Recommend a holiday destination to your TFP brethern a sistern
Financially, I haven't had a better holiday in my entire life than the Czech republic. It's insanely cheap, the people are friendly and there is a lot of beautiful, wild nature. Saw my first living, wild squirrel there. And my second, third, fourth, and so on.
Beer cost, at the time, 25 american cents over there. And three-course meals were about 3 dollars. The bread over there is strange, though. Very salty. I found certain kinds almost impossible to eat. And they do weird things to their food, such as putting eggs on steaks, and putting the fries below everything else on your plate. But Prague. Wow! Gorgeous city. Great places are waiting around the corner everywhere, just waiting for you to accidentially discover them. What are some of the best holiday destinations you've been. And what made them great? |
bermuda...the weather, the ambience, the company, and the water...
|
I ditto the Czech republic thing. For military enthusiasts like me, it's like a wet dream come true: medieval castles, 18th century fortresses, 20th century bunker lines... Oh, and then there's Prague... purdy. :)
Also consider The country and city of Luxembourg. The country is nice and hilly, with loads of pretty natural stuff, and the city is simply beautiful (again to a military enthusiast like me...) |
San Diego
Great vacation place. Not so good to live. |
to all (non-Aussie) TFPers, i recommend Australia!
especially Sydney, Melbourne, Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsundays, Northern Territory (Uluru, Kakadu and Katherine), Broome. wow, now i sound like an Australian Tourism rep. |
come to seattle. it's nice here. *squint* too fuckin bright today, but some of you people like that shit.
|
you ain't seen nothin' until you've come to British Columbia.
|
Depends on what you're up for.
Nekkid fun: one of the Hedonism resorts in Jamaica Wilderness: Northern Minnesota - try Brainerd for resort stuff, or Itasca for nature stuff, or the Boundary Waters for really roughing it City fun: San Francisco - tons to do, and it's ALL within walking distance. Or Vegas, if you can do it on the cheap. Other places I've really enjoyed are Zion park in southern Utah, Snoqualmie, Washington (check out the waterfall at the Salish Lodge - the one they used for Twin Peaks), plus it's close to Seattle, and Yellowstone. |
Mardi Gras in New Orleans - Everyone should see it at least once.
|
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. GRRRRREAT this time of year. Tell Sam I said hi.
Cozumel is a nice hideaway, too... not so touristy, but you can always take a boat into shore and jump into the fray if you feel like it. British Columbia! Vancouver is one of my favorite cities on this rock. Kauai rules. Australia is great, pretty much wherever you go. Peru & Argentina...lush and gorgeous, but a little rough. Go lose yourself on the Inca Trail for a week or two... Agreed re: Mardi Gras. Also, Tomatina is a hoot, as is Pamplona, but you just missed the BIG fun there. Yeah; I gotta agree that it all depends on what you're up for and how far you're willing to travel. I bet we could adjust our suggestions accordingly. =) |
Travel Italy.
Rome - spend a few days, see the fountains, ruins, etc. Leave before too long, there's much more to see elsewhere. Venice - amazing. Undescribable, just watch what season you go. Flood season is not that great. :) Florence - the crown jewel of Italy, in my humble opinion. This is the city you go to Europe to see. Lots of art, culture, good food, etc. Milan - great shopping, nice places to eat, maybe a little too trendy at times. Little Towns in Italy - make sure you stop along the way. Many towns have their own liquers to try, many others have nice, cheap places to eat. What to Buy - Gold and Leather are cheap. Also, check out the Gucci fashions, etc. if you are into that kind of stuff. Don't forget to take two bottles of booze home with you! Don't shop too much in Rome - it can be too touristy, and the prices can be higher. |
ummm isnt a sistern a sewer?
but anyway come to Florida. buy stuff. keep our taxes down. you know you wanna go see mickey. |
I guess Colorado is a good vacation spot.
We have really big mountains full of wild animals that eat people. We have the worst basketball team in NBA history. We are still 48th in funding for our schools and people wondered why our students kill each other all the time. We do have John Elway... the greatest quarterback of all time... and the biggest drunk of the NFL. Colorado is also the home of Coors Brewing Company... And I will be the first to apolagise for the piss in a bottle we've been serving you all for so long. Better yet... Stay the fuck outta Colorado. |
Home. Nothing like it.
As for Italy, I did not like it at all. The people were incredibly rude. |
the best place I ever visted was as port calls and they were perth/freemantle, and hobart, tazmania.

and where on earth have you been that you've never seen a wild squirrel? or do you consider the bushy tailed rats that roam our (american) cities domesticated? |
