How often do Fast Food places mess up your order?
I cannot believe this. 2 places (McDonalds, then KFC), in 2 consecutive days, screwed up my food. I order a PLAIN chicken sandwich at both places, and both times I open my food up when I get home and damned if they didn't go ahead and put Mayo and Lettuce on the chicken.
I made it clear as humanly possible that I wanted it plain. Now I understand that these are minimum wage workers who don't care that much for their jobs, but jeez. It's a simple order, less work for them. All they have to do is put a piece of chicken between 2 pieces of bread!!! Oh and actually that was McDonalds THIRD fuckup on my food in less than 5 weeks. /me ends rant |
Ah, it's not that bad man; just scrape it off. I can't remember the last time a fast food place actually got my order right.
|
They don't ever screw up my order. Here's a tip tho, check your food BEFORE you leave the drive through. I agree with sub zero, just scrape it off. Life's too short to bitch about fast food.
|
It's not exactly fast food, but my school cafiteria has a section that is nearly a fast food place.
Anyway, they have forgotten my order twice, and one of those times when I reminded them they made the wrong thing. They did that once before as well. |
the thing about plain burgers tho, is that it screws up their routine of ketchup, mustard, pickle. or whatnot. so it's actually EASIER when ppl don't special order their food.
but yea. sometimes i'll order a plain jr. bacon cheeseburger or something and not get bacon. hello if i didn't want bacon i would have said plain cheeseburger or, sometimes, i order a plain chicken quesadilla and they won't understand it. "we don't have that" so i'll rephrase--"i want a chicken quesidilla with no sauce" and then they'll get it right. stupid people  |
Hardly ever - I just order the regular, non - special order versions and I get it perfect usually. Try Wendy's. There is a wendy's near me that is so incredible - they have the food in the bag and ready by the time you get up to the payment window of the drivethrough.
Could it be, that they thought that "plain" meant "regular"? Maybe they think "plain" means no cheese or no extra other stuff. Just a guess. I go out with a guy all the time and we go to this restaurant and he orders the same way every time and they almost always mess it up. I tell him, if it is out of the ordinary then you need to really s-p-e-l-l it out. Say exactly what you want and dont' want. then again, maybe they are just pothead burger flippers that dont' give a rat's. |
I had a job at chik filet when I was 13 and I'm much more lenient with people who work there, unless they're being belligerent and need a punch in the face. It's one of those ass jobs, the work load isn't even close to being worth the pay so most people just kind of zone out.
The best part about going out to eat really isn't the food anyways, it's trying to make the good looking employees blow off work and come home with me. |
They never ever messed up an order.
Maybe I'm just lucky or maybe it's because I'm not one of these complicated people asking "I want this and this, but don't want that, blah blah blah". |
It's Gods way of telling you that you shouldn't eat that crap;)
|
never.
mind you, i hardly ever eat fast food. and when i do, i just order something simple like the Big Mac meal... it would really suck having allergies and such that would cause you to have to order strange meals that the kids behind the counter canīt deal with. but then again, splck is talking truth there. |

Man you think that's bad? I ordered a double big mac with cheese and bacon and got a quarter pounder. It was the worst fast food sandwich I ever had just because they got my order so horribly wrong and I didn't bother to check when they just handed me the bag.
Damn I feel bad just thinking about it... I mean cmon, a double big mac versus a measly quarter pounder.. agh. |
Being a college student I live off fast food. In the past I could never get my meal right at McDonalds. But recently I have had it right it's the wierdest thing ever. Wendy's now that I think of it, has never gotten my meal wrong. I really haven't had any problems with orders lately, its kinda suprising.

Special orders = wrong stuff. Very often. Also, this happens more often in the drive-thru, doesn't it? You know what they said in "Lethal Weapon"....
You ever take it back? Tell them you want the right stuff -and- a refund. Some places are actually concerned that you be satisfied. KFC started a delivery service. We ordered extra-crispy. They delivered original recipie. We called and they said they'd be right out with the right stuff. 2 hours later, nothing. I ate about half of what they'd brought and drove up to the restaruant. Our delivery guy was there. It seemed that most of the delivery people were there. I explaned, rather forcefully, to the manager that I was going to keep what they brought, I wanted what I was supposed to have gotten, and I wanted a refund. I got all three. Granted, it was their first day for a new thing. They were veryaccomidating. It's always worth a shot. |
I noticed when I worked at BK that special emphasis is placed on fast they worry bout the food part later.
That and when there are about 50 things on the board its kinda hard to keep track of things. |
I've never had my order messed up, and I often order non-standard burgers. On the other hand, I used to work at Burger King and screwed up while making special burgers from time to time. When you've been making burgers non-stop all day, it becomes almost subconsious: put the bun in the toaster, mark the wrapper, put the meat on the bottom of the bun, nuke it, mayo, lettuce tomato on the top, take the bottom half out of the microwave, pickle, sauce, onion, put together, wrap, repeat. I actually made a burger with my eyes closed once as an experiment, and it came out pretty well. Got pretty quick too. Timed myself once and from the time the bun came out of the toaster to the time it finished microwaving and was in the heat chute, it took I think it was 13 seconds to make a Whopper Jr.
Anyway the whole process became so automatic that sometimes I'd forget that a burger was supposed to be special two seconds after marking the wrapper. I didn't do it often, but accidents happen from time to time. Fast food staff are human too. |
My orders are generally rather standard, and rarely do my orders get messed up (I always check the bag before driving off just in case). One of my female roommates always special orders a burger and every time I tell her simply to just order regular, and take off what she doesn't want, and every time she refuses and 95% of the time she gets something completely opposite of what she wants, and then she either complains and gets something even more wrong (wouldn't be surprised if some of those secondary sandwiches had saliva as part of the sauce), unless the manager comes in to save the day.
I can understand the monotony of such a job, and how most of the people there are probably in a nice rythm and special ordering can throw it off. Of course the customer is always right, but then again I'm also familiar with teenage angst, and would rather just avoid a pointless ordeal. |
You need to eat better dude.
Even if you go to Subway, at least it has some decent food. The grilled chicken on whole wheat with peppers and onions, mmmmm. And they make it in front of you so they won't screw up. |
There was a Burger King here that absolutely never got an order right - either it was the wrong food, or they they overcharged for stuff. Every time. EVERY time.
It was so bad, the place went out of business - at a very busy intersection. If you can't make a go of it with one of the most successful franchises in history, you really don't deserve the money you had to buy into it in the first place. It's been a mom and pop donut place now for 2 years. A successful donut place. |
one cannot scrape it off if they are allergic to it.... as far as they are concerned the food is garbage.

It's not fun to have to wait an extra long time because someone got it wrong the first time. Though, she finally got into the habit of checking her food before she leaves and is much happier because of it. |
probably every other time i go
|
Rarely. I could probably count on one hand the number of times my order has been messed up, but that doesn't seem the norm. When it has happened, it was always in the drive-thru. I blame the crappy speaker system for that.
|
You have to make it a habit to check your order each time you visit to make sure it is right. IF it is wrong, return it a demand what you ordered. I do not use the drive thru at all. I have found it to be faster to just walk in and order at the counter. That way you can check your order and confront the wait person directly. I once ordered a chicken sandwich at a McD, and the person fixing the sandwiches splattered the mayo on the counter while putting it on the bun. He proceeded to wipe up the counter with the bun top and put it on the sandwich and wrapped it up. I was able to see the whole thing and when the counter person handed me the bag, i asked to speak with the manager. Needless to say, when confronted, the cook said, yes he had done that. I got my food free and he was demoted to clean up. I don't eat at McD any more, but you have to watch out when possible when fast food places make your order.
|
I order for the office so I usually have a pretty big order. some where between $40 and $80. Most places do a pretty good job but they do screw up from time to time. KFC has been the only one that has been rude about it when we complain. The thing that bugs me is when they put right on the sandwich that it has been double checked for accuracy and then it is still screwed up.
|
They do it every time for me. I order a burger and they always give me a paper patty soaked with soy sauce encased in two yellow-colored Styrofoam disks!
Buda-boom-ching. |
Haha, this happened to my b/f and I not too long ago. We went to taco bell and ordered a soft bean taco supreme with no cheese (he's vegaterian) and got a meat taco with cheese. We took it back the next day (we ordered it late and on our way to a party, found it the next morn. still in the car.. so what the heck!) and our "fixed taco" was the same exact thing. So the lady at the register went back and fixed our taco herself. We get in the car.. starving.. and our taco is fixed but the bean burrito we also ordered was beef. We decide to head down the mtn. and just fix it at the one in my home town seeing we were already late to meet my mom. We take it in, explain the problem they "fix it". This time they got the beans, no cheese part but it wasn't supreme. Any other day I wouldn't have cared but I was quite ticked by this point and just wanted to eat what I had ordered. So we sent it back.. AGAIN... and finally had dinner we could eat. :)

Whenever I am in a hurry and picking up food for someone else ... then I look like a schmuck...
|
There is one McDonalds around here that ALWAYS messes up your order. In addition to that, they are ass-slow and the drive-thru is funky. The window where they take your money and deliver your order is in the middle of the dining room; so they have to rush your food out of the kitchen.
I think it is slated to be bulldozed and a new one built - good riddance. |
Well, I hardly ever order anything differently than whats on the menu, so that usually isnt a problem.
I rarely eat fast food though, so its even less of a problem :D |
maybe once a year, can't really remember but it has happened. Just say away from the worst of the worst (McDonals/KFC/TacoHell) and if the place is swamped shy away from a large order of unique items and if you have a large group have everyone buy a item or two breaking up the large order.
|
40%
I would say almost half the time they mess something up. When I check the order right there, it's always right, it's when I don't check the order there and get home is when they screw up.
|
Usually, fast food joints are pretty good about getting my order right. Surprisingly. But, I have been on those streaks wherein they seem like they screw up my ticket on purpose.
|
I don't have many problems. But, my typical order is just to leave off something...usually lettuce and/or tomato (like at Taco Bell), or a cheeseburger with only catsup and onion on it. It's easy, so it's tough to mess up. I used to work in fast food...at a Hardee's namely, and NEVER screwed anything up. Got appropriate recognition for it, too.
|
I go to this McDonald's where they always get the order right but dont fill up the fry container all the way. Pisses me off to hell because it looks full but you open the container properly and give it a shake and realize that it's half empty. Damn cheapasses.
|
They never mess up my order...because i never eat fast food.
Restaurants, on the other hand, do it quite frequently...gah! |
i don't even bother cspecial ordering stuff anymore.. just change it yourself later.
|
My local pub, as much as I love them, just can't get the hang of 'no tomato'.
Although, they're not as bad as the other (teenybopper) pub nearby. I ordered a bourbon, so they gave me a bourbon and coke. It was busy, so I couldn't really complain. So I asked for a bourbon on the rocks. They gave me a bourbon and coke. So I asked for a bourbon, neat. They gave me a bourbon and coke. With ice. I'd come down there in a bad mood (hence the whiskey), and it hadn't improved. So I asked for 'a bourbon. Just a bourbon, NO BLOODY COKE.' Sure enough, they bring me a bourbon and coke. I just refused to pay for that one. On a happier note, I've finally trained my Subway that when I ask for a meatball sub with all three cheeses and extra bacon and extra olives, I mean it. And I get my extra, extra, extra olives (bloody black things, you can't taste them unless they're heaped on). |
hmm once I ordered a veggie burger at mcdonalds and got a fillet of fish
so I took a bite out of it and returned it for the veggieburger heh hmm......probably 1 in 10 times they screw up an order, but usually I order very specific things so it usually isn't a problem |
All i want to know is WHAT THE FUCK IS THE DEAL WITH CHEESE ON EVERYTHING?
This pisses me off so bad, this being wendy's MAINLY. Both places around here, you order a double HAMBURGER with whatever. And EVERY time i specifically ask, NO CHEESE. What happens 1/4 the time? The dumbass's put cheese on it. Eating cheese on my food makes me sick to my stomach, and these idiots cant handle such a simple task. Best yet, you get charged an additional 40 cents for it too! |
