I have an idea INSTEAD of donations.
 

1. Sell cool ass Tilted T-Shirts. Come out with your own line of clothing. Take it all the way!

2. Have a raffle where you can win something.

3. Have members come up with ways to make money. It's a sweet ass forum, man. Make money off it.

Donations are great...but, they are not fun!

For example, I would rather participate in a 5k Walk/Run or Carnival or Festival and spend $20 on a t-shirt or silly games then to simply write a check to a favorite charity.

(not comparing TFP to a charity)

Another example...

Who would you rather give to?

A bum who holds a sign "will work for food" or
a bum who plays violin or drums or something?

(not comparing TFP to bums)

Just ideas. Feedback please.

Great Idea with the shirts. Come up with a cool logo or something. I would totally go for one!!

If you wanna add a few hours onto my day, maybe we could get it done. For now, all of my resources are tapped.

Indeed. I have loads of hardware around here at the shop and if I need anything I can always.. um... requesition it.

I could sell myself to other TFP members and donate all my earnings back to the site?

You know, I might be able to have the shirts made and shipped. We get shirts made for our fencing team every year, I doubt it would be too much trouble, although I don't know how expensive they would be.

If this is about the financial cost involved in running this community, then take the next step and charge a membership fee after a certain trail period. A bronze, silver and gold membership program . Be clear and concise about the rationale. As far as I can acertain there seems to be a system of different levels of access in place already, so this wouldn't come as too much of a shock.

If the t-shirt thing ever get serious someone should start a thread in the photochoping forum to get some ideas out there. Some of the people in there can do some pretty amazing things, I am sure they could come up with some really cool designs.

I know a few people in the webcomic business that use some of those online t-shirt shops (not CafePress). I may be able to question them, see about using whatever sources they have to make t-shirts if there's sufficient interest.

I know I'd definitely be interested in it, depending upon the shirt.

I good friend of mine runs a printing shop where he can also do tshirts. I can probably get a deal on them.

That would be a huge pain for those of us without credit cards. It would also be annoying to mail checks to the US from Canada. Donating and receiving a donor tag is sorta like a gold member thing anyways, no need to cut off the majority of the community with membership fees. Its not the fee that bothers me, but getting the money to the people.

If there was a sweetass TFP Tshirt, I would DEFINITELY buy one.

t shirt idea is good, but it takes lots of work and most mods esp. hal already have lots of work to do. so post links to sites that will do the tshirt thing and profits goto TFP. i think there are a buncha places where u can submit your logo and they will make like mouse pads tshirts etc for your company, that arent very expensive and u get profits.

if the tfp shirt thing ever comes to be, please make a HUGE deal of it. Like have a big ol banner and such, i dont want to miss that!

there WERE some killer t-shirts that were going to be or were being sold during v3... I would've bought one if I weren't too broke to pay attention.

I think that would be unfair to many of us that dont have a credit card. If I could, i would donate, but unfortunately I cant. But I try to make up or it by participating more....
