ok.. so ive been thinking about this for ages now..

ive had this handle or nick obviously since i first joined TFP.

when i first stumbled upon TFP, i dont recall what i was searching for, but no it wasnt porn.

anyways, i joined TFP 'fordehelluvit'. i didnt really take my membership seriously and i conjured a handle that i thought id never see again after that day. i never did intend on coming back here after that first day. but something drew me back here time and time again.. and so my nickname stuck with me.. and ive now been here for about 3 years it think..and im really sick and tired of being called by my handle dlishsguy. the worst is..when someone asks me about the forum and my handle on it i queeze for a minute and laugh..

so after 3 years of being dlishsguy, i think im ready to make a metamorphisis into something else...something more serious than just a silly throwaway handle that kinda got stuck to me like chewing gum on the bottom of my shoe. and 3 years later its getting annoying.

so im giving TFP members the chance to help choose my new handle and of course with the permission of the moderators, get it changed.

so id like to put it out there..

what suggestions does TFP have for me?

This is a huge responsibility. Not only that, but we all know you as dlishsguy. Sure, it's kinda gay when I say it with a mustache while not wearing a shirt and articulating the "s" sound, but it's your name and you've made a name for it... so to speak.

I don't want a new, but more accurate name of: "snorted wine and peed my panties"... so to speak. :D

At least you aren't stuck with a completely retarded name like mine! You know you were not serious when you signed up when you have a handle like mine.

And I have always read your name as dishguy, only now did I realize that was not it. So I vote for Dishguy.... just tell people you like dishes, haha!

i guess id want something similar..but not something worse than what i already have..

another reason for me asking for tfp's input would be because at least tfp members would still be aware of who i was..

didnt realise that sports widow had changed her handle until i saw her pic posted in the 'me right effing now' thread...

and like i said i probably want something similar to what i have and not overly different.. i do remember WK going through a few handle changes but hes always remained the 'King' in his name..so everyone know who he is..

Maybe there should be a thread where people can post informing the rest of us of their handle changes.

use a symbol and then under the handle, where it can be changed. change it to: the TFP'er formally known as dlishsguy.

I always read it as "dishguy" too. I thought it referred to his love of satellite tv. I vote for that one. I also liked the name blablabla.

At least you aren't stuck with something like burper0831. When I first got internet access, I couldn't pick a yahoo name that wasn't already taken. I was burping a newborn baby at the time, who had been born on August 31. Burper0831 worked, but I've let it follow me everywhere (except here).

Dishguy is good. If you don't like it, try something you really like, a word you like, or something you would like to convey.

My original handle had been taken on another site years ago and I just decided to use the nickname that people called me, which had been taken so I just chose one of the number combos that was offered and have pretty much used it most places since.

Here's one I thought of

Switcharoo

Encompasses the name change, and the Aussie thing.

Seriously, I say you pick something that matters to where you are now spiritually and mentally. You're the one going through the metamorphasis. What describes the new you? Butterfly? Moth? Mothra? Sort of silly, except for maybe the last one, but I do think you need to figure out what best represents the new you. Or at least clue us in to what that is.

Dish would work too. I think something along those lines is still best. People will remember you because it is similar, and its really not that bad of a name.

then again "SNOW AXE" would be totally bad ass

I like this, you could change your name to an aboriginal symbol such as "fire or smoke or water or blood"......keep everybody guessing.

funny, i've read it as dlish-guy the entire time and it didn't sound silly. Until you pointed out it was dlishs. :) . IKIKAZZ has been a popular moniker on another forum I frequent... though I'm sure I should be frequenting it less these days purely on principle.

sorry guys..ive been absent for the better part of a week.

ive had my wife finally come to dubai to stay with me for good now. so ive just been 'busy' in every sense of the word :D

anyways..

so its given me a bit of time to think about this... ive taken all your comments on board..and i decided that a total metamorphosis was out of the questions (thanks jazz).

it would do me an injustice to change into something new without having some sort of resemblance into what i previously was.. (no im not the ugly moth whos turned into a beautiful butterfly..but i like the analogy)

dlish: easiest way to do it, and i know from doing it myself, is to go into chat and find one of them. jazz is the only mod logged on right now, and he is usually sort of sometimes in chat. or just pm his ass. password stays the same.

Got any ideas for ktspktsp? We've been trying to come up with one for a while... ketchup (derived from the alternative spelling of catsup/katsup) is more obvious, but from your change, I'm starting to think just "ktsp" might work.

Of course, after 2 weeks in Lebanon, I'm starting to think his name should be "zaatar." It has a sexy ring to it, and he eats copious amounts of it, so it works. ;)

as for a name for my lebanese brother? well i always did wonder what ktspktsp meant. so now i know.. "ketchup ketchup".... i do have a few ideas..

taking the "novowel" thing a little further from jazz..

or there is just the "ktsp" which is a no brainer..which is similar to what i opted for.

but id give the same advice that i recieved.. he's crafted a name for himself here as ktspktsp.. so a huge deviation from that would mean a whole new identity. its something i contemplated, but on the sound advice of some of the guys here i decided i was going to morph only slightly... i guess as long as everyone knows hes doing it and its not too drastic it should be fine

but then again "zaatar ou zeit" would suit him down to the bone
