Damn hell ass bitch when appropriate. I try not to drop the F-Bombs in public, I mostly fail that on the internet because it feels so private talking to people from my room though, noone really minds either. Besides, offending christians is great fun. Otherwise I do a good job holding back the F-Bombs and other curses.

bundy 10-12-2003 05:23 PM

its been brought to my attention that i swear altogether too much, especially when iŽm out on the squirt.

so, i pledge here on this fine thread, that iŽll make a conscious effort to cut out the potty mouth.

at least iŽll my hardest.

hilbert25 10-13-2003 02:20 AM

Fuck that shit, "swear" words are just like any other fucking words, it's just that people are too damn sensitive nowadays.

raeanna74 10-13-2003 05:49 AM

Growing up my parents were super strict about swear words or even slag such as "darn". I learned not to speak with them and it actually feels strange to swear most of the time. Last time I went out with a friend of mine and had a few drinks, when we got home she was teasing me and bugging me. I was feeling a little groggy and irritated with her and told her to "shut the f*k up". She was surprised by it because I never say anything like that. Even in my tipsy state I took notice and didn't forget what I'd said. Swearing, in my opinion, is a learned habit. I love words and word etymology so I like searching for new words that I can use at times of frustration. I don't end up slipping around the kids that I have here constantly and I don't offend the parents or those kids. Just safer to watch my language constantly.

absorbentishe 10-13-2003 06:41 AM

Oh yeah, all too much, just not around the kids (unless I'm really pissed). When I started working at my current job, I made it a point not to, and my boss swore like a sailor(female), so I eventually broke down and started swearing. Also, the more stress I'm under (work or home), I tend to let the 4 letter words fly more often...

Midlandmadman 10-13-2003 08:27 AM

Its wierd... but growing up my parents NEVER swore. So, being the good little kid. I never did either. I enlisted in the Army and after 8 years of this I still never swore. But, now I have started listening to some of the music of today.... every other word in it is a swear word. So, I am singing along to the songs and notice that I sound stupid editing myself when i sing . I am only saying half the words... So, I started singing the cuss words too. At first it was really strange for me to do this. Now I have no problem cutting loose to Marilyn Manson's "New Shit"

Are you Mother Fuckers ready????? hahaha
For the new shit!!!!!!!

The bad part is now some of the "lesser" cuss words like "hell, damn, shit" are starting to creep into my vocabulary. So, here I am 37 years old and just starting up my cussing career.

Wish me luck!!!!

Miekle 10-13-2003 08:31 AM

NO damnit I don't swere like a fucking sailor

usualy anyways... the other day it slipped and I said fucking thiefs in front of my grandma heh ahh well

troit 10-13-2003 09:05 AM

I'm 32 and I think that my generation and generations after me hold cussing in a different light than generations older than us. IMO -- Swearing does not hold the same connotation as it once did. Therefore we tend to let the "F" bomb slip a bit more or when we are in the approriate company. Anyone else agree?

shalafi 10-13-2003 09:41 AM

I try and watch my mouth in public. i just find it disrespectful to maybe be swearing in front of someones grandma. but on the other hand i grew up on navy bases. i used to go fishing with old school navy chiefs all summer during my early to mid teens so i learned to swear from the best.

p.s. dammit spec you stole my absofuckinglutely

As an Irishman I have to say yes.

Mr Mephisto

battlemouth 10-13-2003 12:46 PM

i refrain for swearing alot of the time, im more likely to substitute a word that sounds similar to the actual swear than say the swear

johnsmith 10-13-2003 12:46 PM

I would say that I swear excessively, but I can control it when I need to.

R-Dubb604 10-13-2003 12:48 PM

definately do at times, but like what other people are saying i can talk without cussing when i dont want to. sometimes they slip out when theyre not supposed to

i curse more than anybody i know. i curse a lot and don't know why. it's just me. i even curse when writing things to motivate.

dy156 10-13-2003 01:47 PM

I've been amused how at different offices people not just cuss more than others, but they use more crude, direct, blunt language. Where I used to work, it was not uncommon for the big boss to just announce, "I'm going down the hall to take a piss." Cussing was used alot, but only where appropriate, e.g. "Man, I wish he would have told me he was fucking his secretary before we took this case." etc...
Now, I really have to watch my mouth, and a minor irritation that elicits a "Shit!" under my breath gets me horrified looks. So, my cussing has definitely gone down recently.

almostaugust 10-13-2003 11:41 PM

All the time. Often im not aware of it.

sub zero 10-14-2003 06:55 PM

Only in the presence of my close friends ... damnit.

SabrinaFair 10-14-2003 07:23 PM

I used to swear a lot more than I do now...but sometimes it just naturally fits into how I'm trying to express myself. Goddamn, while it probably offends more people than any other word on the planet, is one of my favourite words. Still, I'm getting much better. I can't remember the last time I used "fuck" outside of the bedroom.

jvwgtr 10-15-2003 07:03 AM

I swear quite a bit when in the company of family or friends.
I think it's better to say what you mean, rather than substituting milder versions for the sake of politeness.

"Cheese and crackers!! That is friggin' stupid!"

Say it like you mean it!

Tirian 10-15-2003 07:42 AM

I am getting worse ... oh well.

A girl I worked with once (at a swimming pool, teaching kids lessons, so swearing was inapropriate) had a hard time with her language. She was trying to hold her toungue around the kids, but one day let the word "shit" slip.

Then in frustration of having sworn, she yells. "Fuck! I gotta stop swearing!"

That was funny.

Yeah!! I already had my response planned before I opened this thread, and then I read your post!!

But, yeah, I tend to cuss alot around certain people, and never around others. Just the way it is.

sillygirl 10-21-2003 07:53 PM

I swear too much. It's gotten to the point now where I barely watch myself in front of my parents, and I slipped the F bomb at church a week ago! I still haven't heard the end of that.... So far I'm still clean around my 91 year old aunt who just moved in though. I've been trying to work on it. For a while, I even had my bf helping me. But he chose the consequence, and the consequence was to flick my boob. So, instead of helping me NOT cuss, he'd try to MAKE me cuss.....

My typical saying is "Shit fuck cock damn" in that order at all times. I dunno why. *shrugs*

Church 10-21-2003 08:01 PM

Fuck no. I don't fucking cuss like a fucking sailor. Fuck!! That's a fucking insult!

Wait, never fucking mind.

ktthequeen 10-21-2003 10:17 PM

all my friends think i cuss worse than a sailor
i always drop f-bombs

perhaps i should try scaling back, but i don't wanna

cliv 10-22-2003 06:22 AM

I used to swear all the time. But after a while I was in so many situations where it was inappropriate or could get me in trouble, I decided to just stop. It was easier than having to think about every word before saying it.

sigma1042 10-22-2003 07:39 AM

when i'm not at the office, i'm always swearing

Liquor Dealer 10-22-2003 07:44 AM

Yeah! I do - I try to watch what I say but sometimes words just pop out!

Chingal0 10-22-2003 10:03 PM

Ugh, i feel your pain on that one yzerman. that game destroyed me quickly. 'you just said the s-word!' 'shit. .. *drink* fuckin.. *drink again* goddamn.. *drink again* .. yikes..

MikeyChalupa 10-24-2003 02:42 PM

I do, but I have an excuse... I'm a sailor.

-Mikey

Jolt 10-24-2003 04:47 PM

I spout far too much, especially at work. Every few months or years, I notice, think about it, and make an honest effort to clean up my language. It usually lasts a few days...

The biggest problem with profanity is that it's become trite. I'd rather hear something creative...but I tend not to come up with anything, and just use a few words excessively.

That's my theory as well. If I swear all the time, how will people know when I am really mad? I like swear words, but you have to use them sparingly or they lose all of their force. My mother *never* swears, but I have heard her say "shit" a couple times, and hot damn you know if she says that she's not messing around.

Also, I think putting 'fuck' into every sentence shrinks your vocabulary. You get to the point where some form of 'fuck' is the only adjective you can bring to mind in casual conversation, which doesn't make you sound intelligent.

Intrestingly enough, I cuss like a sailor when I'm alone and talking to myself. Much more than I do when talking to other people. Maybe the fact that I talk to myself should be what I'm concerned about.

Wait, never fucking mind.

Thats fucking hilarious!!!

Me, I cuss every chance I get... I dont use the GD or the "C" words though. My favorite cuss words are shit fuck damn, which is what I tend to say when something unexpected occurs.

"Well shit fuck damn that kicks fuckin ass!"

MacGnG 10-24-2003 07:42 PM

sometimes, but only in certain crowds
