Where is your cellphone?
Where do you put your cellphone when you are home?
and where do you put it when you are at work? When I am home, my cell is on the kitchen counter, closest to the back wall of the house as possible. That is the only place I get some sort of signal. Right now, it sits in my Weight Watcher scale. When I am at work, my cell has a nice comfy chair: http://lh5.ggpht.com/_O8YoEptfjoY/TN...1105105915.jpg |
During the day, it's on my desk beside me in the home office.
At night, it's on my dresser at the end of my bed because I use it for my alarm. |
My phone moves around with me. At work it plugs into a USB cable that's plugged into my computer, but it doesn't have a designated 'spot.' This is a source of great stress for me.
At home it sits on my laptop until bedtime, and then it moves to the headboard. This is because I also use my phone as an alarm, so it had to be next to my head or I won't wake up for work. |
Usually, my phone is in my pocket. At home, it may end up on the table beside me while I'm at the computer. At work, it is generally in my pocket, because I don't have a desk.
|
My personal phone is shut off and in a desk drawer in the kitchen. I really need to change it to a pay-as-you-go plan. I think I've used it once in the past month.
My work phone sits on the desk top in the kitchen. |
At home it's on the kitchen counter plugged in to its charger, or next to me where I'm sitting if I'm expecting a call, or plugged into my laptop or desktop if I'm downloading music into it.
In work it's on my desk or if I leave my desk it's in my pocket. In my car I have OEM integrated bluetooth so the phone is in cubby under the center armrest. I know you didn't ask about the car but I figured I'd throw in a little brag on the integrated bluetooth which I think should be mandatory in all cars and anyone using a hand held cellphone while driving should do 5 days in the clinker for 1st offense, more if repeat offender ;) I suppose if I turn on the "Location Services" and send a tweet all of you would know where my phone is! It's an iphone...I think other 3G and 4G phones also have Location Services. |
My phone sits in a wooden organizer with the fifty other items I carry around with me every day. I keep it on me when I'm expecting a call at home.
http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...ingRoom2-1.jpg When I've got pants on and I'm outside, I keep it in my from left pocket. My GI Joe pouch goes in the front right next to the knife. Wallet in back left. |
I don't know. It moves from place to place depending on the weather since I may have a jacket or bag. Usually it is on my belt in a holster.
|
Right now it's on the arm of the couch next to me.
Usually it's in my pocket when I'm out, and somewhere on a table or counter in the same room with me when I'm home. |

On my home desk I have a corded landline phone with three cordless extensions. Courtesy of the previous owner, my home also has plenty of phone jacks, so I have cheap corded phones all over the place, including the bathroom, the garage, and both sides of my bed. I also have a landline at work, with fax, voicemail, and a shared support person who answers incoming and takes messages. I use my cell to make calls, mostly when traveling, but I rarely receive calls on my cell, and guard my number jealously. My last incoming cell call was from a SAAB mechanic in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. Probably not more than a dozen people/businesses have my cell number. I don't need to be constantly in touch and actually enjoy:) being being unavailable to the world at large. Lindy |
between my legs right now.

Don't own one.
Reception in the mountains is spotty and my employer has me on a short enough leash without one. |

don't own one; don't need one...

At work, the phone is off in my bag and at home, it is on the coffee table or night stand.
|
Never more than a couple of feet from me. Right now in my shirt pocket. I work out of my house and I have set my Vonage office phone to also ring my cell. If I leave my office I always take my cell phone.

My last 3 cars had bluetooth. Second greatest option ever. (GPS is #1) |
Gawh! I feel so out of it.
Forgot where I put it. I've not left the house on my own in so long... :D |
Generally it's in my pocket, both at work and at home, except for when I sleep, and then it's on my end table next to my bed because I use it as my alarm, and I charge it there overnight.
|
It's in my pocket all the time (except when it's charging)
|
I keep mine in my belt holster, clipped to my belt, day and night, regular pants or pajamas.
My landline's ringer is turned off. |
When I am at home, it sits on top of a television set.
When I am not at home, it is kept in my front, right pants pocket with my keys. I have one pair of pants with an extra right pocket for my phone, but they are not appropriate enough for me to wear to work. I know I should work out a better system, but this is my pattern for now. |

I hardly ever use the thing. I don't wish to be on call or to ever be that accessible.
If someone needs me, they will have to wait until I return. |
At home I usually carry it from room to room. At work it is usually plugged into my work station. Can't really carry it around at work, too much risk between acid, oil and sweat. Only exception to that is if I know I am going to be stuck outside without much to do.
|
At home it's plugged in to charge. The USB port on the front of my cable box doesn't actually do anything, but because it's USB standard compliant it provides the necessary power to charge my phone even when my computer goes to sleep.
Everywhere else it's either in my front left pocket, the breast pocket of my coat, or in my hands while I pass the time in the bathroom or sitting in a storage closet playing Angry Birds. In the car, I plug it in and run a Pandora station or stream a podcast, and I check Google Maps to see how fucked the rest of my commute is. Quote:
