Hey guys!

I just made this thread so we could have somewhere to have a more open discussion of the project as it comes to fruition. So feel free to post, edit, argue (constructively!) and assess each others work as it is posted. This kind of communication tool is a little weird to use at first, but this site has several helpful tutorials found under the FAQ header in the upper tab list. Ultimately, this will allow us to work psuedo-together at any point in time!

And so...on with the show!


To Admin/Other Users: Hey guys, sorry if this seems like an intrusion, but I was at a loss to find a general forum to use as a post-meeting form of communication. I hope that this won't be an issue, but if it is, please email me.
Conversely, if you have any thoughts/ideas while browsing, feel free to send them to me! I'd love to hear any and all suggestions that you guys have.

1. You joined our forum with the intent to set up a private group thread with a bunch of people who (I'm assuming) are also not members.

Perhaps someone could suggest an alternative web-based solution for "a post-meeting form of communication".

if you are seriously at UCSC, surely there is some form of intranet forum already available to you to use for group work. I find it hard to believe that someone with all the resources of a big university available, thinks that the only way to have a discussion group common area is by starting a private discussion group on our little forum.

Hey guys. I have come to realize, in perfect hindsight, that my earlier post could be construed to be rude.

After all, TFP is a home to many of you, and my blatant use of this interactive tool as an interactive tool could be seen as disrespectful to those who revere the sites perfect ecosystem of polite disgruntledness. I have to say that I have been a member of this site for quite a while (coming on 2 years, not as idick) and have always loved its unique charm.

However, I must say that I made the mistake of asking you not to post in the vain hope that my noob groupmates wouldn't get confused and start chatting up a random member. My bad. What I was hoping to be a collaborative environment (Post! And include all the Miss Piggy fantasies you want- the project is already pretty fucked up...), is right now a bunch of jokers trying to one-up each other with the same "kermit humping dog" .gif that's been going around since I was in middle school. Seriously. TFP. The jungle-gym of the supposedly adult world.

I should've just named the thread "People Make Mistakes" and left it at that. At this point, please accept my apologies if my attempt at doing my job has offended you, and if a mod would please delete this thread asap, I would appreciate it.

There's this teeny-tiny little interactive tool called myspace that allows can be set up to be only accessed by your "groupmates".

And there are many, many other places to set up private "interactive areas". Going into a public forum and saying "don't post here", is about as realistic as going into Times Square and telling everybody to shut up because you want to have a private conversation.

Furthermore, doing so with a new account (which may or may not be against site policy, I'm not sure anymore) and no explanation whatsoever of who you are or why you would like to do such a thing is just plain disrespectful. For the record, I've been a member for over three years, if we want to get into the membership-length dick waving competition. I don't know. Maybe they're onto something here. Call it "Tilted Works in Progress" or something. It's not like there haven't been attempts at collabrative projects here before. I can recall at least one in the Music thread.

A thread where members can openly work together on a project wouldn't be such a bad thing would it? If the OP has taken a different tack (outlining the scope and goals of the project and inviting all members to offer their input over the course of the process) this thread could have been very fruitful. Perhaps it still can be.

I'm curious about what they're really attempting to achieve and how they develop it.

The problem with this thread is that the OP wanted only members of the project group (and it seems to be a college class project) to post in the thread - i.e. this is an exclusive project and general members of TFP are "not allowed" to participate.

If it was an open project, not for a grade, and invited members to join, I'm sure the reaction would have been different.

It's a shame you all have decided not to help out and post your characters :(.
