Ed Hardy clothing

I'm from Canada so I hadn't really heard about this in my area, but I've heard that these shirts are everywhere in the US.
I'm just wondering what everyone thinks of Ed Hardy designs? I completely love his style and am looking to get some of the shirts, they're just really expensive.
So my question is not really whether you think its worth it because i know most people won't think it is, but whether or not you like the designs? And also if you know of any other designers who do similar styles? Thanks!

They're not everywhere in the US, I've never seen them other than online. I certainly don't think they're worth the money, but I'm also not a fan of big gaudy designs and wouldn't wear that kind of stuff even if I got it for free.

I'm in Canada as well, and see them fairly often. They aren't my type of clothing. I like funky designs and all, theirs just aren't a fit for me. I have no problem paying what they are charging. However, they are so popular right now, it seems that if you own one, you really stand out as a guy who buys it simply to show off that you can afford to pay that much for a shirt.
I would recommend taking a look through www.revolveclothing.com they should have some clothing on there they you'll be interested in. Some more reasonably priced, some not.

Haven't seen these on campus or elsewhere.

Personally, I'm not a fan of providing free advertising to some designer I've never met.

They've been all over NY since last summer. The designs are supposed to look like tattoos and for what the clothes cost - you might as well just get the tatts.

Cool enough but not my style.

My only familiarity with Ed Hardy is that they were popular with "Guidos" that go to New York clubs back in mid-2007, according to Rob the Bouncer in his blog Clublife.

Quote:
Several Guidos were seen wearing tee shirts that said “Christian Audigier” on the back. The name “Christian Audigier” is printed in a script similar to the font used in the printing of “Ed Hardy” on the backs of the shirts that Guidos were wearing two weeks ago. During this two week period, the “Christian Audigier” name seems to have supplanted the “Ed Hardy” name in back-of-Guido-shirt popularity.

This seems odd, because “Christian Audigier” is evidently the designer of the “Ed Hardy” brand. Then again, I’m not privy to the memos.

I have yet to see a Guido wearing either a “Christian Audigier” or “Ed Hardy” shirt with Capri pants. I don’t know if this is a Guido faux pas. All I’m saying is that I haven’t seen it.

I recommend checking out etsy for designs that are probably even better than this, but usually cheaper and supporting an artist/craftsperson who actually screenprints their own art.

Not so much into the "oooh, dead stuff!" thing. Unless it's a zombie. Bring on the zombie gear.

That was completely inappropriate, so this is the extent of me acknowledging that.

As for everyone else, I can see how you wouldn't like them or think they're too expensive. I totally agree that they are very pricey, but I'm not going to replace my wardrobe or anything like that with them. I was just planning on buying one. I think everyone should own at least one piece of clothing that makes them happy. Thanks for everyone's input though!

Well, I'll just come right on out and say that not only are they outrageously expensive they're also, well, ugly. I'm not impressed by the designs at all. Nor are they original in the least. They look like t-shirts you might find at any super-truck stop in the bible belt.

This style has been around since the 50's. But back then it was associated with dangerous criminals and bikers. Now it's associated with frat guy date-rapists, and anyone that thinks they are too cool to not have a giant fucking design and a logo on their shirt. We had this trend come around a few years ago when everyone discovered Von Dutch. About 30 years to late I might add. Nothing was better then seeing hipster assholes with their Von Dutch hats on representing a known racist. At least Ed Hardy has some actually design to it's trend. Even if they are just rip offs of old Sailor Jerry tattoo designs...

These were all over Patong Beach when I was in Phuket last month. I've always kind of liked the Ed Hardy tattoos. They have a classic feel to them. But I don't like them on t-shirts. I think they look kind of stupid.

By that might just be me.

Which is the reason why i don't like them.

They're only made for skinny or muscular guys, so I'll never own one. I've never been huge into old school tattoos either, so the designs don't do anything for me. Plus the price is a huge deal-breaker for me.

If you like it, and can afford it, though, go for it.

They're EVERYWHERE in Southern California. From what I hear, my friends mostly buy them at outlet stores and cheap boutiques in Tijuana. Down in Mexico they can run to about 30 USD.. in the outlet stores here they're about $50-60.

While some of the designs are neat, every douche bar on Richmond is full of these shirts.

If you're willing to drop some money for design, try shopping at Lavish & Squalor on Queen West. If you want a hipster sort of look and want to pay next to nothing for it, try Black Market.

We have some pretty decent shopping in our city, and I think you can do better than Ed Hardy. Take an afternoon and walk Queen West (and do it before the weather is bad and all the hot ladies put their clothes back on!)
