any second the earth was gonna splt open and swallow the house. Anyone elce feel it? Where were you? |
felt it all the way down in tustin, building was rolling..thought i was just getting sick at first.
|
I just heard about it.
Any damage? |
I didn't feel it in Rancho Cucamonga
|
I didn't feel it, and it was a 6.5......What a ripoff!
|
felt a tiny aftershock about 30 min ago as well.
|
I didn't feel it in Orange County. f00sion, thats weird, I am in Fullerton and didn't feel it yet you are a tad furthar south from me.
I wonder if there was any damage to Hearst Castle? I heard it was centered near it. |
I was in the car in Lakewood at the time, did not feel it. When I got home my roommate said he felt it.
Apparently, there is extensive damage in the Paso Robles area and a couple people dead. |
I love that area too, thats too bad. Whenever I am stressed I like to take a weekend and drive up to Pismo Beach. So mellow and pretty over there.
|
I was in the shower. Guess I missed that one.
:D |
Felt it in Santa Cruz. about 150 miles away. It was a pretty soft jolt by then, enough so I wasn't 100 percent sure that it was a real quake. But the timing was just right, in retrospect.
Sorry for those who've been hurt or killed or had their houses damaged. Fortunately, that area's mostly pasture land, cattle, and the odd vineyard, so it could have been a lot worse. Had the epicenter been 100 miles further south or north, the story might have been even worse. |
OMG these fucking news morons are clueless!!!!!!!!!
I'm watching channel 4 and they have breaking news on about the earthquake. The news moron is interviewing some guy from CalTec and he said something like the 10 year anniversary of the Northridge quake is coming up is there any significance in that? The dude from CalTec chuckled and said no nothing to do with that. You could tell he wanted to say, "no you stoopid fucker, earthquakes are random." I wish the news channels would just show the damn pictures and shut up!! |
I think a glass fell off the end of a counter at out house, I should send the picture of the carnage to fox news.

 I can't handle this anymore. |
Looks like Paso Robles took the brunt of it, havent seen pics from Cambria yet.
I spent a few days in Paso Robles last March, beautiful town. It was my favorite area of California. Good Luck to all you mud surfers on the west coast. |
I have friends down in SLO, I tried calling when I heard about the quake on the radio but got voice mail... i hope they're alright. :\
|
My parents have a beach house in Camberia. Everyone there was fine, just a little shaken up.
|
I live not far from sacrementom and did not feel it.
|
all the fixtures at my store ( Target) shook a lot, but our guests kept shopping. i was basically standing in the middle aisle hoping shit won't fall on people and then having to deal with incident reports. honestly, everyone just thought they were overworked and were feeling dizzy. btw, i was in camarillo, about 45 mins away from the epicenter.
|
Yeah, I was talking to a guy I know who lives in North Hollywood, and he said he barely felt it.
|
im in ventura county and didnt feel a thing! i think it was because i was still sleeping
|
Im in Ventura and I felt it. I was lying on the couch and enjoyed it for the first fifteen seconds or so. But as it went on I decided it might be a good idea to get my ass in a doorway just in case... It wasnt as strong as it was up in Cambria but we had a good "roller" for about 30 seconds or so. I just couldn't believe the dog slept through the whole damn thing!
|
I know a girl with a new puppy, she said they took it under a table and it pooped, peeed (sp?) and threw up it was so scared.
|
LOL at that news reporter. Earthquakes aren't exactly random, but they don't recognize anniversaries :)
There are actually some ways to predict earthquakes a few weeks ahead of time, but first you have to know the fault is there and have the correct monitoring installed near it (a water well within 1 to 2 miles of the active area of the fault). |
