What is the usual tip to leave for a Pizza Guy?
Say....... 2 Large?
If you have more combinations that vary per order by all means let us know. |
2 or 3 bucks would be exceptable.
|
I usually just give a buck or two and let them keep the change (as in coins change).
Are pizza guys paid like waitresses where they are expected to get tips? I hate that damned law. As a waitress you only make $2.50 an hour and nothing more if you don't get any tips. |
For 2 large.. 3 or 4 bucks is ok.
|
Having been a pizza driver for a few years, I would say 2 or 3 dollars is standard. Depending on the size of the order. One thing I could not stand for, was when people would have an order that would come to $19.92 and they would give me a wad of money and say keep the change...only to find out that when counted, it comes to $20.00 even! Wow, that used to get me! Not only is it insulting to the driver who brought you your food, It's poor class. This person is serving you food, just like a waiter...drivers ALWAYS remember the crappy tippers. So if you give a crappy tip, next time your pizza miht be 20 minutes late! On the other hand, good tippers will usually get better service. You've got to give a little to get a little as they say. If your into making people happy, give out a five dollar bill here and there...that makes drivers happy.
|
I usually tip a buck a pie.
|
I usually do two bucks. If I'm paying in cash it might be slightly more or slightly less. Eitherway, I live in a college town. I'm probably one of the better tippers.
|
I usually try to do $2 bucks. Sometimes I unfortunately don't have the money to tip, which makes me feel bad. So then next time I get that driver I give him $5
|
I try to round it up to the nearest full bill. It's usually $1+
|
All depends on the situation. But normaly its around 3 bucks.
|
I didn't have any money to tip a guy that brought us 2 large pizzas a few weeks ago. I was watching my brothers kids and they left me 20 bucks, so he ended up making 8 or so cents. Felt like a jerk for like 5 minutes until it was pizza eating time.
|
Delivery is free.
So no tip from me. I almost always pick it up anyway. |
$3
|
Wow...you guys are all tightwads.
Personally, I give the pizza guy the same percentage as if I was in a real resturant. Who knows the hell they went through to drive your food to your doorstep? Typically, I just give them an even amount of cash. So if the bill came to $14, I'd just give the guy a $20. One time, I ordered a pizza in Washington. Since I knew how terrible the traffic situation is there (I refuse to ever go back there again), I gave the guy a $10 tip. They deserve it. |
10%
|
A blow job.
|
Usually $5 or more, depending on the order.
|
if hes really cute give em a buck if its a chick stiff her. thats how i do it
|
I agree on giving a hot chick some extra :)
But for a regular delivery guy, $3-5 is usually good. |
Coming from an ex pizza pilot I totally agree with GuttersnipeXL. Pizza pilots have the best stories from interupting couples haveing sex to a bunch of drunk dickheads trying to mug you. There was this one guy in my area who everyweek he would order pizza. If I was unfortunate enough to deliver it he would ask if he could give me a head job (I am not gay). When I woulds say no he would give me a $5 tip. I feel so ambivalent.
|
I used to deliever for little Caesars... I hated when people didn't tip. We have to use our own cars, we don't get paid for gass, and we don't get paid for ware and tair.
There was a $2 delievery fee which was ok but after you hit customers who are regulars they normaly tipped me like 3$ to 4 bucks. My favorit was this guy who works in the navy he tipped 10$ and there were a few people like that, kinda makes it worth it. But I would say at least 2 bucks at the very least, its only curtousy since most delievery drivers use thier own cars. |
Always $3 - $4.
|
delivery is free...they will get nothing and like it!
nah...depends on what the tab is...if i order a small pie and it costs 7.50 they will get a buck fifty tip...... for god sakes im only 4 blocks from the pizza joint.... but usually i give em 2 and change |
1-2 bucks.
|
15% just like anywhere else. I don't know that they make waiter wages, but the job must be awful. I personally hate commuting -- driving to be somewhere on time. I can't imagine having to rush around for 8 hours, to be stiffed by ingrates every 20 minutes who think they are special somehow and should've gotten their pie before everyone else.
I'd probably seek revenge for cheapskates, come to think of it. |
tipping isnŽt a big thing here.
its not a cultural thing like it seems to be over in the states. so no, he doesnŽt get a tip. iŽll tip a good bar attendant, waiter or cabbie, but thats about it. |
a buck and the coin change. people do give me a tip for doing my job, my empoyer pay me. so why should i pay them directly, there wages is built into the price of the pizza. if it pays that badly then they should get a different job.
|
A couple of bucks depending the order size and how long it took to get there. Also I would kick a little extra if its pouring outside or snowing.
Glad |
I deliver food a couple of times a week. I expect at least 10% but will consider you semi cheap if thats all you give.
Like mentioned before...I use my own car and I don't get gas money from the deli. The worst is those bastards that live just on the edge of town and order small orders and leave like a $1 tip if that. Where I work, whichever driver is there first gets the next order...so if I'm sent to bumfuck, I am fucked on a couple of deliveries. Delivery is free, true. But if I know you are a bad tipper, or just a dick, I take my sweet time. I do give you the benefit of the doubt the first 2 or 3 times, but after that...I'll drive around for a bit talking on the phone, or since my parents live near the deli, I stop by and see whats up with them. If you aren't gonna at least give me the $.36 per mile that the government give to people they send on travel, than I will make sure your food gets cold. |
I usually pick it up myself, so I expect a bj when I get home, of course I get the cold shoulder more than not. If I had them delivered, at least 20%, or 3 bucks. Sometimes when I pick it up, I'll buy coke, and give it back to the counter guy and tell him share with the others, they're thirsty too!
|
Meh, if they get there earlier then the time they said on the phone I'll give them 2-5 bucks depending on what I have, but if not, no tip. Only other way I'll give a tip is if they say something funny, or are cheerfull/polite etc., then I might fork over extra.
I just don't feel I should be paying more then what I'm told on the phone, especially since I usually can only just afford that. |
$3 or 15%, whichever is greater. And I always round up.
|
I usually go 2 or 3 bucks. What I usually order these days comes to 26 dollars and change so I just give the guy $30 and tell him to have a nice day.
|
I always tip $5 minimum... I used to have that job and I know what a thankless, shitty job it is...
Oh and as for the good stories... One night this kid skipped in line and took my delivery. Well when he got there he got the ever loving shit beat out of him by 2 muggers. Bet he was sorry he did that. |
~ $2
depends on: if its fast or not how much food we got pizza / chinese food |
I tip them at least 20%...except when they gave we the wrong order and then after another hour, brought my desired pizza cold.
|
None. Never even thought about it. Everywhere I've ordered a pizza nobody has ever tipped the pizza guy. So, like I said before, none. Don't think I'll start now either.
|
We dont generally tip people here in Australia, because waiters/delivery people are paid enough. I've never tipped anyone.
|
A couple of times I have paid for a pizza in all quarters and no tip. Now im starting to wonder about the sperm count of my usual pizza...
|
$2.00, plus I usually round the coin up.
|
the only joint that delivers here - pizza hut.. is a joke. the pizza hut here is fucking terrible, even when i order at the store and pickup - they cant get it right.
however, the little wog guy from what appears to be selling pizza from a delapidated shack (if you looked at the store, you'd think to yaself 'there is NO FUCKING WAY im eating anything from that store', but word about him spread pretty quick) - best pizza in town. found out the other week i used to goto school with his son, he showed me how he makes pizza, and now i show up - i make my own pizza, and he gives it to me cheaper. absolute champion. god bless small business! to hell with plastic hut! |

I give 2-3... |
Usually a buck or two. I'll go 15% and round up to the nearest $1. Our orders are usually small.
|
A curt and emotionless 'thank-you' should suffice.
|
I usually try to give them $2-$3 on a $10-$12 order and then $4-$5 on a $20-$25 order. If they're slow, they get less money, but if the pizza is there in like 20 minutes or so, I've given up to about 30-35% if I was really hungry
|
15-20% I live kind of far out of town so the drive is longer and the bigger the tip the faster the trip.
|
for an average order of two larges, my friends and I normally come up with at least 2 bucks + change.
|
$3 + the change
|
I've been a waiter and a pizza delivery guy and I always tip really well about 20-25%.....EXCEPT if the gratuity is forced, like a delivery charge, or the 15% on parties larger than 8. That pisses me off and they get no extra.....period, even for outstanding service.
|
I offer the driver/kid a bong hit and beer. Never had one say no!
|
Usually $3-$5
After all, I don't want to get any "extra toppings" on the next delivery. |
If you don't tip the pizza guy you'll go to hell. That was always the saying I heard.
18-20% of total bill. Except I always pickup now that I've moved to an area that is apparently covered by some sort of science fiction cloaking device that is specifically tuned to delivery people. |
I tip a few dollars depending on the size of the order. Normally it ends up to be at least 15%.

Usually $2 + the change
However, when the weather is bad (rain, snow, etc), it's more like $3-$4 + the change |
$3-5 depending on whether it's 1 or 2 pizzas. I would tip 2 to 4, but if they can make it up my front steps, they deserve some extra. If it's raining or snowing, it's $5 no matter what I ordered.
I usually pick it up anyway. |
$3-5, + the change.
Drivers remember their good -and bad- tippers, and since I'm in favor of getting better service for myself, I try to be one of the good ones. |
I usually give $2-3 plus the change. Most of the pizza delivery places around here already tack on a buck just for delivery....
FF |
I hate when someone says "I'll get you the next time." You AND they, know you won't see shit next time either.
Last night I had a delivery for this mooch that used to come into the deli all the time. He would hang out and crack jokes and what not...but he disappeared. Now he orders food to his apartment and every fuckin time he is like "I'll get you next time." I always want to say "Next time I'm gonna leave my windows open so all your food gets cold asshole". If you are a cheap bastard, just accept the fact that you are, and don't try and make it like you just happened to be short on cash that time, or the time before, or the time before that, or the.............. |
one to two bucks is my usual.. if theres a blizzard 5 will do ;) not giving a tip is a choice, but it's kind of rude imo. and i think you should always do it since next time they'll spit on your pizza. they never forget..
ever. |
I order pizza alot on the weekends. I know my exact tip is $2.87. I get the same thing all the time and it is $12.13 I give 15 bucks everytime. I know its not the greatest tip but it isn't the worst either. I always seem to get my pizza fast and with very little spit ( I Hope) , so I think that the delivery people are ok with what I give.
|
I agree with kush. Ten percent or minimum of three bucks.
|

Look at me. Swear to me. That the next time you deliver to him and he says that line, "I'll get you next time.", swear to me, now, you'll do this. Look him dead in the face. Don't utter a word. Stare until he can take no more. If he attempts to close the door in the middle of this, slyly stick your foot in the door. This is cheapest excuse for scum I've seen. Do me a favor and swear. :) |
I used to waitress, so I usually give about 20%. Usually it's about $5
|
I usually round up to the nearest 5, or up to twenty...I once gave the pizza guy a 11 dollar tip cause I didn't have change, they like me.
Usually 3-7 bucks. |
Around 2 dollars.
|
if I'm orderin' 2 large that means i got some people in on this deal.
they need to put up some tippage. No...I mean it. hey FUCK YOUR QUARTER DUDE. |
Omg, I had no idea people tipped that low, I'm a waitor when I'm not up at school so I always try to be generous. If it's 15$ i'll try to give at least 3. I guess that's more or less what you guys do. If i can afford it, i'll try 5 or something like that.
|
I normally just try to make good with whatever money I have since I'll never give a pizza guy change. It probably averages out to $1.80 per order.
