I gave $50 by paypal shortly after I joined. I could easily send $100 now. I just hate mailing cheques. Having to remember to pick up stamps and mail letters at the country store is a royal pain. Plus, I suppose you'd like a US money order. My little personal cheque in Canadian funds will likely be laughed at and hung up in bank hell for weeks.

But I guess I could do it. Sigh..

Dills03 12-08-2003 10:00 PM

Good Job--the dough was sent. (several days ago) I choose to support!
I agree with others who say that most people would not hesitate to spend $25 (to$50) on music, alcohol, magazines or other items. If someone says they cannot contribute then, in MOST cases, it means that it is not important enough for them to do so. Everything has a cost. You choose.

Sorry for PM'ing ya Halx, now that I have found the right thread, I know now whats going on... If I could've searched for it....... hehehe

Halx

It's going to be a long month! :( I hope the trip went well
thanks

Snakedance 12-11-2003 03:45 PM

Well that tears it. I have enjoyed this board for a couple of years and only donated once ($100 and well spent). I am going to do it again. This week I give up prostitutes, crank, crack, cold beer and smokes, if my wife will do the same I may have some money to send.

Toker 12-11-2003 08:06 PM

Sent along what I could to help out with the move, keep up the awesome work guys. :D

actualy you can

PP has no access to the parts of the site they would consider against thier TOS, that being the (vacationed) TB.

I donated through PP a while back, and will only donate through PP.

I trust PP, I don't trust sending checks through the mail anymore since I had one 'erased' and rewritten for 2 grand. (of course this was taken care of, but talk about a hassel).

RaDiAn 12-13-2003 05:04 AM

Good luck with the move... I hope all goes easily. Thanks for all your hard work for TFP. I love this place!

I agree with redrum- Please try and re-establish a Pay Pay account. Maybe I'm too paranoid in the BushCroft Dick-tatorship, but Yahoo is asking WAY too many questions!

And getting around to finding a stamp, an envelope, and my dusty checkbook seems to be taking awhile! :D

146519 12-15-2003 08:36 AM

Why did paypal cancel service? I used it to donate once and it's very easy. I never use my credit card and don't want to start now and the paydirect servicde really sucks. I used it for an ebay auction where the seller didn't take paypal and it was not a streamlined project.

31Friction 12-16-2003 11:00 AM

I'll have to wait a few weeks but expect something from my way. I havn't been on here too long but havnt been able to stay away for much longer than a day ;)

How close are we to getting everything back up?

TFP29 12-20-2003 09:44 PM

It's quite a compliment to Halx & co. that the titty board(s) are missed so badly.

Hats off to TFP! Let's all take a break and enjoy the holidays, and patiently await their return.

Same here. Mine refuses to work. I've sent Hal a PM about this about two or three weeks ago, but I haven't got a response yet. I tried three times in a row, and neither of the three times would Yahoo work. I get to the final step (everything is in order, all info in, ready to hit "agree") and click "submit" or whatever, and then "this page cannot be found" comes up every fucking time. It's annoying. It's even more annoying that no one can tell me why this is happening or if my $60 went through. What the hell is going on with Yahoo!? I don't want to send money through the mail, but I want to donate to TFP.

Thanks for all the hard work hal. I will drop what I can in the mail to support the TFP. Happy Holidays!

I tried to donate earlier this month, nothing but problems with Yahoo Direct. They didn't want to take my money. Any other way besides snail mail??

DonNutz 12-23-2003 10:42 AM

Being without for so long really makes you notice how great this site really is.

cowudders14 12-23-2003 04:10 PM

Important - a better donation system!

I had another look at bitpass (www.bitpass.com), and they appear to be no longer on beta testing - they are open for business fully!
I emailed their tech support - here's both emails:

------------------------------------
> What support do you have for different currencies? I want to get transfers
> going from various countries to a US dollar account in the end - will this
> be possible or do you only deal in GBP/dollars etc. I couldn't find a
> mention of currencies at all on your site.

Although we only use US dollars, the purchases can be made with almost any currency
supported by PayPal or Payflow (VeriSign). The resulting payouts are also converted into the local
currency by Paypal.

Will Mayall
BitPass, Inc.
-----------------------------------------------

Thus, Halx - I seriously think you should look into this service - I would then be able to donate, and donate I would! :)

scarab77 12-26-2003 02:13 PM

Who is 'develdevil36@yahoo.com'

When I clicked the donate button, it took me to a donation page for 'develdevil36@yahoo.com'...is this correct?

Don't want to be sending $$$ to the wrong guy! ... I guess I was expecting a 'halx' or 'tfp' address....

papermachesatan 12-27-2003 12:05 PM

arghh - starting to miss the search function, view all new posts, etc. functions! :(

well, you gotta figure, each avatar is about 50K in size give or take (mostly take) and they have to load each time someone views your post... in a community this large... yeah.

now, if they're hosted offsite (not sure if they're hosted on the tfp server or not) the difference is minute, but if they're hosted here then this server processes them and that's a MEGA bandwidth usage.

cowudders14 12-28-2003 05:32 PM

Scrolling up and doing a quick check on the first person above still displaying an avatar yields it's address to be:

http://tfproject.org/tfp/avatar.php?userid=23991&dateline=1058926240

Thus, they are hosted on the site, and I can imagine that removing them does actually help a lot!

smooth 12-28-2003 10:04 PM

I went to turn my avatar off and realized that there is a setting to not display other posters' avatars, as well.

Fire 12-29-2003 12:57 AM

cool- thanks for the info- guess I'll leave mine off

gr8suds 12-29-2003 08:21 PM

Hey people,
I understand all of us have different financial issues in our lives preventing us from making a contribution, but look at it this way. How easy is it to pull one dollar out of your pocket to buy a pack of gum, a soda, a newspaper, or anything else? Think about the satisfaction you get from it versus this forum. You can spend countless hours at this site, and get a lot more out of it than what you would normally get for the dollor you wasted on something less meaningful. Come on, you know you can cough up a couple of bucks, or even more, but you are making a choice not too. If you try a little, and get a little creative, you can scrounge up a couple of bucks. So why not take a minute to do it, so you can spend hours enjoying this forum? Make a difference, make a donation. Even a little from a lot of people makes a huge difference
Lastly, for all who have contributed so far, I admire you for your generosity and commitment.

flamingdog 12-30-2003 10:16 AM

So it's nearly January... are we looking all set for the big switch-on?

Fly 12-30-2003 10:31 AM

snail mail works well too people.

for the canadians on the board, send a couple 'o bucks in to this fantastic place.

porn is overated anyways..........(i feel many eyeballs rolling at me)

there's lots of stuff in the TFP,just go check it ALL out.

Halx 12-30-2003 11:01 AM

As far as I know, the server has not reached the US yet. We're still waiting.

geep 12-31-2003 06:52 AM

Just a suggestion- when the server returns to a fully functional state, how about creating a spoof section. I have some spoofs I could contribute, maybe other members would, too.

No, not the shipping company, I mean the original Mayflower, the sailing vessel.

That's a direct quote from the User CP as to the size limits on avatars.

I think maybe checking a fact, before presenting it <i>as</i> a fact, might be a good idea.

it was a rough estimate.

and 20 kb is still a kinda big file when multiplied over the userbase and then loaded daily.

not to mention avatars serve little purpose. but let's not get into a pissing war eh?

at least we can all agree that we love this place even if some of us live off of 600 dollars a month and simply cna't donate.

i hope it was not on that fedex plane that burned on the runway...

i hope we get this taken care of.

slant eyes 01-02-2004 04:25 PM

as of today, i have just been informed that the unemployment checks i was receiving that were keepin me afloat might come to an end. not because i have received the full amount of benefit, but merely because there was some discrepancy in the form that i filled out with regards to refusing work. i have always had 5 dollars in my drawer that i was hoping to one day turn into 20 so that i may send in. but as far as the outlook seems, the 5 is gonna remain that -inflation. so Halx, if this would help, let me know.

bartgroks 01-03-2004 12:52 PM

HAve you looked in to an appeal slant eyes? If its just a discrepency you should be able to get your benefits back on appeal.

greyeyes 01-03-2004 04:57 PM

I sent five dollars, sadly, that is all I could spare (starving college student)

Is it just me, or am I the only one who hasn't missed the porn?
*NiceGuy braces to be beat up*
I'm here for the message boards and the community. The main server being down hasn't prevented me from enjoying the best part of the TFP. I do miss the search functions though. I figure that with the porn gone, the ones who are still visiting are those who actually care about the forum and being a part of this great community, not just about getting free porn.
Halx - You've created a great little corner of the internet! Thank You!

HockeyGuy 01-04-2004 05:56 PM

Halx, I jsut wanted to say thank you!
and also as NiceGuy said it really shows the people who actualyl care about the 'community'! I think that the no pron has been a godo thing too! (may need to duck from objects being thrown my direction/and or hate mail)

JStrider 01-05-2004 02:19 AM

well man... its been a good while... need the tb back to get a couple friends to start posting... they just wont get into it without it im afraid...

as for donating...
/me holds up 2 christmas checks from grandparents... ive got some $$ so ill definently send it in... and assuming they remember my bday in feb then ill try to send some in then too!

Wingnut 01-05-2004 05:56 AM

I must say that I am missing the search functions. The TB was great, but that is not all at TFP. There is so much more and I really enjoy the other forums.

***Wingnut waiting for the empty cans slung into his direction***

flamingdog 01-05-2004 01:10 PM

i have missed the porn and i'm not ashamed to admit it. the sooner it comes abck the better. however, it won't stop me posting inthe other forums.

I think this is a great idea! Also another idea might be Bit Torrent Links? It would be a great way for members to share mass amounts of information (i.e. porn) with each other, while minimizing server strain. For those of us with plenty of bandwidth, it'd be a great way to give back to the community!

Just an idea...

Warf Rat 01-07-2004 08:39 AM

I have missed the TB as much as anyone, but this time has forced me to look around, and I am just beginning to realize how much is here to enjoy (please don't take that to mean I don't want it back). Sorry to admit but I was here for the free tittie's. I have posted several times but you people are so good that most ended up being repeats (not that ther is any thing wrong with that).
I just lost my wife (who will now proceed with financially persicuting me) and for Christmas my company was kind enough to lay me off. I will be making my proud march to the un-employment office this week. However I will do my best to help, since I have not done so before, and I had a job, this will be difficult, but after reading all the previous posts, I think I can manage something.
Thanks for everything so far, and I look forward to 04 and the new server.

thephuse 01-07-2004 07:16 PM

I'm ashamed to admit that i'm like warf rat.. I first came here lured by the boobies~ :D but after it was gone, i started looking around, and found a very interesting and enjoyable community... (but i still miss boobies~:D)

I also think that the bit torrent idea is cool, that would be a nice place to find files that you would want to share.

I don't think they could do the Bit Torrent thing. Threads have been closed in the Computing Section that contained BitTorrent links because it is considered warez. Sorry if this bursts the bubble.

numist 01-08-2004 09:45 AM

hey hal - they lost your server over the ocean...

at least, theyd better have some excuse, how long does it take to ship a friggin server?

Ive missed the search function so much, I usually used it for every third post I'd make!

AAARRRGGHHH!!!

ganon 01-08-2004 04:21 PM

I appreciate everyones continued contribution to this site, money or content. What a labor of love, Halx, for you to continue to support this group. I have enjoyed giving and receiving great advice, humor, and companionship on some very lonely days. I have been gone for sometime, but have finally gotten a chance to write. My father killed himself this past November, and my mind has been in a totally different space. But I belong to no other forum, so that my energy isn't diluted from contributing here when I get the chance. Love to all!

I'm asking some questions about the server and have been refered to this thread. Please see my thread on Members Playground.

Any extra info?

I'd PM you, but it seems like this is something everyone would like to know.

Halx 01-10-2004 09:58 PM

So, more than a month after it was shipped, the server finally fuckin' arrived. We should be up and running within the week.

numist 01-10-2004 10:27 PM

Looking forward to having it back up again.
