Family Trees
 

So I got the local home improvement flyer in the mail yesterday and they were advertising "family" trees. What the heck, they skipped past "holiday" tree and went pc to the fullest extent.

I wanted to buy a friggin Christmas tree, not a "family" tree b/c I have no family this holiday .. they are all out of town.

I am offended that they called them family trees. WTF!!! :mad:

Get one elsewhere?

And count me down as seconding Daniel's suggestion of boycotting the stupidity. They sell Christmas trees in all sorts of places. Don't encourage this kind of ridiculosity. And, may I point out, that I'm an athiest and I think that this is rather over the top.

Just think of the fun you could have at this place though.

like I said in the other thread - I dont know many Muslim's, Sikh's or Hindu's that get offended by Christmas.

You have to wonder who works in the advertising departments of these companies. They go out of their way to try and not offend anyone but wind up offending many more by calling Christmas trees everything but. Even non-religious people know that holiday trees, family trees and seasonal trees are really Christmas trees. I can't believe that many non-Christians would be offended by calling them what they are.

here in dubai they are called christmass trees.

Here they are called Christmas trees as well... in fact, one of the big malls here, as part of the Celebrate Christmas thing that is all over the island is staging a Nativity Play.

That's funny. When I was in China last year around this time, there was a huge banner at the entrance of my hotel saying "Merry Christmas". This from the people who have banned Christianity...!!!:rolleyes:

Dave's in china right now....he was telling me about how the hotel he is in is decorated to the max with christmas stuff, trees an presents and little chinese girls in big black boots and short mrs claus outfits hehehehe (if you've seen the post about Mom is Santa you'll have a nice visual)

He promises to take pictures of the girls for me before he leaves hehehehehe
