funny thing happened yesterday night

I was sitting in the kitchen, watching some old shows on youtube and I heard this noise.

I looked down the corridor, and what do I see - a pair of eyes looking at me through my letterbox. I get up, go open the door, in time to see the door of the flat of the guy who lives above me slamming shut

Wierd or what? I wonder if he's some kind of peeping tom?

RangerJoe 09-07-2009 09:47 AM

That is creepy. I have a mail-slot in my bedroom. :(

JStrider 09-07-2009 10:55 AM

have the post office hold your mail for a couple weeks and rig up a pepper spray to it!

Tully Mars 09-07-2009 11:03 AM

Why would you have a mail slot in your bedroom?

Strange I'd be having a brief conversation with the guy. No hostility, no macho ego bull shit, just simply "why were you looking in my mail slot? Do me a favor don't do that again... please." Being assertive usually works well in these situations.

That guy definitely needs to be talked to.

Better still, have an LCD in front of the slot and when it opens, Rickroll him.

HAHA. Ya think?

I'd shoot him in the eye with a paintball gun.

LoganSnake 09-07-2009 01:04 PM

Should've ran at the door screaming your best warrior scream whilst holding a large knife in your hand. That'd make him shit his pants.

This... while naked. Problem solved. Would never happen again.

DaniGirl 09-07-2009 02:20 PM

that is creepy. :paranoid:

Punk.of.Ages 09-07-2009 03:14 PM

Fucking weird, dude...

You're a big fella'. Go intimidate him. =p

bazkitcase5 09-07-2009 06:32 PM

I like the pepper spray idea

then the next day you could be like, "jeez man, what happened to your eyes"

Grancey 09-07-2009 09:06 PM

Now see, the first thing I would have thought is that there was an animal trying to get it. A pair of eyes could have been a bear or a cougar, not that there have been any bear or cougar sightings in my neighborhood. The last thing I would have done is go open the door. With my bad luck it would have been a bear. Kudos to being brave enough to check it out. Maybe the neighbor upstairs saw the bear looking in your door and ran and hid in his place. The possibilities.......

LoganSnake 09-07-2009 09:23 PM

Where do you live that you'd suspect a bear or a cougar before a human?

Living in Chicago, that train of thought seems a bit derailed to me. Make me understand because unless by cougar you meant a woman in her 40s...I don't.

Strange Famous 09-07-2009 10:54 PM

I dont think there are any wild bears or cougars in Ipswich!

I thought that about around here, but I was wrong. Looks like you have farms around the city rather than woods and forest everywhere like us, so I guess you're safe.

No, but there's this:

Or it could have been a vicious, rabid dog. Oh wait - same thing.

wooÐs 09-09-2009 10:49 AM

Ugh, seeing her makes me so sad. Look how pretty she used to be before stardom set in:

oops, my mistake.

SF, take a strip of paper and tape a set of eyes looking back at him.

I always keep a strip of masking tape over my peephole thingy on my front door, as it is possible to look in from the opposite side of the door. I don't do unexpected visitors. So when I do get company, I just wait a minute then quickly look to see who it is. Then tape it back, acting like I'm not home.

Yay for parking in the garage.

warrrreagl 09-09-2009 10:57 AM

SF, did it look more like this?

(I totally stole those eyes from somebody at TFP a long time ago, but I can't remember who)

wooÐs 09-09-2009 11:18 AM

and now I stole them from you.

Yay cool gifs!

lol

Sucks that it's only 1 eye tho. But I didn't realize it until I opened the file.

LoganSnake 09-09-2009 02:38 PM

Why not just flip the other one?

That's like a playful version of the chick from The Ring/The Grudge/Shutter/etc.

wooÐs 09-09-2009 07:19 PM

lol

Right eye isn't aligned but I didn't try.

Still loving this animation! *off to bump animated gif thread...*

Surely we have one right? Can't find it...

LoganSnake 09-09-2009 07:53 PM

We don't....

wooÐs 09-09-2009 09:13 PM

must..... create..... one....

robot_parade 09-12-2009 08:44 PM

Yeah, that's *not* cool. There is no good reason for that, and plenty of very bad ones. You should make sure that someone 'in real life' knows that this happened, and either talk to him in the way Tully suggested, or leave a note on his door to the same effect.

ohhhhhhhhhh,right:rolleyes:

SSJTWIZTA 09-12-2009 10:57 PM

rig a trap, dude.

im sure with some string attached to the mail slot, a can of pepper spray and some ingenuity, you could rig something rather delightful up.

cheese 09-13-2009 12:09 AM

That is uber creepy. Mabey you could go to a local butchers and get a set of pig and/or cow eyeballs and stuff them threw his box. with a note that says. " last creeper who looked in my mail slot!"

---------- Post added at 03:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:08 AM ----------

BWT awesome eyeballs.

Schwan 09-14-2009 06:02 AM

Well, too bad you didn't go up to his place and ask WTF what was all about. If he does that again, don't hesitate. Peeping through someone's door is a big no-no. Sure, he could be a concerned neighbour for all I know, but then you can always knock instead of pushing your face through the mail thingy.

My sister lives in North Vancouver. They have a by law there which fines people for not taking the fruit off of their backyard trees (crab apples, peaches what have you) because it attracts bears. Her garbage cans have been hauled off to the park so many times by black bears, that they built a special shed to hold them.

There was a cougar mauling not too long ago, of a woman jogger. My sister lives approx 10 km from downtown.

Poor black bears, all cramped in a little shed.

Leto 09-14-2009 01:11 PM

haha. Oh no! grammar police.... but wait, doesn't the pronoun apply to garbage cans?

Oh, I get it now, the bears built the shed.

P.S. It was purely meant as a joke, not as the grammar police. It was merely the vision I had in my head of putting bears in a shed to keep them out of the garbage.

/end of threadjack

SF, did you ever confront the guy about it?
