Ok, now the big question: Should this replace the current TFP IRC chat?

Pros: WEBCAMS

Cons: Must connect through website, cannot use IRC program.

I gotta say, I really liked it, and I had a lot of fun.

It's a tough call to replace IRC with it, though. I like a lot of the other functionalities of IRC. But if this will get people into chat, then fine.

You know, it's not perfect. It can probably handle a lot of text participants, but I noticed that the video got seriously laggy when we had more than half a dozen or so cams streaming.

Also the text entry field isn't for shit. If you type as fast as I do, it registers the end-of-line return BEFORE the last few characters you typed. I kept typing messages like th

is.
Dammit.

That said, it is a lot of fun, even if the density of man-nipples was a bit too high last night...

Mind you, the performance is based on your own computer's and internet connection's ability to handle everything that it throws at you. My own performance was pretty zippy. If I were to try to broadcast through wireless, though, it would lag out epic style like noodle did.

fwiw, I was on my netbook last night via wireless and it was zippy enough.

It was beyond epic. I don't know if there is a word that is above epic, but it would describe it. Snowy and pony both rocked the web cam.

I say have both channels, the old IRC channel and this one. I was in both last night and I liked it that way. I'm going to contiune to use the new channel because of the webcam access, but I will still idle in old chat.

I'm down for anything, as long as we keep the TFP channel on tinychat.com.

Overall, I like it, but I wish there was a way to rearrange the video/text layout. I have a widescreen monitor, and I couldn't view the bottom of the chat box without cutting off the top line of cameras, even though there was plenty of empty space on either side.

I vote for whatever uses webcams, its much more interesting

It seemed to work ok for me for the few minutes I was on. And you can imagine the lag for me is a little greater than most (because of distance, not my hard wired cable connection).

I just felt sad in chat because everyone was ignoring me. Then I found out that I was too far behind. I like the webcams, but I'll stick with the old chat. Because even when I stopped viewing the cams, I was still way behind.

Noodle: I think that was probably a one time deal. Most bizarre.

Update: We're having major issues with /b/ raids. Any time a camera is turned on we get mobbed by trolls.

Great talking with you last night. Funny, I've always "read" you with a British accent. I don't know why I thought that.

when the room was set up, it asked if you need to log in through twitter to get into the room.. so the controls werent done right.

as a temporary measure you could join your own room and call it /tfp7 for the time being. need to wait for an admin to change the link.

The notice is not showing up in some styles. We don't know how to fix it right now. To get the link, just temporarily switch to TFP Green.
