TFP NYC - August 18th!

Ok people, it's time for another gigantic TFP meet-up. I elect New York City! I also elect my new apartment as the party central.

When: Saturday, August 18th.
Where: Bushwick, Brooklyn
Who: All you people.
What: PARTY!!!

Here's the deal, we have a nice big space with plenty of room for everyone. I want all of my TFP friends to come and hang out. This is an opportunity to come and meet your fellow TFPers and to just have a good time. Seriously, these things are always fun and they make lasting memories. We'll also be joined by some non-TFP "normal" people. OOooooo.

I wanna see some Canadians. I wanna see some midwesterners. I wanna see some southerners. Bonus points if you come from Europe.

This will also double as a housewarming party, so feel free to bring something to benefit the fledgeling liquor collection.

Also making a special appearance: The infamous bottle of Grey Goose! Signed by all the TFPers who have come in contact with it, its legend is awe-inspiring. Hank, you're not going to steal it this time.

hehe...i knew it all along...

ubertuber 07-18-2007 08:34 PM

I think I was supposed to sign it, as I was the one who bought it.

I'm so sad - this will probably be the first NYC meetup that I'll have to miss.

Infinite_Loser 07-18-2007 11:09 PM

How come no meetings ever occur in Florida?

Charlatan 07-19-2007 01:43 AM

You definitely need a web cam presence on this so those of us on the other side can peep.

so that I don't accidentally bump into my sister?

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

actually I love my sister, but still... now that ubertuber is in LA, he should be inspired by all the meetups here to get them going over there more often too!

fresnelly 07-19-2007 06:09 AM

I can't make it, but I'll be there (two kids in tow) in September for 10 days. If anyone wants to meet up over a hot dog in the Park, let me know. :)

SecretMethod70 07-19-2007 06:11 AM

:(

This will be two weeks after onodrim and I will have spent a crapload on gas, etc driving to Iowa for a weekend at a friend's house by a lake :(

MissGT 07-19-2007 07:24 AM

so I am told I have to come and "bring all of my hot girlfriends" really? is this a requirement??

Oh, I hear that...

Perhaps we West Coasters need to get together and pick a central location to convene upon for our own sake? Like Las Vegas? :P I mean, I'm going there in September to celebrate my graduation anyways...

Halx 07-19-2007 04:46 PM

Yeah. Hot girlfriends. Please.

warrrreagl 07-19-2007 05:36 PM

Wouldn't that rock your world if Grancey and I showed up that night?

"Honey, the Southerners are here..."

The whole party would freeze like in one of those old Westerns. "I don't know dear, they SEEM ok, but we don't have anything fried to eat..."

At this time, it's not out of the question.

mixedmedia 07-19-2007 05:50 PM

Me no can go.

Me sad.

Me cry.

Maybe. I don't make promises about going into NYC because of past experiences, but maybe.

zkara 08-08-2007 07:34 AM

QuasiMondo 08-08-2007 08:03 AM

Redlemon 08-08-2007 09:34 AM

I'm probably away that weekend, but just in case... how hard would it be to get to your place from Grand Central?

Crack 08-08-2007 10:11 AM

I'll come if someone can meet me somewhere are let me follow them to Hal's House. I am scared to drive around NY by my lonesome... Plus, Ohio is a looooooong way away... Maybe i'll fly.

srlsy, I am going to try to come!

My friend's GPS unit took us to Brooklyn, then the Bronx, then Staten Island, then New Jersey when trying to get to a venue across the street from Madison Square Garden in Manhattan coming from CT. That brought back the angry memories of the last drive into the city when I swore never to drive there again after my third trip across the Triborough bridge trying to get back to CT from lower Manhattan.

Halx 08-09-2007 06:09 PM

I would kill to have crack and MSD at my party!

Who would you kill? I need specifics.

Halx 08-10-2007 08:26 PM

Any of the Canadians.

Halx 08-13-2007 10:05 AM

Hey! If you are planning on coming, please PM me asking for the address and directions.
ITS THIS SATURDAY

JustJess 08-16-2007 04:26 PM

The Q and I will be attending. Of course, I don't have your fucking address, but whatever. You're in the GPS as a "point of interest", right?

Red, be in town!
MSD, just take the train. No driving. Driving sucks. Screw driving.
Crack, I am impressed!

Looking forward to seeing y'all!

QuasiMondo 08-16-2007 05:37 PM

This will work out even better than expected. My sister lives in Bushwick and I'm going to be spending the weekend helping her get one of her apartments ready for tenants. Hopefully it'll be within staggering distance.

ratbastid 08-16-2007 07:28 PM

Geez... At Jess's prompting, I just checked flights. And I could get up there for $180, round-trip. I'd need a place to crash (Hotel JustQuad is booked). I'd need my wife and girlfriend to agree. I can probably handle the second part, if somebody can handle the first.

Sion 08-16-2007 08:20 PM

didnt Halx used to live in the El-Lay area?

did I miss something?

JustJess 08-16-2007 08:37 PM

Yep. He moved to NYC and got married. Ta-daaaa!

Hm. The second part is proving challenging. Updates as things develop...

Halx 08-17-2007 05:30 AM

mr ray, you are welcome to stay. But we only have couch and floor space

ubertuber 08-17-2007 06:02 AM

It's a comfortable floor.

Is there anyone going from NC or further south that can pick me up on the way there and drop me off on the way back? :D

Conga rats my good man Halx.

ratbastid 08-17-2007 09:02 PM

My attendance won't be happening, ladies and gents. Halx, I appreciate as always the offer of your floor--and there may well be a time in the future when I'll take you up on it. But my finances won't stand a flight to NYC at this moment.

bobby 08-18-2007 07:13 AM

today's the big day....??? will we get pictures of the "Happening"?

xoxoxoo

quadro2000 08-19-2007 06:40 AM

We had a great time, and I actually don't think any pictures were taken! We did get to hang with Cynthetiq, his wife Skogafoss, Crack and QuasiMondo, and of course, the lovely hosts. They have a beautiful apartment, cooked some AMAZING food and have a nice group of non-TFP friends, too! (Who knew?) We'll definitely be back again (especially because we left our cocktail shaker there). We missed all of you who couldn't be there...next time, no excuses! :)

Cynthetiq 08-19-2007 06:45 AM

I realized that there were no pictures taken. Skogafoss would approve!

It was great to meet 2 people that I have never met before, Quasimondo and Crack. I was glad to meet you both.

Halx, thank you for opening up your home. It is really nice.

We tried to take Crack back to his hotel overlooking Ground Zero, and the NYPD had blocked off the area for some reason. Crak thout that it was related to a fire earlier in the day. He was right. It was related to a fire in the Deutsche Bank building where 2 NYFD were killed. So a short trip that was to take just another 20 minutes took about 45 minutes to circle around and around only to drop him off near J&R Musicworld since that was where he could recognize and walk back to his hotel.

JustJess 08-19-2007 08:28 AM

Huh. And we got home in about 30 minutes total! HA! Manhattan ain't all that, now is it? IS IT??!??!? Muahahahahahahahaaaa!!!

Ahem, sorry.

Yeah, it was a good night. Crack was a good sport even tho he blamed me for the disappearance of the wine (I did NOT drink it all myself!!). Skogafoss tried to claim she wasn't tipsy.... but her cheeks were damned rosy... hmmm... and Quasimondo was stuck listening to me wax poetic about my really awesomely friendly cats. The poor, poor man. They were both rather handsome examples of humans, too!

Halx and zkara were adorable in their color-coordinated outfits. No, I'm not kidding. It was SO CUTE! Y'all missed out on some *fine* burgers... stuffed with CHEESE. You FOOLS! HAHAHAHAHA, all mine, all mine! And shrimp cocktail, and pasta salad, and homemade guacamole...

You idgets. But I suppose there's always a next time... if you're lucky! :p

Halx 08-19-2007 08:59 AM

Thank you all for coming out. I said a few things in my journal but I also wanted to add that we're definitely looking forward to more. I'd like to invite some people over fairly regularly to have them taste my cooking. Who is up for it?

Esen 08-19-2007 01:10 PM

Well, Missed it, didnt check the general board in a while and well, oh well.
And Bushwick is real real close to where I live compared to the Bronx, That was a trek and a half.

I grew up in Bushwick.

QuasiMondo 08-19-2007 06:34 PM

Fun times for all, hope to meet again soon.

World's King 08-19-2007 11:50 PM

No pics? You all suck.

zkara 08-20-2007 05:52 AM

Thank you all for coming. It was a blast, and a real pleasure to have you all with us. I wanna do eeet againnnn!! :D
