How do you dream?

Do you dream in color?

I dream in full color. Very vivid and bright. In fact I can tell you specific details of a dream with all of the colors right down to the color of ones eyes or flowers in the background of the central focus of the dream.

I believe it was my Papa who told me he only dreams in black and white with shades of gray and has never had a dream in color.

This has me wondering what the majority sees when their dreams take over.

ARTelevision 10-17-2003 09:45 PM

I dream as you do, Angel...

mattevil 10-17-2003 09:51 PM

i'm not sure since i don't always remeber my dreams(i think it has to do when you get up and what type of sleep your in).
I think i dream in a cross between color and black and white sorta like the color scheme of the movie "confessions of a dangerous mind"

anti fishstick 10-17-2003 09:56 PM

i definately dream in color.

monty121052 10-17-2003 10:10 PM

Wet.

ASNstunta 10-17-2003 10:59 PM

I dont really remember much about my dreams. Just vague instances. Dont really notice color or other stuff. But I would guess its mostly in B/W. Interesting topic, I may just pay more attention now :D

Sleepyjack 10-17-2003 11:15 PM

Somtimes i remember everything, sometimes only bits and pieces. One thing though, i never seem to think how it starts, it's just like bang and something is happening. The ones i remember are in colour though.

Neato 10-17-2003 11:23 PM

I dream in color but everything is always real fuzzy and faded, but always in color. I also have tunnel vision a little. I can only remember dreams I awake during, and often don't remember any.

Kyp 10-18-2003 12:50 AM

I very rarely remember my dreams, and when I do it's only for a short while, around a few hours, before I forget them completely. I remember remembering my dream but I don't remember it anymore. That is when I do remember the dream, I remember a dream maybe once a week. I think they're in color but like before, I don't remember them.

bundy 10-18-2003 12:56 AM

i dream in vivid colour.
in fact i can remember one dream in which colours were sort of associated with the emotion of what was happening. i mean, at one point i remember seeing someone that i love, and there was a total īpink-outī, for want of a better description.
then later i dreamt that i died in a car crash, and i actually remember closing my eyes in the dream, and everthing going a really dark blue.

i think iīm eating too much cheese before i go to bed.

Sun Tzu 10-18-2003 02:14 AM

My dreams are in color and take me into bizarre and strange worlds; I wish I had the ability to create lucid dreams every night as I have only had 4 in my lifetime.

Nisses 10-18-2003 02:25 AM

it's somewhat in color, but usually with this "film noir" atmosphere. Not very bright colors and somewhat moody

Loup 10-18-2003 03:06 AM

My dreams are in colour and sometimes are so mcuh like my daily livings that I have gotten confused upon waking up to the alarm. I'ld say that I can recall about two dreams a week.

Macheath 10-18-2003 03:49 AM

I'm not really conscious of the color but I'm pretty sure I do dream in color. I wonder if more people dreamt in black and white when the movies they watched every day were black and white? I think maybe my own mind sometimes uses the 'techniques' of my favourite directors and cinematographers.

SiN 10-18-2003 04:46 AM

in color..but sometimes muted or dull-ish...

always very surreal and sometimes with a lucidity to them.

but i rarely remember them. :(

Nefir 10-18-2003 05:39 AM

I don't dream in black and white, but I also couldn't tell you the specific colors - I just know that they fit, and were "right". They might not even exist in the human world...

Isn't color just the pallette our eyes are limited to seeing? Maybe we don't really dream "in color" or "in black and white", but only think we do, because I'm sure that our dreaming minds are capable of "seeing" in way more colors than the human eye can (ie: infinitely many).

Gortexfogg 10-18-2003 08:07 AM

I dream in very vivid color almost all the time. I'm sure I've dreamt in black and white a couple times, but I don't remember when. I wonder if there are any psychology experts on the TFP that could explain any significance to the color of one's dreams...

SabrinaFair 10-18-2003 08:29 AM

I dream in realistic colour (when I can remember my dreams, which is pretty often)

On a tangent--does anyone have recurring themes in their dreams? I have recurring dreams about loosing my teeth, and another about not being able to control my car.

Semi-Normal 10-18-2003 08:55 AM

Colour. I also have all my other senses, except possibly taste. I don't recall any dreams where I've been eating so I can't say for sure.

same here. i do recall vividly smelling scents in my dreams.

it seems like i dream all night long every night. i'm sure it's not true about the all night part, but it feels like it. dreaming is the best aspect about having to sleep each night.

H12 10-18-2003 11:07 AM

Definately color for the most part. I've had one dream along time ago that was in black and white, but it fit the mood of the dream. All the rest that I remember are pretty colorful though.

Sledge 10-18-2003 11:15 AM

I dream just like I see and hear in real life... like you I was surprised to learn that some people don't.

nukeu666 10-18-2003 12:40 PM

i dream in color with sound effects also

I know this for a fact:
Everytime that I am about to eat something in my dream, I wake up, without fail, before I get the chance to chew. Usually it is my alarm that goes off, but it is always by was of being interupted.

rogue49 10-18-2003 08:22 PM

I dream in complete detail and in color
I use ALL the senses.
I remember them frequently,
and at times can control them.

Makes for nice erotic dreams,
and not so hot nightmares.

OFKU0 10-18-2003 08:46 PM

I dream with the tv on.

onodrim 10-18-2003 08:53 PM

I rarely remember my dreams, but when I do, they're very vivid, lots of color and details. I can't remember ever dreaming in black and white.

fuzzix 10-18-2003 09:20 PM

I always dream in vivid colour, usually with extreme clarity.

kifferfong 10-19-2003 05:45 AM

I dream in colour too. It's like i'm drunk and i'm not really in control of what i do, and i'm watching myself do stuff, but i can still feel and hear and touch like its real. Sometimes even the "atmosphere" of it is real, as if my mind is saying, this is really happening, this is not a dream, though sometimes, i actually can say "this is just a dream". It's weird.

Psivage 10-19-2003 06:11 AM

Half colours Half Black and White.

hawkeye 10-19-2003 04:12 PM

I either don't dream, or don't remember that I have dreampt, (much less what I dreamed about.)

phukraut 10-19-2003 06:42 PM

i dream in colour, and also almost exclusively in the third person.

Ratman 10-20-2003 01:25 AM

Technicolor. Vivid and memorable. I love my dreams.

omega2K4 10-20-2003 08:10 AM

I dream in black in white, I can tell you all the details, it just seems as if I'm watching an old movie. If I dream, it is usually about something morbid, like murders and the like.

Midlandmadman 10-20-2003 08:26 AM

I dream in color like most people....

Dano069 10-20-2003 08:30 AM

Most of my dreams are in black and white, but, occasionally, I get a very vivid color dream. The color dreams are becoming more frequent though.

GoldenOuroboros 10-21-2003 02:07 PM

When I dream I dream... I dream in full colour and lucid too. And if I want I can sometimes take over in my dream what is happening.. lots of fun :D

mml 10-21-2003 02:38 PM

Very vivid and colorful dreams and oddly enough I have never had a nightmare that I remember.

Angel 10-21-2003 06:55 PM

Since I have posted this thread, I have been having a LOT of dreams and they are so vivid and real that when I wake I am still feeling the emotion I was feeling in the dream.

They all seem to have a common thread of late as they have in the past. They are all over the map and jump around a lot. In these recent ones I am lost or needing help of some kind and I am afraid. That is how my old dreams were but nobody was there to help me, I just stayed lost and alone. Now, with these latest ones, there is always someone there to help me and ease my fears and keep me safe.
If I were to try and reason out a meaning, I would have to say that it reflects that I am more at peace than I have ever been and although I am still working on releasing my fears, I know I am safe and loved.
All of course in full bright color! :)
