How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

Pretty straightforward question, but here are some ways you can elaborate on it: What are some timesaving tricks you have? Do you prefer to take little time to get ready, or a lot? Do you take a short shower or a long one?

It takes me about 15 minutes to get ready in the morning. I hop in the shower, brush my teeth while I'm in there, and hop out about 5 minutes later. I moisturize my face, my body, and put on antiperspirant, then I get dressed and put on my shoes. I might consider running a brush through my hair, though usually my fingers suffice. My showers are short--much shorter than my husband's--because growing up, the motto in my household was that "you only have time for the Three S's--shower, shit, and shave." I don't wear makeup when I go to work.

I like to take as little time as possible to get ready; I prefer to spend my time in the mornings drinking coffee, reading TFP, and eating breakfast.

How about you?

i like to take my time; i'm not really going anywhere. half hour for the three Ss, 5 minutes or so to dress, and that's about it...

I can take as little as 20 minutes to get ready if I don't really care how I look that day or as much as an hour if I am trying to look really nice.

For me this all varies greatly on what I need to do. My showers take about 15 minutes if I have to shave and I like to let conditioner sit in my hair for about 3-5 minutes. Once I am out, it takes me another 5-10 minutes to detangle my hair and separate my bangs from the rest. A few minutes to flat iron the bangs and then add product to my hair so it doesn't try to take over the world or become one big snarl by the end of the day. If I am straightening my hair, well that is an entirely different story. Preferably, I would have showered the night before so my hair is dry, then it takes about 30-45minutes to straiten it.

Whew! My hair is my most time consuming event.

My make up can take me anywhere from 5 minutes to do something simple like concealer, powder and eyeliner. I cannot leave the house with out these three things. This sounds bad, but I have tried in the past and my face gets super oily and I feel like shit all day. If I want my eyes to look really nice then makeup takes me about 10-15. All this includes moisturizing, tweezing the brows, etc.

The rest is fairly short. Swipe deodorant, spritz some Clinique Happy, slip on undergarments (some days this takes longer depending on my coordination wrangling the girls into a bra). Throw on clothes and socks and shoes, unless I'm going a la flip flop.

Now, if I am going somewhere with smrt on the motorcycle, I have to add another 15 minutes to put on my boots and suit up.

Oh and brushing my teeth is one of the first things I do in the morning.

This is my regime almost exactly, except my showers might run ten minutes. I love showers! I use baking soda instead of toothpaste, and I'll sometimes use a hairdryer and a hair pik. I towel off, put on deodorant. Bra, panties, clothes, shoes. Lip gloss sometimes, no other makeup.
Breakfast sometimes, today it was eggs, tilapia, whole wheat toast. Brief look at the paper, sometimes Weather Channel, feed the cat, and I'm off. If I don't have breakfast at home, I'm half-an-hour from alarm clock to garage door opener.

Depends on the day...

Regular day, 15-20 minutes:
Feed kitties breakfast, shower (not long at all), dry hair with round brush (takes less time now that it's short), brush and floss teeth, moisturize face, naked bathroom dance, put on clothes (usually pick out the night before or think about in the shower), pet the kitties, grab some breakfast type food and then out the door.

"Special" days (Meeting with donor, big event/dog and pony show, research interview with faculty, etc.), 30-35 minutes:
All the above with special attention to hair (Straightener) and makeup session

I suppose one of the things that helps me save time is that I don't wash my hair every day. I wash it every 3-4 days. Even then, I don't always bust out the hair dryer or the flat iron in the morning. For example, I washed it Monday morning, but then I straightened it a bit that evening.

20 minute shower (I'm painfully extroverted, and shower time is the only time I need alone in a day, so I enjoy it), 5 minutes to put on clothes.. three minutes walking around doing who knows what.. probably grabbing the laundry I forgot in the dryer, cleaning up the pile of shit I left laying out the night before, rummaging for a fresh fruit (I'll probably opt to go without it) on the counter, or saying bye to the lady. 30 minutes to round it out...

During the work week, it takes me 2 hours from start to finish. But that includes getting the kids packed for school, fed, dressed and out the door.

Me, myself? I wake at 5:09am. Done showering by 5:30. Dry hair, get dressed and put on make-up done by 6. Then I am in the kitchen, making coffee, feeding the cat, making my son's lunch and my own, eating breakfast - done by 6:30 so I can wake up my son (this is a struggle on most days).

We leave the house at 7:10am.

If it weren't for the kids, I could wake up later and still make it to work on time.

Happenstance of hitting snooze twice and catching it before it goes off a second time, or is there a particular reason for 5:09? Would your day be off if you woke up at 5:10 or 5:08? :-D

Today, I slept late, and was out the door 20 minutes after I got up. Ten minutes were spent outside with the puppy dog, then ten minutes for makeup, hair curling, and getting dressed. On days when I shower, add another 10-20 minutes (my shoulders and back are always sore in the morning, so I'll let the extra hot water loosen them up for about five minutes, then proceed with shampooing & such.) I don't like to wash my hair everyday, but more than two days without washing, and it gets noticeably greasy.

On days when I have more time, I'll take up to an hour to get ready, but that's more that I'm doing everything at a slower pace, and doing other things in between (getting online after the shower, eating a bowl of cereal before curling my hair, etc.)

15 minutes in the shower, including toothbrushing. 10 minutes of randomness with hair in a towel. 5 minutes to put on clothes, deoderant, mascara and eyeliner, comb hair and toss with fingers. 2 minutes to put on jewlery and locate retainers. 3 minutes to gather phones, Coke Zero, or whatnot and get down the stairs. I have to wash my hair at least once daily or it's horrific, but I don't blowdry it or do much to it at all. It's lovely.

Sometimes an additional 3 minutes to scoop the poop and wash hands if S isn't home.

actually, snoozing once. It rings at 5:00, hit snooze, it rings again at 5:09 and I get up.

Not really that long, I usually don't have to go until later in the evening meaning most of my afternoon can be filled up with random showers, tooth brushing and finding something to wear. All too often I finished getting ready long before I have to leave and wind up having to kill time before I take off.

I guess if I totalled up the time I take to get ready...I don't know, maybe 20-30 minutes tops between rolled out of bed troll look and snazzy, ready to conquer to the world man about town.

For me it's usually about 40 minutes until I'm out the door on work days. Part of my weekday morning ritual is doing the dishes from the night before, or if there's a lot I put them in the dishwasher.

But it goes: get up, pee, put on pj's, go downstairs to kitchen, set up my coffee mug with dripper and grinds, 2 cups of water into microwave for 5min44sec (takes this long to boil because it's cold from the refrigerator filter system but that water tastes better than the tap), as coffee is getting done I'm doing the dishes, sip coffee while proceeding, finish dishes; back upstairs to take less than 10 min. shower, dry off, shave (love my new electric), maybe drop the last "s" here if needed, then brush teeth, get dressed, grab wallet, comb, change, my two favorite pocket knives, and out the door.

I really can't tell you - there is no commute when you work from home, so time is a lot less of an issue. No real 'get to the office' deadline either

I *can* be ready in 5-10 minutes if needed, especially if I skip shaving, but that is a pretty rare occurrence.

I guess the actual getting ready part takes me about 35-45 minutes. 20 minutes in the shower (no lingering either), 6 minutes brushing teeth, 4 minutes to dry off approximately. 5 minutes to get dressed, 5 more to get my work crap together.

Getting ready or waking up?

Waking up, I get up between 5:00 and 5:15, drink coffee until 5:30 and then work out for about half an hour. Drink more coffee until about 6:30, hop in the shower which takes me about five minutes. (shampoo, rinse, condition and let sit while I soap up, rinse and out) Brush the teeths, hair, clean the ears and face, get dressed, I'm ready to go and out the door by 6:50.

So waking up time about an hour on a good day, actual getting ready to go time... twenty minutes.
