I don't pretend to understand the vagaries of the Universe. Why did my brother, whom I loved dearly and who touched a lot of people, die at 25 in a stupid accident, when my worthless uncle who shoots up, yells at my grandmother, and passes out has made it to 45? Who knows what each person is supposed to learn in this lifetime, or how long it will take them to do it, or what their spirit needs? I would gladly have moved in with my brother and carted him around in a wheelchair and fed him if that's what it took just to have one more year, or even one more day with him, but that's not the life he wanted. His death had meaning for me, just as his life did. I don't understand it and it's not the way I wanted things to happen, but there's nothing I can do about it and railing at the Universe will only make me more unhappy.

The sooner you stop seeking justice and start seeking wisdom the happier you'll be.

I had my Billy Joel 'rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints' lyric all teed up for my reply...then I read all of Warrrreagl's post.

I am so sorry to hear of your situation. I can't imagine the range of feelings you two must great each day with. And on top of that, you've got a dickhead of a brother-n-law proving the unfairness of life. I feel for ya, man.

Maybe not the good die young...but merely the assholes catch a lot of breaks. Overall my stoner uncle has been really living an easy life with my grandmother out in Cali...but honestly I don't really care that much because he still works and my grandmother is rather old so in fact he does take care of her as opposed to just throwing her in a home.

I do agree that assholes come a dime a dozen and manage to live easy lives while people who bust there ass off get no respect.

We have to face the fact that life is unfair sometimes. Growing up, I knew three kids that died in horribly painful manners from disease. All were very kind and very nice. The oldest was about fourteen. It does suck that things like this happen to good people, while some assholes just skate through life without any real cares. Unfortunately, life isn't always just.

I wish the best to you and your wife.

I have thought about this many times.

The conclusion I have come to is that the good die young because they have served their purpose here on earth.

While the evil people stay because they have much to learn about life before they can leave.

I'm not sure that the world runs on a particular principle, or is fair. But sometimes the good die old, and that's a fact.

Simple, one hardship and their karma is light.. but if they do it all their life.. then they'll have so much bad karma... well... You'll be able to laugh at them later on

I think that one of the very things that makes someone a 'bad' person is that they somehow got lucky and managed to go through their whole lives taking their health and everything else for granted, without ever considering loss, stress or hardship.

So where do they get their comeuppance? Well, assuming their 'luck' holds, they will reach the age of 90 and look back and see what a shallow, worthless and spiritually empty person they truly were for such a very long time.

I feel for you warrreagle, my wife is also sick and I know what you are going through. Is there any hope her condition will turn around? The prognosis for my wife used to be very bleak and has gotten much better over time. I hope the same might happen for you.
