I don't see anything wrong with this type of belief. It would only give me pause if a person refuses to accept the consequences of their own (in)actions and holds that free will is not important when forming decisions, particularly those of a financial nature.

Accepting what comes has its place, but enacting changes to improve your situation is also vital for personal growth.

Since I do not recognize any divine entity I cannot believe in divine intervention. I believe unlikely things are more likely to happen by chance rather than under some invisible hand of God. It has always rather irked me when I hear people say the Phrase, "God will not give you more than you can handle." Another irritating phrase would be, "Everything happens for a reason." I heard someone say both phrases to a friend of mine who lost their young son who was ran over by a drunk snowmobile driver while he was sledding with his family at the park. I personally find it rather distasteful to suggest that some "higher being" made a decision to take an innocent life. Divine intervention whether saving a life or taking it, there is no understandable logic in it for myself.

But I find it incredibly difficult to believe there's some supreme being. No divine being, no divine intervention. But in all honesty I know I don't know.

I don't consider myself a very religious person. I guess I'm somewhat spiritual sometimes, but mostly I am a realist. That said, I can't say for sure whether or not I believe in divine intervention, but it won't stop me from praying and hoping. I think it's the hope that gets me through those situations. I know when my sister had a stroke, I prayed so hard and for so long hoping she would be okay and still do. But all it is is hope. Whether or not divine intervention occurs, doesn't really matter. In the end, it's the hope and the thoughts that matter.
