TFP Calendar for Charity

hey the thought of making a TFP poster calender for 2009 has been floating around in the portrait thread. i thought it'd be a good idea.

im all for it. maybe we can have a vote some of the types of things we want to see in the calender? people, landscapes, animals etc. all of an artistic nature.

im not sure if picking the hottest tfp member will help as i dont think we need to alienate anyone. so its not a beauty contest, but rather an artistic expression of TFP members.

just wanted to see what your thoughts were. we could sell them to each other, and make some benjamins for TFP. we could use proceed to cover costs for the calender and maybe a months or years running cost or something along those lines with the rest going to a charity of our choice.

As in every member either makes an artistic piece or snaps an artistic picture and we assemble them into a calender? Then once it is complete we take it somewhere to be made and we sell them to the members?

If so this sounds like it could be a cool idea. If anyone wants some high res landscape pictures of the Rockie mountains I have plenty from my hiking days.

Kinko's creates calendars using whatever 12 pages you give 'em.

We could create 12 pages of collages made up of TFP'ers photos/works of art.

Or we could just have 12 pages of porn. I'm just saying.

well the idea is open really, but yes basically what blahblah said. i know theres some talented people here that can use photoshop really well here.

i guess its all about the brainstorming and the participants.

the way im seeing it..

people submit their fav pics.. we can come to an agreement on what we want beforehand. theres a vote, and we give it to respective tfp members to make the m,onths artwork. maybe one person can do the lot..just wanted to get ur ideas.

a booby one sounds good, but the problem with that is i do want to put it on my desk at work or at home. i dont think it'd be allowed to show boobies on my desk here in dubai.

maybe a collage of faces of everyone who wants to contribute? that way no one feels left out. the last thing i want to do is alienate anyone as tfp isnt about one person or twelve people its about us as a community.

whatever expenses are incurred by the person who finally prints them out will be reimbursed by whoever controls the fund (halx or a super mod) after we have sold the calenders. receipts etc to be forwarded.

postage would probably cost the least if printed in the USA since most members are in the USA. buyers to pay for their own postage.

after they've all been sent out and account finalised we can split the money between the charities we chose and tfp.

a nice way to help tfp as well as help others less fortunate. and a nice way to remember the members of tfp here.

I'm thinking a huge collage would get a bit messy. Sorry, have my art head on.

What might work is smaller collages of 3 or 4 members per month and maybe an insert of a couple more here and there - that would still make a lot of people and I'm sure not everyone will want to appear. Perhaps if the people who'd like to be in it could speak up? Perhaps a poll of some sort would give a better idea.

In terms of collages I'm thinking there could be a theme per month (almost like a story to each month) and then the collage (I'm thinking a photoshop affair) could be made based around that, the members could send in shots to "fit in" to the theme and then some members could do the photoshopping. That way lots of members can actually participate, in the making or just in appearing.

I have to say I think that zero nudity will be a shame... Heh.

Hey, maybe we could do like what Rob does at Cockeyed.com, where he has a little form you fill out, and he puts your birthday in the calendar. We could do that. Of course, not EVERY member, but those who request to be in it.

I like tippler's latest idea. The other thing I'd throw out is those graphic packages that use a collage of very small images to make a bigger image...say some variant on the tfp logo or perhaps a "Winter Holiday" them - if anyone has that type of rendering capability. You could take specific images for the majority of months - maybe a series of collages with 4-8 images, and then use a shitton of images harvested from the board to make the collage for a final type month, like say December...there's that "Winter Theme" aspect. No one gets left out, and the calendar is made. That'd be my take anyways....

It doesn't have to be 12 months. You can use lulu.com to create a calender with as many months as you wish, and its free to create them, with a minimum price that can be added to to create a profit. They're pretty high quality from what I understand.

As for what to put, I'd say a vote. Perhaps create one thread strictly for submissions and another for members to place votes for however many will appear in the order they like them. If it doesn't come out perfectly, do a poll to decide the final product. There's probably a simpler way of doing things, but that's my solution.

I also like the idea of both an X-rated calendar and one strictly for member art. I'm sure both would sell well, and heck, you could do a ladies and mens calendar for the X-rated one.

im liking tipplers idea as well as pigs.

the monthly theme idea is good.. so say dec would be a xmas theme. or maybe a month with everyones current avatar or something of that nature.

do we have any artists on board interested? or some photoshop wizards?

can we see a show of hands on who wants to appear? or who would like to help out, judge etc?

maybe some of the mods may have an idea on how to administer something like this. has it been done before? too many questions. we only have 5 months before years end so i think if we get working on brianstorming now it would come to fruition by years end. its sounds like a lot of time but really its not!

Here's an idea to toss out on its ear. If they were landscape 8x10 with photo inserts, we could print the photos on our own printers. Buyers could be provided a link to the photos that are in catagories like ocean/beach, mountain/country, lake/stream, cities day/night, deserts, animal/Hal. We could choose our own photos that way, or one member in charge of printing individual photos if you don't want to store them.

Is this to be available to general public, TFP posters, or TFP members only?
