I signed up for Maxim and Stuff like this about 5 or 6 months ago.
About 6 weeks later I started to get both mags for free. So it's probably worth filling out.

well if anyone can find one for canada.. seeing as all the ones ive seen are us subscription only :(

Hmmm...this one looks slightly different than the one that I signed up for, but it did work. I got 3 years for free, and no bills!

Question is. What is the catch? Nothing is ever free. Something always has a consequence.

Yeah, you can pretty much be garaunteed they will sell you email and adress for as much as they can get....expect lots of junk mail....but if thats not a concern, it sounds pretty neat.

just use a free email from yahoo or hotmail.

The other one that I signed up for has given me no junk mail at all. No snail mail, no emails, nothing. And three years free.

Granted, I'm only 5 months into that 3 years.....but nothing in 5 months aint bad.

As for this one though...like I said, this one is different than the one I signed up for.

That's what I did when I got my free mags, and you stay spam free by using a fake email.

well i get spam anyways... spam you will get no matter what... i also get snail mail shit... but not from these... but im just saying... whats the big deal? you can just throw it out right..

allthough i would still like it if someone found these deals for canada too

my guess would be that the mags (if you get a subscription) are like 80-90 cents an issue, so instead of having you pay that cost they slam ya with ads. ill take ads to an email adress that doesnt exist rather than havin to pay any day :)

Hi all,

On an earlier post I saw someone post about a Free Maxim magazine. I am here to tell you that it should indeed work, but it just takes some time (ie. 8-10 weeks). But hey if it is free what's the difference. Here is a list of MANY free mags:

Now this one is a bit more complicated. Goto the site above, then when it asks you for the combo, put in any combo you want. On the next page, you will get a box that says YES I want PC Mag in digital format. Click next. Then it will give you a few questions to answer. If you notice, all of them have a "no thanks" or "no" choice. Just make sure you choose that for all of them. That way it costs nothing :) Also pay close attention, and one of the questions will say would you like a COMPLIMENTARY subscription to FHM for 1 year starting Jan 2004, yes or no, just choose yes. Then on the next page, it will ask you to fill in you info, address, etc. That's it you are done. As for the PC Mag, you can either do nothing, or click on the link to download the digital version of it. The digital version IS THE SAME as the paper version, just on the computer, page by page. Finally, if you really want to have the printed version sent to your place, instead of the digital, goto http://www.zdmcirc.com/zdmcirc/digit...ex.html#change
and fill out the form to change it from the digital to the print version, just make sure to wait two weeks first, so your account will be listed. Remember this is only for the PC Mag, not the FHM. The FHM will be mailed to you starting Jan 2004.

PS. Quick Notes for people.

1) If you already subscribe to one of these, as long as its the same name/address the subscription will JUST ADD to it. So if you already get Maxim till 2004, then when you sign up, it will add 2 years, so it will go till 2006 for you.

2) Make sure you use a alternate e-mail address, other then your main one. I have not gotten any spam so far, but just in case.

3) Many people ask how is this possible. Well the truth of the matter is, if you take any of these magazines, you will probably notice about 1/3 of them are ADS. Well basically, these magazines companies care more about the revenue from ad companies then from you subscribing. So lets a 1000 people sign up for this free subscription, they can tell the ad companies, we have 1000 more subscribers now, and can charge more for the ads. Thats the main reason for these free subscriptions.

PEOPLE! DONT WORRY ABOUT SPAM! As sixate said earlier, just enter in a random FAKE email address. something@something.com would probably work and you will not get any SPAM.

Have any of you noticed on the link for the Maxim Magazine it says NOTHING about the subscription being FREE.

So basically all you are probably doing is signing up to get their magazine (which you can do anywhere on the net) and you will be billed later.

I tried one of these sort of things for Stuff magazine and it worked. Course, your mileage may vary.

Hmmm. I don't see the word FREE there. Looks to me like a scam is somehow involved.

i signed up for this a couple months ago and i've recieved 3 issues in a row....had no spam or snail mail either.

it does say SPONSORED, meaning paid for by someone else. so just from that i'd say its legit, but to each his own. if anything were to have come from this, you'd have probably read something about it. i mean, this would be a huge ass scam. sending people what they think is a free subscription, and then charging them for it. i would certainly have some serious shit to give someone if they did that.

i seriously think that whoever prints out this mag is making a crap load of money off of advertising anyway...i mean this mag is half full of full page ads. and by printing and delivering all those ads, they probably cover all the printing cost, shipping, and salaries associated with it.

I have been getting Stuff for free for about 8 months now. I wish I could get something else for free. The pictures are good in stuff, but there is nothing to read at all. The articles are really terrible.

If you're that woried about it, use freakonaleash62@hotmail.com. This is a e-mail address that I set up some time ago, just for this sort of thing. I clear it out once a week just to keep it active.

edit - should it worry me that there were at least 61 other freaks on leashes out there when I set this up.

I have a friend who signed up for Free Maxim a Year ago, and He's gotten since then. No Spam, No Scam.

Someone, Somewhere told me that the Magazines set up accounts for Businesses and other places where people wait. Like Doctor's Offices, Dentists, etc. I know one of the free subscription site is basically a backdoor to the address for such subscriptions. So Maxim and the other are supposing that you're a business.

Then again, The credibility of this is thin, since I can't remember who told me or why..

ITS NO SCAM DAMNIT. I signed up on one of these a while ago and it works fine...I have gotten thus far one call confirminig that I was recieving the mag and asked if I was happy. That is all.

First, I don't agree with The_Dude when he says enter any email. I would HIGHLY recomend that it be a REAL e-mail address. Just create an account on hotmail or yahoo for all your mag subscriptions. Some places will not accept your subscription if the e-mail can't go thru. Plus, if you are giving your REAL address, what is the point of not giving an real working e-mail address.

Well I signed up for this, It's february and nothing yet, 3 months..

Magazine sells advertising on the basis of its circulation figures. It's the same reason it costs more per minute to advertise during the Superbowl than it does to get a Nasa space shuttle three inches off the ground.

I made that up, but it's fucking pricey. You sell into a publication on the basis of how many people will see it. If your readership is into the millions, then you're pretty much going to be able to name your price.

My guess is that they're adding all these complimentary subscriptions to their circulation totals and hiking the price of their ads accordingly to cover the costs. Probably changing the ratio of editorial:adverts too. I wouldn't be surprised if the volume of ads hadn't gone up since I last looked at Maxim (probably a year ago).

Most of these mags originated in Britain, and exploded in popularity during the mid 1990s. The last I read about them, they were suffering something of a backlash and most were losing readers. Maybe we have an answer?

I too am stil waiting, i think i might of been screwed though, because i am on the do not call list and i got a few Unknown callers a few weeks ago, and i dont answer those, now that i saw someone got a call for them, i am thinkin i missed out on them. I'll still be waitin.

The annoying thing about this is Maxim and Stuff, to the best of my knowledge, are British-based mags, and all the links say US only. How fucking irritating.

Maxim only costs $5 a year...it's almost free anyway. They must make money just by printing them.

i signed up for a couple like game pro and some other style one like 'zone' cant remember the name. now i guess we'll just have to wait 8-10 weeks and see if it works.
