The badges that people received for being super cool and winning votes don't show what they mean anymore on mouse over. I'm using FF3 on a MacBook running Leopard and confirmed in both fromBasics Dark (my default) and vBulletin 3.

Hello! We've upgraded to the new version of vBulletin. We expect there to be some bugs. Tell us about them HERE.

KNOWN BUGS:
1. Journals - Cant do much except read them.
4. Staff/Donor Tags not showing

REMINDER:
The vBulletin 3 style is the most basic style with the most functionality. If you're having an issue, switch to that style and see if it is fixed.

yes, at this point in time I can't do an alt tag for the image. I can only get the image up there.

I'm still trying to figure out how my login works on my home PC but not my laptop.

Have you tried clearing your web browser cache? Don't know if this works, but it's worth a try.

I have. I've deleted temp files, all tfp cookies, but i'm trying to hold off on deleting history, though I don't think that would help any.

It's just my work laptop anyway. no tfp at work i guess.

Poppinjay 07-23-2008 03:35 PM

You know, I'm probably a big baby about this. Having read comments about the problems with journals, I really like them. I posted some crap to the blog and it just doesn't feel right. I felt invested in the journal. I frankly could not care less if anybody read them, but as an English major, it's the closest thing I've had to continued viability of what I think.

Having said that, it's your forum. Drop them if it's too much annoyance, and I'll get used to it. But there are certain journals I read as often as possible. It seems so much easier to get to them when it's been a while.

It took me so freakin' long to realize how to post a comment only to realize the system booted me out after a few minutes. I don't like the blogs. I love the journals. I'm just sayin'.

Cynthetiq 07-23-2008 06:41 PM

I don't disagree. I like the journals too. Alas, there may be no choice in the matter as far as the format is concerned. I'm hoping to test migrating the information over in the coming days, but there's no guarantee that they'll come over 100% intact.

just a thought...do you log out from tfp on the home pc before going to work and trying to log in to tfp there...?

depending on how the login/out system is managed by the vbulletin software, it's possible this may be causing your problem.

Frosstbyte 07-23-2008 09:37 PM

Nevermind!

I keep the page Who's Online open in a tab while I'm on TFP. It auto-refreshes, so you don't get logged out. I can't remember who gave me that tip, but it's a lifesaver.

ktspktsp 07-24-2008 02:14 PM

Hi,

I'm trying to post a comment on my own blog post (http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/blogs/k...8-walking.html) but when I look at it I can see neither the "Post a comment" link nor the "Post a comment" box (where one can type in a comment). I see those on other people's blog posts. I'm using the Insignia skin but the problem is still there when I switch to vbulletin3.

Cynthetiq 07-24-2008 02:18 PM

you were able to post a comment before right? I've seen one in abaya's blog. you're saying just your own blog right? cleared cache already?

ktspktsp 07-24-2008 02:32 PM

Yes, I was able to post comments earlier, and I still see the comment box on other people's blogs so I assume I can post comments on their blogs. Just not on mine.

I cleared that cache, logged out and in - no change.

Cynthetiq 07-24-2008 02:39 PM

did you disable commenting on your blog?

lemme look for myself
-----Added 24/7/2008 at 06 : 40 : 09-----
yes, it's disabled on your end, i can't post comments to you either
-----Added 24/7/2008 at 06 : 41 : 09-----
http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/blog_us...do=editoptions

first check box... allow comments.

ktspktsp 07-24-2008 03:22 PM

The comments are not disabled. Oh and I can see your comment (and Halx's) but I still can't comment on my own blog.

ubertuber 07-24-2008 03:24 PM

Regarding journal migration:

If we do this without the ability to make individual blog entries private, will we suddenly find a bunch of once-private journal entries open to the public (and Google)?

Cynthetiq 07-24-2008 03:26 PM

re: journals suggestions from the community at large (other admins) say start over.

ubertuber 07-24-2008 03:32 PM

Meaning admins at other sites say that the move isn't feasible and we should start over?

I just downloaded mine to a text file. The comments are missing, which I knew would happen.

LoganSnake 07-24-2008 04:17 PM

All embedded videos just went and disappeared. All you see are URLs in plain text.

need a little more info than that. I'm looking at alot of videos that are just fine.

JustJess 07-24-2008 04:24 PM

Shit, the comments didn't come with?

Everything's back up now. Must have been a glitch in the Matrix.

Grasshopper Green 07-26-2008 11:28 AM

I've been having a lot of rexed images and it never happened previously.

Cynthetiq 07-26-2008 11:29 AM

please state what style you are using and which images are rexed.

if you can give me the path of the image that will be helpful also

Grasshopper Green 07-26-2008 12:19 PM

I'm using Desert Sand. I'm also not very computer literate and don't understand what a path of the image is.

I can give you one example though...I was posting in my blog and these smileys weren't rexed - the rest were: :)     :p ;) :D :o :(

Cynthetiq 07-26-2008 12:30 PM

any others?

Grasshopper Green 07-26-2008 03:40 PM

I guess I should have posted the ones that WEREN'T rexed, huh?

Cynthetiq 07-26-2008 03:42 PM

no worries.

I figured out what needs to be done. I just can't do it. Have to wait for the big guy to either do it himself or adjust the issue I'm having.

Grasshopper Green 07-26-2008 03:45 PM

Should I continue posting rexed items, or will whatever needs to be done fix the entire issue?

Cynthetiq 07-26-2008 03:46 PM

if they are different then the smilies it would be appreciated.

Halx 07-26-2008 08:14 PM

Let me know if I've fixed the issue, Medusa.

Willravel 07-26-2008 09:31 PM

When I post URL links to sites, the new system assumes I want to show the link as the title of the link.... and it messes up.

Im using Blacksmart and anytime I'm using a text field I find it very hard to see the blinking cursor. Its looks as if its been made a gray thats very similar to the background gray. Not sure if this is able to be changed, its just very annoying sometimes :(.

Uncheck that box below the advanced reply window when you want just a naked link. Otherwise, label your link to what you want it to be. The reason for this is for SEO so that people can find what you are trying to share with them either from the outside of TFP or from within.

The smiley issue has been fixed, Hal.

Aladdin Sane 07-30-2008 06:49 AM

I mentioned this a few days ago and it's still a problem.
If you guys haven't had time to work on it I understand and I'll gladly wait until you can get to it. I'm sure you've got bigger fish to fry...

When I open TFP the style is always vBulletin 3. I change it to another style ( usually Bluestar). When I close TFP and come back it is always on vBulletin 3 again. Is there any way to make it open on my chosen style?
My browser is FF 3.0.1 .

I cleared my cache but it didn't help.
Thanks!

Cynthetiq 07-30-2008 06:53 AM

strange
your profile shows that you have selected bluestar as your preference.

you need to clear your cookies I believe.

I went into your user profile and scrolled down to "Browsing Options". The last item there is a pulldown for "Sytle". I selected Bluestar (since that's what you mentioned) and saved. You should be viewing this in Bluestar now, and you can easily change it the same way.

Let me know if you have questions or need anything else.

Cyn, you and I are too quick on the draw.... :)

I had this issue until I deleted my Favorite and re-added it. I'd removed the cache, cookies, everything. But for some reason firefox was giving me the old style when I clicked the link. Just deleted the bookmark, found it in Google, and re-bookmarked it. The link was exactly the same.
