How do you Think?
When I think it's like I'm speaking to someone else in my head. For instance I have to explain things that I already know. Well I don't *have* to, but it's my natural inclination. So it's just like as if I was having a conversation with a real person that doesn't know my thoughts and beliefs. For example I say, "Ya know what I mean?"
My sister thinks the same way. This seems a little silly and redundant to me. Does everyone else do this? Anyone do anything different when they think? |
:devious: I'm just the opposite. My words come out of my mouth the way I think.
I never explain stuff I know to myself because I'd get bored with me really quickly. I'd guess that we all function differently but wouldn't even attempt to speculate as to how and why. :paranoid: |
being male it could be assumed that one of my uniquely-male organs does the thinking for me :)
i think like both of you think. |
I talk to myself a lot in my head. My head is my best friend.
Being as schizophrenia runs in the family it's not very surprising. |
I talk to myself outloud a lot. Probably drives the girls across the hall at work nuts...or they think I am...
I think most of us have inner conversations. A habit I have that's hard to break is that I will have one of those inner conversations, then when I'm speaking to someone, I start in the middle, swearing I said more....I think my boss does that too-I never know what the hell she's talking about. |

Military brainwashing, mostly.
... 1: Pack like you won't come back. 2: Be ready to defend yourself at all times. 3: Maintain a low profile in life. 4: Focus on self improvement--mental and physical--over material possessions. 5: Task, conditions, standards with purpose, direction, motivation. What am I doing? What do I have to work with? What am I trying to achieve? Why am I doing this? Where do I need to go with this? What are the rewards? ... Critical Incidents process as: Establish Security. Ensure Accountability. Maintain Communication. ... As found on Al Gore's Intarweb and seen posted on the wall in a USMC head: "1. Be courteous to everyone, friendly to no one. 2. Decide to be aggressive enough, quickly enough. 3. Have a plan. 4. Have a back-up plan, because the first one probably won't work. 5. Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everyone you meet. 6. Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun whose caliber does not start with a "4." 7. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap. Life is expensive. 8. Move away from your attacker. Distance is your friend. (Lateral & diagonal preferred.) 9. Use cover or concealment as much as possible. 10. Flank your adversary when possible. Protect yours. 11. Always cheat; always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose. 12. In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived. 13. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating your intention to shoot." |
I have a parliamentary government in there with representatives from each of my interests. They meet and vote often.

I think in images and colors. Time follows a bit of a circular pattern, reflect on moments of the past as they are relevant to the present, recall moments of clarity or confusion that might bring light to the present. If I can take words on a page and transform them into a systematic image, not a flow chart but images of chains of events, then they make better sense. If I draw them out on paper, they become tangible and I am likely to recall them.
Sometimes I do speak with myself, when needing to convince myself not to be sad or to look on the bright side of a situation. This was more of a learned habit. I am more inclined to say and think in fluidity, then revisit when necessary, to edit and clarify. As I type, I am not inclined to think of actual words, but rather the emotions behind them. The words appear on the screen as an expression of my inner thoughts, as small pictures that are closer to universally understood. |

Basically, yes. Only my Lex Luthor is black. Affirmative action.

I've had a long running conversation with myself that never seems to solve anything but does manage to create serious problems in general.

i dont really think, just react. it has never failed me before.
for some reason, in my current drunken state, im thinking that cromps "Military brainwashing" post makes alot of sense. maybe i should adopt that mentality. |
