Are you a Trusty Shellback?
 
Curious to know, with all the current and former military around, how many of us have been initiated into the order of the trusty shellbacks, and how many are slimy wogs.

Myself, I'm a Golden Shellback, duly initiated aboard USS Kitty Hawk in March '97.

I crossed both at the same time but was under the impression that is what made a Golden Shellback. Never heard of the Dragon part.

Sailors that have only crossed one are usually just referred to as Shellbacks.

Golden Dragon is crossing the dateline. Shellback is the Equator, so if you cross at 0 and 180, you are a Golden Shellback.

Much more rare is the Emerald Shellback, who crosses at 0 and 0 (Prime Meridian).

Same here. I've done it four times. It's different now. They make it way easy on everyone now. It was pure hell when I first went through (firehoses soaked in salt water for weeks and two month old garbage uhhh...). Of course maybe it was beacuse of the Wog's Rebellion, the night before. Fun times.
