Are you a morning person?
I know I’m not. Although I’m not like my best friend who wakes up with a mood that is not different from Godzilla on a rampage, I do find it hard to spring out of bed and get my gears working for the day (which explains why I keep a bottle of coffee + Equal + creamer in my office drawer).
I find I function much better from 12 am - 4 am (GMT +8), and am generally capable of producing more intellectual caveats at said timings instead of in the day (which has a direct correlation to optimum functionality, and therefore the argument that I am better at night!) Theories to this odd biological function do include notions of vampirism, but fret not, I do not drink blood. Well, not yet anyway… So yes, any other owls here? Nocturnal people who function so much better in the wee, ungodly hours (gawd, who the heck came up with that term? God follows our working hours now eh?) of the morning (or dead of night, take your pick)? |
welcome to the world of the insomniacs
in time, you will see us come out of the woodwork...but most of us remain unseen, only to the trained eye will you notice, for we work at times where the rest of the masses are at rest. i myself am a morning person. if i have a deadline, id rather get 2-3hrs sleep, get up at 3 in the morning and then work my butt off to get my deadlines done. mind you they always are on time. but i couldnt work that hard in the afternoons or evenings. id rather procrastinate on TFP |

Perhaps you may be right- I might just be this insufferable insomniac, because I do have a habit of sleeping at 3-4 am and then getting up in the morning. It's sort of like a night power nap of sorts. That's my strategy when I sleep late the previous day and have to get up for work, regardless of whether I want to or not. Which screws up my whole biological balance, but sigh. Duty calls :< I tend to be sleepy in the afternoons though. It's like, my designated sleep time or something ._x |
I'm in between. So long as I get to sleep early enough, I don't really have a problem getting up at first light. Just don't expect me to *work.* I'm not really ready to work until the afternoon. So I guess that makes me a mid-day person?
|
Only when it comes to sex. Otherwise, night owl here.
|
I used to be a night owl. I would stay up all night and sleep all day. Two things have changed this: Work and Kids.
Now I am up everyday at 6am and at work by 7:30. Coffee is a must (drinking cup one right now). I am regularly in bed by 11pm on weeknights. Weekends used to be a time for sleeping in. Now, even if I have been up until 2am or 3am I am up by 8am at the latest (though an afternoon nap is essential). |
I like to go to sleep at about 11pm-12am and wake up around 9-9:30. Work prevents that.
|
College is flexible and caters my zombie-like busy hours. I stay up until 0300 or 0400... sleep until noon... take naps when I can... and hit classes at random times. I feel I'm more productive and awake late at these twilight hours. I like running / cleaning / lifting / sex / conversing late at night.
I think the US should have mandatory nap times. |
I am so far from being a morning person, that the light from being a morning person would take a thousand years to hit my planet...........(gulps more coffee) is that clear? (guzzles 3rd monster)
|
I am very much a morning person. I routinely get to work before 6:30 am, and I'm usually up at 5.
|
don't even need a clock to get up at 0530 every freakin' day...

i get up in the morning, but i am not a morning person.
i think i am most productive mid-late morning, but i'd rather sleep through it. nothing happens without coffee. nothing at all. |

The USAF screwed up my sleep schedule for years. For most of my 8 years in the AF I was on Swing Shift, 330pm to midnight. So I got used to waking up around 11am. Once I got used to it I loved it. On weekends or extended time off I still revert back to that schedule.
|
Definitely not a morning person. My cat or my alarm clock wakes me up however. I do better in late morning/early afternoon. Then when it's female hormone time, I'm just tired a lot at random times.
|
I love mornings, when I can get up for them. Lately I seem to have trouble getting a good rest so waking has been difficult, but that early morning when the sky first starts to lighten and the world is still, nobody about yet; the perfect time of day. Particularly in late fall when the air is crisp and clear, a refreshing cold. Finer weather can not be found.

i usually dont wake until 5 PM or so.
i cant do mornings, i hate everything about them. the dew on the ground, the fucking happy little birds, and the fucking sun. (ahh sun, you're my worst enemy.) |
I rarely ever see the morning anymore. I sleep until noon most days.
|
I am nocturnal by nature and my body goes on a longer than 24 hour cycle if I'm forced to wake up in the morning for whatever dreadful reason (and they are all dreadful). Left to my own devices (school vacation or unemployment) I stay up for about 18 hours and sleep for 10. At some point I reach a rough equilibrium where I go to bed shortly after sunrise and wake up shortly after sunset. Then school starts again or I get a job and a hell of a time every morning. It takes at least an hour or a stimulant to get me out of bed.
|
I want to kill many so called, non-morning persons in the planet!! I mean, when I wake up in the new day and for some unknown reason I'm deliriously happy ... (must be my king size bed) But why the F would you ruin my day simply because I said goodmorning a bit too vibrantly? Come on ... if your in a bad mood, just grunt and move on.
I have a habit of turning your entire day into shit if you fuck me up in the morning. Unless of course if your my superior then I'll just silently fume!! |
I never have been, but my job has now changed my shifts to early mornings! This will be fun ;)
|
...i'm little miss sunshine in the morning...it's disgusting. Doesn't matter the circumstances...you could wake me from a deep sleep...tell me we're out of coffee, burn my toast, hand me a rain-drenched newspaper...i'm just plain happy.
...BUT long about 3 in the afternoon when my blood-sugar drops it all catches up with me....and then you better just BACK-OFF! ...unless you have chocolate |
I hate mornings, with the exception that the morning is designated to be around 2am -4 am etc. I actually find that I work better in the wee hours as opposed to normal business hours. I figure I'm not sleeping any way I might as well do something.
I have noticed though that since I've cut out caffeine and coffee over a year ago that things are much easier than they used to be. and Xerxys.. people don't say good morning to me. They say 'morning' because they know that if they put the good in front of morning, I always say there's no such thing. |

I am a morning person, so long as you give me a giant cup of coffee to get through it. Typically, my internal clock is tied to when it gets light outside; if it's light out, I usually have no problem getting up and out of bed. If it's not, forget it. |
I seem to go into sleeping shifts. Maybe its a pattern like the moon phases.
|
I am most functional during morning hours. It does take some time for me to wake up in the morning, and I don't enjoy being pressed for conversation for my first two hours of the day. But I get far more accomplished in my day if I wake up early. I prefer waking up at 5am and going to bed at 9pm: fewer people to interact with, more work accomplished during those first couple of hours of anti-social-ness.
I am a morning person. |
I'm up at 4:45 every morning and at work by 5; however, I do not consider myself a morning person. Sometimes I drink coffee, sometimes I don't depending on my mood. Mostly I listen to my ipod and work.
|
I am a night person, I feel more alive at night. I still don't have too much trouble getting up early and functioning if I need to. I just prefer staying up late and sleeping in.
|
I am most productive in the morning. I immediately get up and get active, so that helps.
However, I still like sleeping in and being lazy on my days off, and I get sleepy in my car on the way to work.. however, by then I've already been up for at least 2 hours so it's nearly naptime. |
I used to suck at mornings but since I've been working shifts for a long time my definition of "morning" is a bit different than AM. I still suck at waking up, and I'm not truly awake until I've had atleast a cup of coffee.
|
Morning person here. Much more productive prior to lunch than after lunch.
|
I'm more of an afternoon person than a morning person, but I want to splash a huge glass of water in the face of anyone that openly proclaims they aren't a morning person when they have a bad attitude.
Reminds me of when we were on our honeymoon. We were at a bed & breakfast and breakfast was at 8:30 AM. So we were all at the table, about 8 strangers, eating breakfast and this one lady was just a fucking douche to the innkeeper. I mean time after time, the entire meal. Then at the end of the meal she publicly apologized for being mean and proclaimed "I'm just not a morning person." I never wanted to splash someone with water more than at that moment! |
I'm a night person by nature, a morning person by necessity. I love staying up late, doing things around the house in the wee smalls, when the apartment is quiet and the traffic is light....but that doesn't work most of the time, as I have to be at work at 8AM. Given my druthers, I'd work like noon to eight or so....unfortunately, the courts don't run by my schedule. :-(

I most certainly am NOT a morning person. This makes my 9:30 am class twice a week a little difficult, since I usually don't go to be until around three or four.
My parents are morning people, and I live with them at the moment. They tend to wake me up around eight, I wake them up when I come home at three. Discontent for all parties involved. |
