TFP Referral contest
 

Ok, I don't know about a prize I can offer for the winner of this contest, but we can offer bragging rights if nothing else. This contest is fairly simple.

Simply refer as many useful people to the TFP as you can. The user who's referrals from now until the end of August accumulate the most (qualified) posts wins the contest.

To get credit for your referral, send your friends to the following link:

http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/index.php?referrerid=XXX

replace XXX with your user id #
To get your user id #, click on the "profile" button underneath one of your posts and find the section of the URL that says "userid=###" the number after the = is your user id #

Another way to get credit is to make sure that your friends type in your exact username in the 'referral' field in their registration form.

I have a few people that i have referred... but they didnt type me in... only a couple of them i would actually be willing to have been the referer....

Glad to see registration open, and I'll do my best to bring on board more people that will (hopefully) love and appreciate all of the work put into this site as much as I do.

I see a fewpeople in the newbies section referred by DelayedReaction, but no referral statistics.. uh oh

so.. DelayedReaction has a commanding lead so far.. would people get involved more if there was some prize to be offered?

Honestly, I don't think a prize would do it. I think the main issue (at least for me) is that most of my friends already have gone ahead and registered (without punching me in as the referer) quite some time ago, and those who haven't registered aren't really into the online forum thing.

I'd imagine that most other people who've been here for quite a while are in the same situation.

Can you put 'commanding' into context? By 10, 100, ...?

I always like to run a race when I can at least see the leader. Otherwise, it changes the race and I compete with myself more.

I'm about to put my website live (which will have a lot of traffic from other online cliques) but I still don't think I can catch up with DelayedReaction so I'll just give them the link w/o referral. It's the same in the end.

Thanks for the stats Hal. I guess I never thought about having to censor myself, but screw that anyway. The people I turned on were (are) my friends, so I wouldn't be any different on here than I am with them now.

I think crafty has it right (and since I'm not winning I can say this with confidence) - who cares about who is "winning" as long as the new members contribute? I think that's one of the problems with how I introduced the TFP to my friends. I assumed they might actually post instead of just signing up, so I didn't tell them to sign up AND participate. I just invited them to check it out.

If you could publish the stats once or twice more before the end of the month Hal, that would be great. Or I can go look myself (as soon as I figure out how).

This is the first time I saw this topic and I'm up for a challenge. Although many have had a huge headstart over me already.

Bump of sorts, I just noticed this column on my CP and was wondering if there is a way to find out who referred me, as I have no friends and am not sure who would have put me down as their referrer.
