Are there any words of wisdom you’d like to pass along?

(This is the ME in the group sense. It is everyone who is reading this thread, it is anyone who googles and finds this thread. Me, is everyone and anyone.)

Are there any words of wisdom you’d like to pass along to me?

Don't sweat it, you'll fail. Failing is good, it's part of the process. It's because someone failed more than you that they excelled more than you. Give it a try, if you fail. Try again. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be good enough to not fail, and then you can perfect it.

One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.

Always carry a pack of breath mints. If you think your breath is less than fresh, have a mint. If someone's breath is less than fresh and the situation allows, have a mint for yourself and offer them one. If it's not an appropriate time to offer a breath mint or a stranger declines your offer, grin and bear it; if a friend declines a breath mint, offer again with a stern look on your face.

Never, under any circumstances, decline an offer of a breath mint.

When things get black, keep your head down and don't stop - you're just gonna have to trudge through it. On the other side laughter and your old self are waiting for you.

also, you will never be any good to anyone else until you are good to yourself. be selfish for the ones you love. they will love you for it. (this meaning psychologically, of course, not materially)

"Imagination is more important than knowledge." -Albert Einstein

"Imagination is just madness wearing a nice shirt" -Me

"Human salvation lies in the hands of the creatively maladjusted." -Martin Luther King, Jr.

Never let the world grind you down into homogeny, all greatness in this world has come from what was at the time considered madness. I don't mean the small-time crazy that lives in it's own little world inside someone's head... I mean the real stuff, I'm talking about the kind of crazy that stands up and says "No." and changes everyone ELSE'S world too.

But even beyond that being mature, productive, or classy simply does not necessitate being boring and unhappy. Pay attention to children, they know the real priorities. I mean think about it... when was the last time you saw a butterfly? Do you even remember? Did you stop to watch? What about a four leaf clover, how recently have you combed over a clover patch looking for one?

These are the simple things we lose when we become too concerned with great matters of consequence that are of no great consequence at all, and with their loss we also lose a very important spart that can lead to greatness in our lives. The guy that gets the promotion for coming up with the phenomenal solution is seldom the guy that never jumps in the fountain when it's 90 degrees and his bus home is late. Never let someone tell you that one person can't make a difference, that you can't change the world. The Jews say that he who destroys a life has destroyed an entire world... the same is true in reverse. When you change one life you have changed an entire world, their world. And perhaps yours as well.

"We can live without religion and meditation, but we cannot survive without human affection." -the 14th Dalai Lama

By that same token remember what else is really important in life. Spending too much time working to provide for your family isn't going to be worth anything if you lose your family for that very same reason. The same with your friends.

Violence is the last resort of the unintelligent and the unimaginative

If there's something wrong and you have the ability to take action then you have a responsibility to take action.

"There is no justice, there's Just Us."

Going back to the first point... it really does just take one person to change the world. One person to stand up and say "this is wrong", one to share a Dream, One person to ask if at long last someone has left no sense of decency, or One person to ask us to be their neighbor when we are all alone in the night.

In spiritual growth, it is important to avoid imbalances between academic or intellectual learning and practical implementation. Otherwise there is a danger that too much intellectualization will kill the more contemplative practices and too much emphasis on practical implementation without study will kill the understanding. There has got to be a balance.

Yep. Exactly. You miss that shot, it's not the end of the world. There's plan B, and maybe plan C and if not, then maybe you ought to evaluate your options and see what you can do. Unless that shot was meant to stop someone from ending your life, at which point, my advice is useless anyway.
