thinking of Micky Ds
Man is my tummy aching. One of the managers here at work brought in 5 bags full of McDon's sausage biscuits. That thing has had me gassy all morning long. WTF! :grumpy:
|
I thought it was general knowledge that Rotten Ronnies was some of the worst food on the planet, guaranteed to make you feel like shit after ingestion.
|
makes me think of George Carlin, and "cute little farts". How do you control your emission while at work?
|
Your post stands in stark contrast to your avatar.
My advice? NEVER EVER EVER EAT MCDONALDS EVER. If someone has a gun pointed at a puppy and demands you have one McNugget, you tell them to go to hell. |
I like McD's cheesesburgers every once in awhile.
*shrugs |
yeah, some of their food aint bad. I like the "Big Tasty" burger and I like the milk shakes they do.
When I was 16 I went through a stage of not eating there due to moral reasons... I gave that up some time when I was hungry and there was nothing else open that late at age 23. By age 40 I'll prolly be to the right of Ustwo politically! |
Mc'Nasty's and Toxic Hell are my 2 guilty pleasures. I know for a fact I'm going to feel like shit or be shitting after I eat it, but I do it anyway.
|
it makes me mad that there are no Taco Bell's in England.

ah, well chilli con carne is about the only meal I can cook properly... although my American mate tells me I should have it with something called "cornbread"
Probably anyone who is from Mexico would be as pissed off with someone claiming they "love Mexican food" cos they like chilli as I would think someone was ridicolous in claiming they "loved English food" cos they like Fish and Chips... but I do love chilli and beef! |

Be sure it's real, stone ground yellow cornmeal. You're in for an awesome surprise. |
Within the past 24 hours, I ate around 1 - 1.5 lbs. of sausage from a small family farm. (They were gifts.) They were tasty, and I feel fine.
Why is it that my stomach feels like I swallowed something I shouldn't have after eating only one "sausage" patty at McDonalds? |
I am all for McDonald's in moderation... we don't have Quarter Pounder's here so I don't visit McDonald's except to have breakfast. A double cheeseburger does not a Quarter Pounder make.

We go once a month or so with the kids for a treat. The cheeseburgers are just the right size for those little hands which I'm sure is on purpose. What with the happy meals, playplaces and so on, they sure know how to hook them young.
As long as my other meals on the day aren't shit, I'm not adversely effected by McD's. Ironically, if I'm having a crappy day, McDonalds is somehow just the right place to go for a comfort fix. |
I am right there with fresnelly... every once in a while doesn't kill anyone. And those habitrails for kids are awesome. I wish we had them when we were kids... all we had were the playgrounds where you could climb inside mayor mccheese. Not all that bad, BUT, they were all outside. Nothing worse than being there in winter and not being allowed to go out an play.

And.... one should be vigilant about one's diet. As Charl was saying, once in a while doesn't kill anyone. But steady consumption (more than once or twice a month perhaps) is insane, i.e. not rational.
A balanced, rational diet should go a long way to reducing heard disease. Fast food is purely a stop-gap for convenience sake and shouldn't be part of one's daily routine. *edit, I'm a bit of a coffee snob, but I've noticed that their new brew is quite palatable, more to it than Timmy's but less so than Second Cup or Starbucks. I have no compunction in picking up a traveller from McD's while on the road. |
ick.. i dare say that horrific four letter word...
moderation. I think I go to McD once every few months if I'm lucky and sometimes it goes into stretches of years. |

Will, we all know how you feel about puppies. you would so eat the biscuit. My old doctor said he eats WacArndolds to clear out his digestive system. He says it'll run right through ya. ;) |
I'm in college, they have a dollar menu. It's simple math.

Oh for fuck's sake
It makes a turd.
Jeez, you'd think it was made from worms or something the way you ladies cry about it. Don't like McD's? Don't go to jail and sure as hell don't join the military. McD's is just food with some extra sodium and some extra fat. It's still a glorious intake of calories to expend on your daily ritual called "work". Do I feel a little lightheaded after eating it? Sure, sometimes. It's definitely no sausage/egg/cheese bagel I bring from home but it doesn't make me shit kittens. |
just saw this thread again.... i want a cheeseburger now....
|
I still get a jones for Burger King, but as many have stated above, it causes me gastro-pain. I finally found a substitute: 5 Guys Burger & Fries. It costs more, sure, but it has the same emotional basic burger resonance, plus Jersey-Boardwalk-style french fries made in peanut oil. And my body survives the impact.
|
Man, I had a 5 Guys burger recently for the first time at the Reagan Int'l Airport while waiting for a connecting flight. It was really, really good!
If there can be such a thing, I consider myself a bit of a connaisseur when it comes to fast food. Whenever I go to the States, I try to track down some local comfort food. We don't quite have the same tradition here in Canada. |

Dear god will, is that guys body real?
I really try to avoid mcD's at all cost. There is burger place here in Calgary called "The Burger Inn", it wins top burger joint of the year all the time. And damn is it ever good. You can get regular beef burgers, steak burgers, ostridge burgers, lamb burgers, buffalo burgers... and I think perhaps there are a few more than I am missing. In the whole scheme of things they are really decently priced, about 5 or 6 bucks for a single premium burger, and about 4 for the regular kind. Keep in mind these are insane high gay Canadian prices (all our food here is retardedly expensive compared to the states... you have a dollar menu, we have a 1.50 menu). Burgers are all cooked fresh when you order it, so it takes about 5-10 min to get it depending on how busy they are. But damn are they good!! I want one now. |
Yep, I avoid McDonalds and the super fast food chains at all costs. I'd say I eat there once every 6 months.
Some kids I know eat there everyday. And my grandparents LOVE taking my little cousins to eat there. Yuck, they're already getting them in bad habits! Although, I still love going out to eat, just not fast food places. |

Heh, sorry 'bout that. I love that picture, what a freak. But really, it's just food with some unhealthy stuff thrown in for good measure. The more sodium I eat the more water I retain so I don't need to drink as much water, right? (joking, of course) |
Quote:
Might have been because the pureed meat filling was oozing out like a tube of toothpaste. Unbelievably gross. |
Quote:
The one time I ever got a burrito from there it did that too, talk about nasty. I have been there about 3 times in my life, all the other times I just get the quesadias (sp?). |

Heh, looks like Paul Dillett, Canuck bodybuilder - heavily photoshopped of course. He was a freak at 300lbs, but not that freakish. |

oh man Fesnelly, have you forgotten about Dangerous Dan's?? and their Coronary Burger: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...naryburger.jpg The Coronary Burger Special 2 8oz Patties, 4 Slices of Bacon, 2 Slices of Cheddar and a Fried Egg on top. Served w/ Fries and Gravy, Can of Pop and Mayo as a garnish for sure! Only $ 13.95 Here is the link to their menu... I kinda want to try the deep fried Mars Bars. http://www.dangerousdansdiner.com/ another burger offering from DD: Quadruple C "Collosal Colon Clogger Combo" 24oz burger served with a quarter pound of cheese, a quarter pound of bacon, and 2 fried eggs. Also comes with a large shake (flavor of your choice) and a small poutine. Only $ 22.99 |
Cripes... that's a massive burger. I hope that's for two people.
I've eaten at the DD but never ventured into Coronary territory. By the way, Leto, I think what Fres was saying we don't have is roadside joints. We do have plenty of diners. I put it down to the extensive highway systems of the US vs. the fairly simple highway system we have in Canada. As for Diners... I am all for the Lakeview Lunch and breakfast at the Logan Grill. |

Baraka... you aren't human.
That said, perhaps you are the answer to the scourge that is Giant Hamburger. http://finearts.uvic.ca/historyinart...7_3T-wimpy.jpg |

You may be right. It seems that our roadside joints have corporized, as in they have taken the form of Tim Horton's almost everywhere that I drive. I do fondly remember the Nipigon Cafe in, um...Nipigon. Are you getting homesick? |
I have been happy with McD's new breakfast burrito.
I'd get one now but I missed the turn over time :( |
I stopped eating at McDonald's (and every other fast food place) once I figured out that Wendy's has the chicken sandwich combo + chili + diet drink for 600 calories. You can't beat that. That's about what a normal meal with proper serving size will set you back and it's from a damned fast food place. Just the french fries at a fast food place has more than that and you get the whole combo and drink.
|
Quote:
Of course I can just blow calories out of the water with the next meal... which is the norm. |
Quote:
|
I forgot to say thanks for th wendy's tip, there aren't many of them around me not to mention they are few and far between in comparison to McD. I think I pass 2 McD's whereas the nearest Wendy's is a good walk from the office. I'll keep it in mind when I encounter one.

Homesick? Not really. I just miss breakfast at a diner. It's hard to find good bacon here. As for roadside... I can't remember the name of the place but we used to go every year on the way to the cottage. They had the best burgers. Once it closed we started skipping food or we'd nip into the Tim Horton's drive thru. |
Weber's maybe? But they're still a going concern up past Gasoline Alley:
http://www.webers.com/highway11.html |
Not there... this place was en route to Bancroft. We used to take a round about way to get there.
We also used to stop at Burleigh Falls but the little place that was great expanded a few years ago and the food kind of went downhill. It was better as a tiny greasy spoon. |
What is up with putting a fried egg on a burger???

Side note: HAHAHAHA oh robot chicken. |
I love Superdawg. It's on my way home from O'Hare (Nagle to Devon to Peterson), and when I've been on the road, it's easy to stop to get dinner for The_Wife and The_Kids. I prefer mine with everything, and the fries are best eaten on the premises. And the chocolate shakes are fantastic too. When The_Kids get a little older, we'll take them there since it's a drive-in, complete with carhops.
A little closer to home, we go to Wolfies (sorry, no web site), but I usually get the gyro since I'm addicted to the damn things. The hot dogs are great there, too, though. |

I thought the same thing as you until I tried it, its quite tasty. |

I'm not sure about the tasty part though. :) Not much of a beet fan. |
I love Micky Ds and Taco Bell and all the rest. MMMMMMMM. Just a matter of taste I guess.
