What Can a Groom Register For?
 

I am getting married in one month! I need to register for a few things, but I need a few good items to register for, it seems like its geared for 99% girl stuff. Please give me some ideas of good things to register for because we only need but so many towels.

Where are you registering at? Lots of couples register at sears or home depot which of course carries loads of things that guys love

We are registered at Macy's. The mens department at Macy's in my opinion is a little lame. Its great for girly stuff, but home depot is a good idea. Thanks.

I would agree with some kind of handyman set, if you're planning on being a handyman now. Is there anything house-wise that you'd change? For instance...

My husband's wish list included 2 things and his parents gave him both: an iron skillet (mine were all non-stick), and a non-electric can opener. I think it's supposed to be more manly than using an electric/battery powered one?? :rolleyes: Oh well, he does use them.

Maybe a 907D2. I wish I could get my hands on an old 905R. Maybe I could stomach a Vokey. I am particular to my sticks and usually order them based on my specs. But I do need a replacement SW, my grooves are done.

ALL of our kitchen supplies were selected by me. I'm the one who cooks, and I basically got to tell her that I'd listen to her input and then chose what I wanted anyway. It didn't go over so well at the time, but she's since come around to the idea that the cherry pitter, fish spatula for the grill, wok and good knives are all much better than the flashy things she wanted.

Unless she plays golf, you're not going to have much luck there. Most women won't buy golf supplies, and let's face it, women buy the wedding gifts. My advice is to figure out what stuff the two of you benefit from that you end up doing and find the right retailer with a registry. If that doesn't work, you can always pretend that the scanner gun is a laser tag gun and have fun in housewares at Macy's.

We registered at REI and Target. We got tons of awesome outdoors/camping stuff from REI... dunno if that's your thing, but I'm the woman in the couple and I wasn't a fan of "girly" (or expensive) stuff from anywhere. I recommend practical and inexpensive gifts that people can feel good giving. :)

Glad it's appreciated. Unfortunately the Macy's website is designed to attract women shoppers. You have to kinda dig, or know where to look, to find stuff that appeals to men.

In my hometown, our Macy's used to be set up with two entirely diffferent multi-floor departments on opposite sides of the mall. One was women-oriented, the other men. I think they've since changed it, but it helped me to realize that Macy's wasn't just a women's store.

Two of my good male friends visit Bloomingdale's fairly often. On the surface, it seems a lot like Macy's to me, but apparently they feel it's more high-taste-male-friendly.

I didn't know REI did that! Awesome. I'll be keeping that in mind. I know my SO would appreciate backpacking gear for the both of us more than some of the other possibilities, though I'm sure he also wouldn't mind a killer set of kitchen knives.

Definitely make sure to register for a good set of knives--they'll always serve you well with proper care.

Weddings are for women, register to keep your dignity and your balls out of her purse and you will be fine ;)

I was quite happy to get household supplies of sorts.

I was not as happy as she was over the expensive china we have never used once in the last 10 years or so.
