Why didn't I think of that?
I have been noticing a lot of neat concepts lately. I'm interested in what else is out there that is interesting.
A few things I have noticed: A milk and cookie truck: Basically, it is a revamped ice cream truck that drives around and serves warm cookies and milk and also makes deliveries. Meatloaf Bakery: At first i was baffled as to who would want to get bake goods from a place by that name. Then I found out that it is a restaurant that makes meatloaf shaped like cupcakes and 'frosts' them with mashed potatoes. There are several varieties. Cupcake Happy Hour: A cupcake shop that gives free alcoholic cupcakes from 5-7 on Fridays. They have mimosa, pina colada, margarita, and other flavored cupcakes with liquor in the frosting. Pie Town, NM: When we went on our road trip a couple of years ago, we were driving through New Mexico. On the map was this town called Pie Town. I love desserts so I had to visit this place. The town consisted of 3 pie shops. All of them were closed when we got there. This was in the middle of nowhere so I guess they can keep what ever hours they choose. I was quite disappointed though. One of these days, I'll make my way back and camp out until I get to try pie from all 3 places. Now share, your interesting finds. |

Fish tacos don't compare to shrimp tacos.. or shrimp burritos.. or lobster burritos. Mmmmmm. Here, in San Diego, we make THE best Mexican food in all of the US.
Speaking of which: Carne Asada Fries - I grew up with these things. In Tijuana they sometimes call these "California/San Diego fries" because it originated here, I guess. BUT.. It's strips of beef steak, guacamole, cheese, sour cream, beans, and rice, maybe chopped lettuce?.. but all topped over a bed of fresh, hot fries. mmmmmmmmm I can NEVER find this stuff anywhere else in the US. Not even as close as LA or Orange County. So, it must be a recent idea or something. **shrug** A Chinese AND Mexican food place - This one restaurant I pass by almost everyday serves both Chinese and Mexican food. And it's all veryyyy good. They used to serve pretty good Japanese and Indian food, too.. but they took those items off the menu a while ago. But, it's pretty much a food place you can go to when you dunno whether you want orange chicken or a taco. |
