The Ultimate Steal.com
I'm not sure if anything has been posted about this before, I did a search but couldn't find anything...but, I wanted to pass it along.
If you are a college student with a valid school email address you can purchase Microsoft Office 2007 for $59.95. So now I have all this: Access™ 2007 Accounting Express 2007* Excel® 2007 Groove® 2007 InfoPath® 2007 OneNote® 2007 Outlook® 2007 with Business Contact Manager* PowerPoint® 2007 Publisher 2007 Word 2007 Somebody will probably come along and rain on my parade telling me how all this stuff sucks but, pfft, I'm exicited! And for the record, I like Vista. :p Just thought I'd pass it along for anyone else who'd like to take advantage of it who isn't aware...I think the deal lasts until April 30. |
Well even though you like vista.. I'll pass this along to you as well. You might not need it but maybe someone can use it.

Cool! I like this. A thread of cheap and/or free stuff for the economically-challenged. :)

I wouldn't exactly consider myself someone who "pays" for software per se...
|
Yeah, you know, my daughter came home a little while ago and I told her excitedly about the great deal I got on the software and she was like, yeah, that's great, but I've already got it...*walks away whistling innocently* :p
|
I can get it all free, or almost free, down here. Only problem is it's always the Spanish version.
One more, of many, reasons learn more Spanish. |
Wow that's a great deal. A lot of useful programs for that price.
|
For me it's a toss-up between something like that or getting third party for free. There are a lot of Office alternatives out there, but it's up to the user to decide whether the third party app can or can't replace all the features in MS Office they need. Me? All I need is simple word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation tools. I don't need all the hoopla, so I don't need MS Office.
BTW, if anyone finds a truly good quality CS3 alternative... that'd be a heck of a find. |
I love this deal. I picked it up in September at the start of the semester and it's been great. the only thing I don't like about it is they didn't include a copy of Microsoft Project with it.

I really like MS Office, as much as I'm against its normally outrageous prices. Thankfully though I've always managed to get any software, or any OS for that matter, per niente.
However, that being said I despise Vista and the MS Vista Suite programs from what I've used of them at school. That coupled with the fact that it's only a matter of time before piracy controls become much better much quicker is leading me to want to start checking out some open-source alternatives (i.e., Linux). |
Cool, thanks for the heads up!
|
Also worth trying is OpenOffice. Works really good, has alternatives for Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and more cool features.
If you are interested in Free Software, check out the thread linked in my signature, a growing compilation of great apps. |
