I remember at my friend's house once he ate chips with a plastic sandwich bag around his hand and I thought it was the wierdest thing I'd ever seen. However, I now almost always do the same thing since it's so nice not to have grease all over my hands.

Soda seems like a more appropriate term for soda anyways ;) I have an aunt from Washington (the state) who says pop.

Habits picked up from friends? Not really weird things, just certain things they do. I have a friend who has very proper, erect posture. I used to slouch, but he kind if got me into walking up-right.

Cheese around the bannana. My brother used to always eat his bannanas with cheese wrapped around them, I thought he was weird until I tried it.

Go on, get to your kitchen before someone beats you to the last bannana.

using hot sauce on popcorn - common enough practice apparently, but never did that at all before my stretch in the military. Always use it now if possible.

An ex-coworker got me hooked on sweet pickle and peanut butter sandwiches... actually isn't too bad at all.

My boyfriend only opens cans of pop (note: pop NOT soda) half way. After spending a couple of months with him, I found myself doing the exact same thing.

one of my friends got me snapping my fingers whenever i say hi to people, not really weird so much as irritating :D

I brush my teeth in the shower too! I started doing it when I was in college in the dorms b/c it saved time in the morning, but boy do your teef feel fresh and clean!

When we have corn on the cob I always slice off the corn with a knife and eat it with a fork. Everyone around tells me how weird I am with thier mouths , faces , hands and teeth covered in corn.

Still drawing a blank on habits I have picked up.....although there must be tons.

However, this thread is reminding me of one my wife has picked up from me. Now, even when I am not there, she can't take the item at the front of the shelf at the grocery store. She/I have to grab one from the back.

I suspect I picked it up from someone else.....just can't remember who.

I tend to smoke a smoke in about 1 1/2 mins. Nasty habit I have stop.

When I was in college there was a pizza joint that served honey with the pizza. Always thought it was freakish... Then I tried... actually pretty good... Now I make a point of getting some honey for my pizza about 50% of the time

One of my South African friends has me calling the remote control the 'bopper'

I was staying at a mate's place and saw his razor in the shower. Ever since, I've shaved in the shower

And then there's vegemite and honey sandwiches...

Had a boss once who ate M&M's one color at a time, now I find myself doing it. I do it with Skittles as well.

I do that as well (bass pics actually. Much thicker than git pics) but because it adds texture and prevents the pic from slipping while in use.

You know, I've heard of that, and years ago, decided to try it to see if it worked...it doesn't. Hands get all sticky, and if you cum a lot (like I do), it'll drip through the sock and on the floor anyways.

My fiance has made me a lot more relaxed (and sloppy). I am not sure if this is a good thing or not. My house used to be immaculate and clean all of the time but now it stays kind of messy. She claims that is part of her charm :hmm:

When going out to eat my friend always put the half and half creamer in ice water for a few minutes than drink, I aways thought that was sick until he convince me to try it. Now I do the same thing.

I dont know but I wish someone would try crumbling up a bit of chocolate chip cookie into a burrito. Man its good. I used do it in bean and cheese burritos. mmm. I have a coworker who eat banana and mayo sandwiches. I refuse to try it.

French Fries and Maple syrup....not sure who i picked it up from...but damn is it good.

My ex-gf would open her coke can and then rotate the tab 90 degrees counter-clockwise. It was easier to find YOUR can when there were other around (like at a party). I started doing the same but clockwise. Now I can't drink from a can without turning the tab; it doesn't feel right on my lips.

I dip french fries in Vannilla frostie icecream cones. Can't help it.

Mostly I've noticed myself and folks I hang around with picking up phrases from each other.

This can be an amusing game of "new phrase of the week" at the office.

examples...

"that's not too pretty good" coined to indicate a fairly bad situation.

"technian" coined by a typo and used to address hardware technicians.

Also I am Canadian, so "pop" was always my word, but since my sister has been living in the states for a few years, I've picked up the word "soda" from her, and use it about 50% of the time now.

My son always wants to go through checkout line #7 at the grocery for good luck. Maybe someone will start doing that now.

These were already mentioned, but I also sometimes brush in the shower and eat french fries dipped in ice cream. I also use to squeeze out condiments from the packets onto a napkin and dip my fries into it, but now I make a tear in the corner packet and squeeze out the ketcup onto the individual fry like toothpaste instead. It's less messy that way too.

A friend has OCD and never liked the television volume on an odd number, so know I always find myself putting it on even numbers.

Using dvorak - comp sci roomate started using it to be l337er but it does feel more natural and I am typing faster

Eating french fries with honey mustard sauce - didn't pick it up from anyone, the guy who took my order simply messed it up but nowadays I regard ketchup as the work of the devil meant to deprive people of discovering the true bliss that is honey mustard

Going shirtless whenever I use my computer - My other roomate did it because he said it was 80'- and he was enamored with the 80's

I also ended up going from sleeping in shorts to sleeping naked after having my ex-fiance live with me for awhile and picking it up from her (wasn't an ex then).

I now drink canned soda from the side of my mouth; this way, your nose doesn't get in the way, and you don't have to tilt your head back so far.

Most of my habits are made by me. I say godspeed, I got that from The Rock, I always liked how it sounded, so I say that instead of bye now. Kind of like that, "Dont say bye, say see you later" idealism.

When I drink a can of soda (rarely) I pop the tab, then I turn it around and pull it off. Then I slip it into the soda. I cant say why I do this, seeing as how most of the time it will float at the top (pepsi is what Ive noticed). But hey, its habit now.

My uncle and my aunt do that. They are brother and sister. I always find it funny. I pull mine off for identification, and its habit, see the post above.

EDIT: I also wear my socks inside out.

A bar I used to go to always had baskets of popcorn out for customers, with a shaker of Worcestershire sauce. Now it's my favorite way to eat popcorn (no need to add salt).

Also, I used to have a friend (male) who was so lazy, he peed sitting down. Many years and one bad back later, I sometimes find myself doing it first thing in the morning, before I've had time to stretch my back.

In my younger days - we <i>all</i> used to drink like that. Of course, back then, they were even <i>called</i> pull-tabs. whenever we'd finish a beer, we'd shake the can to hear that sound of a pull-tab rattling around on the bottom (just to ensure it was really empty). Of course, having them in the can made us less likely to slice our fingers open playing with them.

when you pour some soda and it fizzes up a lot too make it go down faster stick your finger in your ear so ya have a lil earwax residue and then touch it to the fizz and it will make it go down faster then just touching it without the wax!

My friend used to always put french fries in his hamburger before he ate it. I thought it was odd, but now I do the same :(
