What little thing are you proud of?

Don't tell us a major accomplishment. We don't want to hear about your Nobel Peace Prize or your Congressional Medal of Honor.

Tell us some little thing you take personal pride in, but are maybe a little too embarrassed to announce to the world.

As for me, I made my fish avatar. My idea. My ink. My Photoshop work. I think its pretty cool, considering I have no real art training or anything.

butthead 08-04-2003 04:41 PM

Little thing...pride...manhood...

I've done some photochop work to make fun of people I chat with. I like it a lot.

*Nikki* 08-04-2003 04:42 PM

Excellent fishy clavus.

I am proud of the fact that I shot a wedding this weekend with 300 plus guests and no assistant to help me. I didn't loose my cool one time.

HamiC 08-04-2003 05:24 PM

I walked home from the train station today....in the rain....so that my wife could let my son (1.5 yrs old) nap. About fifteen minutes...hot and humid....but it felt really good to see him sleeping when I got there.

crow_daw 08-04-2003 05:26 PM

I can write good poems sometimes, although I don't consider myself a poet, or a writer, sometimes the urge just hits me and I write something, and I'm usually really pleased with it. I'm proud of that.

Giant Hamburger 08-04-2003 05:31 PM

Hail Accomplishers of Jejune Deeds!

I once ate a 1-pound hamburger with bacon at Fuddruckers in 7 minutes and 40 seconds to win an impromptu race. The spoils of my proud victory included the near admiration of my peers and a swollen belly. I leisurely polished off my fries as the others faltered one by one. I still hold an arm up in triumph as I click submit reply!

That's got to be the sweetest thing I've heard in ages!

Congrats dude...

I'm proud of my writing ability.

I assume a good command of English comes with reading a great deal. I am certainly guilty of that.

My wife has banned me from our local bookshop on many occasions and now refuses to go there with me.

Living. Long story...just accept my answer, OK?

I've been to over 20 Grateful Dead and 20 Phish shows. And I keep all of the ticket stubs as if they were some sort of valuable treasure. How embarrassing...

hambone 08-04-2003 07:37 PM

My ability to listen. It's what I do.

tj2001cobra 08-04-2003 07:49 PM

I like my ability to communicate. I can strike up a conversation with any type of person and make them feel comfortable being around me.

My fiance is always amazed at how all of her "difficult" relatives warm right up to me and end up having a great time when I meet them.

aintyoboyfriend 08-04-2003 07:55 PM

I am proud of the fact that I have a good job and not only go to it everyday, but enjoy what I am doing, at my age.

spectre 08-04-2003 08:21 PM

I'm proud of the fact that I'm helping out with a pediatric oncology picnic for the sixth straight year. It's always nice to see the looks on the kids' faces when they can forget about the pain for a bit and have a little fun. :)

Infinite Hybrid 08-04-2003 09:39 PM

I'm proud that I'll will be soon turning 19 in a couple of mouths and have not had any of the various pitfalls many other indivduals have had (STD, got a girl preganat, no drugs, no jail time, etc.)

I'm not saying that I look down on anyone, I've just learned from others mistakes and looking at some of my family's history, it means a lot.

KeyserSoze 08-04-2003 09:41 PM

dy156 08-05-2003 09:03 AM

This may be gay and shallow, but here goes:
My freshman year at college I rushed several fraternities, but really wanted a bid from one. I did not get a bid because two graduating seniors thought I was too much of a dork. The next year, against my better judgmnet and at the urging of some of the members, I rushed again.
My senior year at homecoming, when I was president of this fraternity, I was gracious and nice to the guys who came back who had kept me out as a struggling freshman.

Minx 08-05-2003 10:07 AM

On a small scale...my ability to get along with almost anyone.
On a big scale...the fact that I am raising my two boys with no financial help from anyone.

soberness is wonderful if you ask me.

i am proud of my ability to make friends with anyone if i wish. i am proud that, even though i can never type or spell them right, I am sometimes a master of words.

TwistedFate 08-05-2003 03:32 PM

I am proud that I had the strength to walk away from a 7 year marriage while I could still be friends with her, even when I had no job and no place to live.

drawerfixer 08-05-2003 04:26 PM

I fixed a drawer once. My mom was proud of me. I shall carry it with me the rest of my life.

sexymama 08-05-2003 05:00 PM

Raising a very difficult, rebelious, angry step-son to adulthood -- including graduating from high school (not in special ed. despite the fact that his biological mother thought he needed special ed.) and obtaining a respectable job in the milatary. Now he is planning his future career and standing on his own!

I was most proud when the twin step-son toasted me at their high school graduation for being the "best mom a kid could ask for." (And biological mom was in the room.):D

raeanna74 08-05-2003 05:22 PM

I proud of how I think I made a difference in the life of one little autistic girl. When I was 20 I worked at a day care where we had a lot of special kids - most from abusive homes and in foster care along with others who had special needs. One little girl was a head banger and had 3-4 fits a day. None of the teachers wanted to deal with her when she had her fits and the head teacher was left to deal with it instead. When I started there I was happy to help her and the other teachers were glad to cover for me in exchange for them not having to deal with it. She had a pearcing scream and would kick, thrash and bang her head unless you restrained her for about 10-15 minutes every time. She was about 3 and still small enough to restrain simply by holding her closely. I would hug her and rock her and murmur "I love you (insert her name)" over and over. I was there for about 8 months and by the time I left to begin college she had begun to come out of her shell and calm. She even went a couple times for a whole day without a fit near the end of my time. I wish I could see how she is doing now. When I left I told her every day for a couple weeks that I was going to be leaving and showed her on the calender when it was going to happen. She was to the point where she would come running to me when I arrived in the morning. It was a thrill to see this sweet, beautiful child go from a recluse and harming herself and others to so much more calm and loving. I hope I have the chance to work with more children like her.

sta500 08-05-2003 07:01 PM

The fact that I've never done drugs, alcohol, or smoked. If any of my friends light up NEAR my yard/house, I tell them to put it out or leave. If I'm in public, I'll leave. God I hate smoking.

My Mom and I have been trading financial help between each other since I was 16, either I was broke or she was broke. I'm proud that I've always been able to help her when she needed me.

Good God, man. If this is one of the LITTLE things you do that you are proud of, what do you do that's a big deal? Donate organs?

grayman 08-05-2003 11:34 PM

I fixed the keyboard drawer on my computer desk with slides I salvaged from an old beaten up dresser.

Fremen 08-05-2003 11:36 PM

I whistle real loud without using my fingers.

Elitegibson 08-06-2003 12:54 AM

Little thing that I'm proud of? Well, that'd have to be my penis. Other than that, my ability to lay hands on computers and fix them magically.

*EDIT* Well, sometimes I don't just lay hands on them, I say ancient incantations that were passed down to me by witchAdmins.

UncleFluffer 08-06-2003 12:57 AM

my 5 week old son woke up the whole house at 4am today. after tending to him for an hour, my wife and i were prickly at best. instead of staying there quarrelling, stewing, pouting, i went for a jog & now i'm at work & feel a hell of a lot better!

Nikki, as a former photog, one thing I would never do was weddings. Too much hassle, too much stress and no matter how well you thought you did, someone wasn't happy.

Guess I'm trying to say I'm proud of you too. :)

For me, I was asked to help out at a convention in another state. They're paying my way and giving me a sizable honorarium for my "Expertise." Nice to know people respect my opinion in my field and that I'm doing some good.

emmdubbs 08-06-2003 05:55 AM

the ability to have the faith that i do, and be able to share it with others with out the fear of persecution and/or death. It's scary how some missionaries feel the same way, and are punished for what they believe...
so in a sense i guess i'm proud that i can live the life that i want to.

Plummie 08-06-2003 08:58 AM

I'm proud of having a fairly good relationship with my parents.

When I was going through adolescence, teen years, and even my undergraduate studies, we were never close.

Things are slowly changing now.

izzzzy 08-06-2003 04:04 PM

my 11 year old sons name is neil young . one day i put his name on one of those shamrocks they sell for a buck for bene fit of jerrys kids. about a week or so later there was kurt cobain ,jerry garcia etc .it caught on so iv been doing it ever since.

remiel 08-06-2003 04:09 PM

I'm proud of the fact that my wife and I planned and did everything for our wedding ourselves. I really didn't want to have a wedding planner and 400 people making decisions for us, so we did it all. We found the venue, arranged the food, the drink, the seating, the cake, my wife made her own dress... it was stressful as hell, but we can look back and think that we made that day.
