Just curious as to the marital status ratios of folks on TFP...

"Committed etc." is intended to encompass long term committed relationships. Ex: Gay/Lesbian Couples who live in a local that does not recognize non-hetro marriages.

Just celebrated 9th Wedding anniversary.

I made it 5 years on my "starter" marriage, and have just passed the 8 year mark this past July 8, with the current Mrs. O'Rights.

Almost 5 years with #3 and it feels like I am wise enough finally to have made an intelligent choice. #1 was too early in life, but ok then just crashed. #2 was a total mistake (trophy wife!) and cost me a fortune to dump (but worth every penny).

Looking back, it doesn't make sense to get married before you're about 30, give or take a few years. There's a huge difference between "grown up" and "mature."

a piece of paper says i'm still married, but that union ended when she started camwhoring behind my back. the divorce is pending.

fortunately, i'm now with the only one i ever plan on being with. it dosen't get any better than that.

Married 4 yrs this past april with Dei37. It's been an open marriage for over 1 year and I think it's really strengthened things. It brings up some deep issues that we have dealt with and have learned to trust each other so much more for it.

Unmarried here, due to age and not finding the right gal yet. However, just this year I hit that age where friends start getting married - I think I have seen 5 engagements this summer! I almost feel left out!

Also, I like Bundy's declaration of being triumphantly alone! Made me laugh out loud in appreciation...

Not many divorcees here...strange. I was married for 3 years and I have been divorced for 10 years. I was lucky...I kept my son, I still get along with his mother. None of the divorced guys I know have been so fortunate. I know I will never remarry.

Angela...possibly. If you trust each other explicitly, and aren't overly jealous, it CAN work. We do it for a combination of the sex and friendships. We've made some friends, and had a lot of sex. If you want to know more, contact either myself, or my wife, raeanna74.

Never married. Still in college as of now, but I do plan on getting married some day. It's definately tough finding commited girls though. It seems like all the like to do here is drink and have sex. :(

I've been married for four years now... I wouldn't change a thing.

I'm married and can't imagine myself being anyplace else. We were watching a show today that said 10% of married couples only have sex twice a month after 10 years of marriage. When we were first married, we had sex about 2 to 3 times a week, but she didn't really enjoy it much (she was a virgin when we got married). Now we have sex 3 to 4 times a week, and it is much more enjoyable. For me, marriage has just gotten better with time. The frequency of sex is, of course, related to the strength of the relationship. We now spend much more time talking together and spending one-on-one time without the children.

Never married, came close to engagement but the gf at the time thought otherwise. Now I could possibly see myself with my most recent ex (long story), but there are some outside factors/issues in that.

Happily devoted to my hand ;)

Personally, it hasn't made much difference to me. I planned on staying together before we got married.

Married for 10 years this Sept. September eleventh to be more precise. Weird, I used to think of 9/11 as my anniversary, I don't anymore...kind of sad actually.

Just celebrated my five year anniversary Friday. Never been happier. Hope I have many more years like this.

About seven and a half years, loving it and loving her.

Never really wanted to get married, but if you meet the right person, it just sort of happens.

I am in #3 and its the last one........ first one we were way too young. 18 and 17 for her. After about 2 years one day we were eating dinner and she turns to me and asks...." do you still want to be married?" I said not really ... we had the best divorce in divorce history. No lawyers. She took her stuff I took mine... If we lived in the same state I am sure we would still be friends. This was all about 20 years ago.... got married again this one was a "till Death do you part " marriage. Well, after about a year and a half she died. Talk about totally sucking. That was a ways back also. Now, I am married with 2 kids . My daughter 6 and son almost 3. On the 25th of Aug will be married 8 years. Happy as I can be!

I went with commited since I've been with my girlfriend for almost six years, we live together, she's on my insurance, etc. Just haven't done the marriage thing yet.

not married. too young. not sure if i even want to get married. i'm open to it.. but it's not something i HAVE to do to feel fulfilled. but when i date, it DOES come down to.. "could i see a life partnership with this person?" i just want compatibility.. i've yet to find that. *shrugs*
