Your real name?

So, JadziaDax challenged us to do something original. I'm starting a thread about our real life names. Post as much or as little as you want. It could be initials, it could be your first name, your middle name, but I'd advise against full name, for stalker-related issues. Maybe a little bit more. Do you like your name? Wpuld you rather have a diferent one? What would that be?

My first name in real life is Ian. I'm fine with it, and don't have any reason to want to change it.

bermuDa 04-25-2003 08:25 PM

my monogram reads DMB

edit// damn! first response to what turned into such a huge thread! I might as well give a little more away. My first name is David (or Dave, whichever you prefer)

Somenosuke 04-25-2003 08:27 PM

My initials, just like my twin brothers' are NAB. My entire name is getting changed eventually. Thus far, I only have a first name picked out.

scarebearjinx 04-25-2003 08:40 PM

My nick name is Marti. i had to grow to like mine, but i wouldn't change it.

04-25-2003 08:41 PM

First name is Anthony. As a kid, I really disliked it, prefering Tony. Dunno why, and as I got older, I got to where I didn't really care which was used.
Always kinda wondered how my parents came up with the name, as my older brother is named after my father, and my middle name is my maternal grandfather's. Met my father for the first time some years back, and it turns out his father's name was Anthony, so it makes sense.
Anyways, it's just a name, and when you get to a certain age, you don't really care what anybody calls you, as long as they call.....;)

BBtB 04-25-2003 08:43 PM

Adam. And I never really cared one way or the other. As a young child I wanted to be called Tom (I am not sure why..) but now I actully prefer my own name.

phoenix1002 04-25-2003 08:55 PM

My real name is Jacob, but since about 8th or 9th grade, I've gone by Jake.

Funny story about that... the job I had over winter break had my name down as Jacob. I worked there again over spring break, and signed in as Jake. It really confused them, they thought it was two different people. The unfunny part was they didn't send me my paycheck for about a month...:(

laconic1 04-25-2003 09:18 PM

My name is surprise, surprise, Bill. It's ok, at least people know how to spell and pronounce it.

cub4life78 04-25-2003 09:22 PM

Due to their not being another person in the US with my name I will not be giving that out as I'd like to keep some sort of anonimity. However, my initials are TRR. I'm not really getting the point of this thread though...

sexylady 04-25-2003 09:22 PM

my first name is Stefanie, yes with an 'f' although even my aunts and uncles can't remember the correct spelling... i like it though, didn't like it when i was a kid, but i like it now, i especially appreciate the 'f', its a little more unique... it also prevented people from calling me step on me when i was little, i could always come back with the fact that there is no p... haha

rogue49 04-25-2003 09:24 PM

I've always not been shy about the truth about myself,
but I don't expect anyone else to do the same.

Do what you feel comfortable with.

Michael

You'll never know! But then again, you'll never care.

Cuball 04-26-2003 12:15 AM

my name is Joeri :-)

Reese 04-26-2003 12:42 AM

With a simple name like Michael it would seem like a doctor could spell it correctly... but NOO.. they had to spell is Micheal.. Asshats

World's King 04-26-2003 01:17 AM

My name is Sean and I'm an alcoholic...

Oh wait... nevermind.

Does everything have to have a point?

I've actually changed my middle name to just the initial just because I really don't like it. It doesn't flow with the rest of my name.

Golux 04-26-2003 01:27 AM

I'm Brian Poe. No relation to the author, but sometimes if I'm feeling a bit sneaky I'll tell people I am. ; )

macduck 04-26-2003 01:53 AM

i'm michale, but i prefer mike, unless the person saying it has an exotic accent, michael sounds stupid pronounced with a NZ accent

rabidy 04-26-2003 02:04 AM

<------Larry------////

Shadowman 04-26-2003 02:06 AM

My real names Richard. But, I mostly get Richie or others like Richo, Ricardo, Rick, Dick, Dicky and Dicko. Yer...sometimes I don't know if they are talking to me!

taog 04-26-2003 02:19 AM

yeah... same here.. except I did that to the first name.... really. it's just R. Soon I'm going to change my legal name to that because of 9/11 I'm getting too much flak for it.

was weird in college because the professors would call me by the first name.. and I'd sit there...

then after rollcall I'd get dropped since there was a jillion people rushing the class.

AND the lady at the hall of records.. misspelled my name.. thank god because I'd hate to write Bryan all the time.. that drop down for the y is just a pain in the ass.

billege 04-26-2003 05:14 AM

William Joseph Edelmayer

I go by "Bill."

My first name is that of my maternal grandfather, my middle name is that of my paternal grandfather, and my last name is that of my father.

I have some amazing male role models in my family. They all deserve my respect, as they have earned it long before I was born.

I proudly carry their names.

My name is in so many publicly available records, it would be delusional to think that posting it here could possibly make a difference.

Loup 04-26-2003 05:33 AM

My initials are djp ;)

JumpinJesus 04-26-2003 05:43 AM

I'm Kevin. Nice to sorta meet everyone here. I have a middle name that starts with W but I never tell anyone what it is 'cause I don't like it.

:)

paddyjoe 04-26-2003 05:49 AM

My name is Patrick Joseph. My Irish Grandpa always called me paddy when I was young and I kinda liked it.

Chytrak 04-26-2003 07:55 AM

I have a rather unique name... Gunner.

Here's the story behind it:
My dad was watching Ricky Nelson's show on TV when he was a teenager. Ricky had a two year old son, named Gunnar. He brought him out on stage to show him off. My dad heard the name and he liked it. So, that's how I got the name. Fast forward about 20 years... Remember the twins with long blonde hair that were the band called Nelson? Yeah, that's who I am named after. Obviously, that was before they were famous, but people find that funny sometimes.

phredgreen 04-26-2003 07:58 AM

i'm not about giving out my real name, but i'll drop initials on yoru ass and make a lil explaination... i sign anything and evrything with an SCA - the first name is a very close friend of the family whom i've had the pleasure of meeting a few times. the second is my father's middle name and it's not really all that practical, so it dosen't get used unless i'm really in trouble. ;)

what... you thought my name was fred? :D

crazycousinjim 04-26-2003 08:00 AM

James, but I go by Jim. But I guess you figured that out.

sixate 04-26-2003 08:07 AM

I'm OK with my first name. Hate my middle name though.

SiN 04-26-2003 08:08 AM

Michelle.

and my last name..well lets just say, i don't like it much, is one of those hard-to-pronounce ones. just tired of it, really.
will be nice eventually when i get married, i'll def. change my last name to my bf's.

:)

Junchbailey 04-26-2003 08:20 AM

Hello, my name is Adam. I never really liked it much when I was a kid, but now I really don't care. It's just a name.

Double D 04-26-2003 08:33 AM

Cynthia Leigh a/k/a Cyn, Cindy.

Story goes when choosing my name the final three were this one, Sheila and Rhonda. It's kinda strange to know what you could have been called. My grandmother called me Cyd- because she thought that I looked like Cyd Charrisse(sp) a well-known entertainer in her day. I kinda wish *Cyd* had stuck.

Apody 04-26-2003 08:40 AM

David :D

Omar12 04-26-2003 08:43 AM

Atropos4 04-26-2003 08:59 AM

I like my name.....It's kinda old fashioned....I was named after my maternal grandmother....She past away when my mom was 6 years old....I'm not about giving away my real name....My first initial is B...

BubblegumTeflon 04-26-2003 09:28 AM

My friends call me Ann. . .it's short for something very unique. The only thing I don't like about the nickname is that it sounds the same as a basic part of speech, that annoys me a little.

Magpie0001 04-26-2003 09:37 AM

My full name is:

Tiernan Murrough Patrick Deevy

Beat that!! :D

Dragonlich 04-26-2003 09:37 AM

My initials are JAH while my brothers are JBH and Dad said if there was another boy, it woulda been JCH. He's very organized in.........well, everything, but it's cool.

SaltPork 04-26-2003 12:50 PM

first name is William, but I use my middle name-Robert. I go by Rob, Robbie, Bob, or Bobby, depends on who I'm talking to. It's great using my middle name, I always know when telemarketers are calling.

guthmund 04-26-2003 12:50 PM

I'm a Michael as well.

Mike, Michael, Mick whatever, just don't call me Mikey

I friggen' hate being called Mikey

And because of my illegiable hand writing unless someone knows me they usually call me me "Michelle."

I'm not overly fond of the middle name, so I dare not share with ye.

I am actually more proud of my middle name Wallace than any other part of my name.
Even though I just found out tonight that it references the male sexual organ.

My name is Anthony. But everybody calls me Tony

Initially, I really didn't want to say much about who I am online, but at this point, you all already know way too damned much about me. ;) Hell, a few on here know more about me then some of the people I know in real life.

merkerguitars 04-26-2003 08:37 PM

yodapaul 04-26-2003 09:03 PM

Paul, big surprise, hu??

thenewguy 04-26-2003 09:21 PM

My father called me William, and he was one of the only people I allowed the privilege. I figured it was okay since he gave me the name.

I prefer to be called Bill.

Two middle names... All three are names of Grandpa's.. Joseph is my great grandpa on my mom's side, John is my great grandpa on my dad's side, Paul is my grandpa (my mom's dad). Why show the full Name? Well, You can just as easily go over to Purge and DL the demo and check the credits.. as it reads
Joseph "GakFace" Cadwell.... ;)

I, like a few of you, have a unique middle name. Growing up I received my fair share of ribbing because of it but have learned to appreciate it. It is who I am and there is no reason to feel ashamed....

First Name - Joseph (prefer Joe)
Middle Name - Starry

Initials - JSB

My first name is Judith. Simple, right? WRONG!! You wouldn't believe how many people can't say it, all the time I hear Juduff. To make things worse, Judy is a short form of Judith. . everyone automatically assumes I go by Judy. . I hate that name. Its an old woman's name. Maybe I'll use it when I'm older, but for now, my name is Judith. . . if you can't say it or refuse to say it, then don't bother talking to me because I won't answer.

Janie 04-28-2003 04:44 PM

I'm Jane in real life. Jane A. in fact. I hate my last name. It's long and ugly and unwieldy and hard to pronounce apparently (I don't think so). I have hundreds of nicknames, and I answer to almost anything starting with a J.

John Paul Manuel Velasquez. Not really scared about stalkers or anything. It is a very interesting name actually, being that the first two names are very biblical and the last two very mexican. It actually reflects very accurately with my parents, being my father is mexican, and my mother is european. John Paul comes from two friends of my mother who died shortly before I was born. They both died of a type of cancer that escapes me at the moment. She is also uber-christian... :D ...

MrFlux 04-28-2003 07:49 PM
