Sleeping in Strange Places

What's the wierdest place or event you've ever fallen asleep at? The Office? A Concert? Your Cousin's briss? Share.

In high school, I got wrote up and was sent to the office to see the principle. I hadn't slept for the past 2 nights because of... I can't remember why, but it probably had something to do with the internet. While waiting to be called in, I drifted off to sleep and slid off my chair and layed on the floor sleeping. I was awoken a couple minutes later by the receptionist who was freaking out because she thought I had passed out from a medical problem.

Good times

I have the ability to, when sufficently tired, fall asleep damn near anywhere. My friends have labeled me a junior-grade narcoleptic.

My friends and I celebrated the end of our junior year of high school by holding what we called AlcoholFest '99. After 15 consecutive hours of drinking, we decided that instead of the tried-and-true sleeping in a warm bed at home, we'd take a cab to a big park and sleep with the homeless people. It was freezing and I tripped over one of them. I still managed to fall asleep, under a tree in a clearing.

I woke up, with the worst hangover ever, shivering, far from home, and covered with mud.

When I was in basic training, I used to sneak down to the laundry room after wake up call and sleep under the counter that we folded laundry on. I used a canteen as a pillow. More comfortable than you might think, especially when you're not getting much sleep.

Another weird place was at this gay club my girlfriend forced me to go to. When I got there, there wasn't but a few people, so I sat down in the far corner and ended up passing out. I woke up a few hours later and there were hundreds of people all dancing around me. I don't know how I could have slept through that....

I've slept standing up in a closet before, but I think the worst was when I fell asleep after I climbed a tree. There's nothing like waking up with a start and realizing your 20 feet off the ground with only a few branches holding you up.

I went to a military high school, had to get up every morning for inspection, so I used to crawl under the lower bunk and sleep there for a few minutes with a couple of towels for padding.
Also, while taking a week long cruise for JROTC, had to be with a petty officer for one of his shifts, fell asleep sitting on a 55 gallon drum propped up against a locker in the engine hold. Had earplugs and earmuffs on. I can sleep pretty much anywhere, given half a chance. Comes from improper amount of sleep at night.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm ok, I never thought I would find someone else who has slept on a dryer.

I have fallen asleep SO MANY places... under pool tables and ping pong tables, watching numerous movies, laying across the washer and dryer at my old apartment, at a bus stop (more of a nap), on a laundromat's cold floor, hard benches, in the sand at the beach...

this is a fun thread.

Got real compfy until my driver decided he did not like my snoring, and drove down through the grader ditch to wake me up.....never did that again..

Wow. Alot of you fall asleep at concerts. That's strange and interesting.

I forgot a good one. Our class took a Field Trip to Disney World, and we spent the day in epcot. A huge storm came up, and we were very unprepared. Me and 2-3 other friends happen to be inside the huge Golf-ball..globe..thingy. So we were trapped in there for over an hour. The only thing we had to do really was ride that stupid.. Ride. The one where they take you through a history of.. communication I think. I can't remember. After the 4th time, I fell asleep and the operator of the ride, noting that no one was really coming in, just let me stay on. I went through that 20 minute ride a total of 5 times before waking up.

I guess one night I feel asleep in the kitchen sink. My mom had told me that she was taking the dog out one morning years ago and saw me climbing up the stairs from which my bedroom was located (in the basement), she had said that she asked me what I was doing and I mumbled something that she couldn't understand. When she returned form taking the dog outside I was sleeping in the sink. I was actually passed out from drinking way too much but she got my sister up and spread the word to my whole family to embarass me.

The Laundry room in the gym at a college. I had been working there. Was feeling ill - anemic - and sat down on the floor beside the washer for just a moment because I was dizzy. Next thing I know I was woken up by the washer stopping.

Standing up in church (hadn't slept in 3 days). Thankfully fell against my friend who was standing next to me who managed to catch me.

While under a desk hooking up a computer in the faculty offices at my college. They had the worst desks with little cabinets for the CPU and little holes in the back of the cabinet for the cables to come out of. Then on top of that the desks were extremely heavy and pushed up against the wall.Woke up when the faculty member came in to get some papers out of their desk and accidentally kicked my feet.

Anytime I am tired I can sleep anywhere I want. I just take a couple deep breaths and rest my head. It doesn't matter what kind of floor or surface I'm on.

Behind my desk at every job I ever had; in meetings; on the toilet.

Scariest was behind the wheel of a car. I'd been driving for 14 hours, it was after midnight and I had 70 miles to go. I had two mountain ranges to cross before I hit my destination, the San Francisco Bay. I topped the first range -- and there was the San Francisco Bay. I'd blanked out and essentially sleep-drove for 50 miles. Good thing traffic was light.

I also fell asleep in perhaps the one place you never want to fall asleep: the courtyard of the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris. Per square foot, it has one of the highest rates of theft and larceny in the world. My friend and I wandered off from the tour group, found a bench that had a full view of the stained glass above the front entrance, and promptly dozed off. Sadly, this is after I had said "Don't worry, bro. We'll take shifts. You sleep for 10, then I'll sleep for 10." As soon as his eyes shut and his breathing evened, I followed suit.
Needless to say, my French professor was livid.

I've done the sleep a number of times at concerts, it's usually been the all day festival thing though (Ozzfest, Lollapalooza, etc.)

Also, I fell asleep in a ditch on the side of the road of one of the busiest streets in town. That was alcohol induced, so it doesn't really count I guess. I'd just left a party and decided I couldn't drive home after about a block or so, so I got out and sat in the ditch and passed out. Keys still in the ignition, lights on, door open and everything.

I've slept at work several times. I just close my office door, turn off the lights and nap for about 30 minutes. Nobody knows anything.

I don't sleep well at nite, but give 5 minutes to prepare myslef and I can fall asleep anywhere during the day.
