License Plate (lawl)

Ok. I just got my new license plate in today, and I just had to show it off (before...you know...I get arrested and stuff)! I felt it was appropriate because I'm 24, and this what I assume most people think.

Well, I find it hilarious. Anyone else have an awesome license plate?

Cynthetiq 07-16-2007 10:45 AM

You sure you want people to see your vehicle license plate etc?

Just wondering and all...

Willravel 07-16-2007 11:02 AM

That's pretty funny.

Crack 07-16-2007 11:05 AM

Reserved for my awesome license plate picture

liquidlight 07-16-2007 11:33 AM

heh you got a laugh out of me. . .add a CounterStrike bumper sticker and it's perfect

fresnelly 07-16-2007 12:31 PM

That's pretty cool, but nothing beats this classic:

Ishamael 07-16-2007 01:31 PM

I can't put bumper stickers on my car. Would ruin the look! I want to though. :(

I'd be willing to bet that every single time I take my car out of the garage, a whole bunch of people can see it AND read the license plate AND can tell that I'm a 20-something female, that I smoke, I live near the beach, I own a cell phone and a bunch of other stuff. ;)

For the record, my license plate says WTF OMG. :D

I make the assumption that you live in California since you hail from Orange County. It used to be quite easy to get someone's name and address just from a license plate which is what I was getting at in my question. While it is a little more difficult, it is still possible.

Looking out for the privacy portion of our little community.

I hear ya. And I apologize for being sarcastically bitchy above... I have a confession to make. Not too long ago on another board, a very similar situation occurred where I was the person who mentioned privacy and someone else told me that I was being dense, because really, anyone who passes you on the street could get your name/address by looking at your actual car. And they're even more likely to do so if they can see what you look like IRL, not just on an internet forum.

:) They had a good point, so I paid it forward by "sarcasm-ing" you. :P Sorry.

Jetée 07-16-2007 02:03 PM

Because I don't speak "internet", nor have I been really trying to, these "supposed" vanity plates are lost on me. :|

This one, however, :D

Ishamael 07-16-2007 02:08 PM

I appreciate the warnings, but nah, I'm not really worried about anyone finding out where I live. I have a(some) camera(s) pointed at my car in my home/work parking lots, and insurance out the whazoo, so I'm good!

Besides, anyone that actually wants to drive to Kansas...like...on purpose deserves a medal.

Infinite_Loser 07-16-2007 04:19 PM

Nice plate. Even better car

Halx 07-16-2007 05:36 PM

in California, you can get a license plate with a hand print on it (it raises funds for some children's charity if you purchase it) and it would be perfect to have the custom letters: MSTRB8

Ishamael 07-16-2007 06:30 PM

Haha! No way would you have that liscence plate more than one hour before somebody reported it!

Frosstbyte 07-16-2007 06:48 PM

I've seen a license plate that says PWNED and another one that said EPCMNT (for those WoW players in the audience) which was a tricked out Nissan of some sort. My g/f and I were pushing 85 to take a picture of the plate and weren't getting close to keeping up with the thing.

Menoman 07-16-2007 08:40 PM

Not much I can say about that...

other than ....

Will you marry me? Funniest plate I've ever seen!

QuasiMondo 07-16-2007 10:48 PM

I can't believe they let you get away with using WTF.

Redlemon 07-17-2007 07:35 AM

According to Snopes, the A55 RGY license plate was NOT a personalized plate - it was a complete coincidence. Pretty cool. I wonder if they've received offers to purchase the plate? Or how many times it has been stolen?

When I requested the plate, I had to tell them what it meant. I got my WTF OMG plate back in 2002 before Myspace had taken the world by storm, so it was easy to tell them that WTFOMG = "Wait for MG". *shrug* Nobody asked me wtf THAT meant. ;)

Ishamael 07-17-2007 02:25 PM

I wasn't asked to explain what it meant, but I was so Nerd-Happy ( :hyper: ) that this might actually work (when I was at the DMV, that is) that I was trying my best not to fall into an uncontrollable fit of Girl-Giggles (I'm a guy). I think the DMV chick thought I was choking, or something.

Bacchanal 07-17-2007 05:45 PM

Funny stuff!

Sedgwick county plate.. you from Wichita too?

SirLance 07-17-2007 06:01 PM

Suprised that got through! Wait'll they figure it out.

Ishamael 07-17-2007 08:21 PM

Yup, Wichita. Decent town, i suppose. Plus they let me get my plate!!!!

xepherys 07-17-2007 09:22 PM

Ish, a Z3 and a WTF HAX plate... what arm of IT do you work in?

ok.. I've been playing wow since 3 days after launch and I got no clue what epcmnt means... Musta missed the memo...

Awesome plate btw.

Ishamael 07-18-2007 05:04 AM

epcmnt=epic mount

And I'm an EE. :)

snowy 07-18-2007 07:59 PM

Hopefully we're buying a new car in the near future, and I want to get a custom plate for it, since it's my first grown-up car! We're probably getting a Honda Fit, so I was thinking something like "FIT FTW"...but yeah, I totally want to get a plate with leet-speak on it. Is that dorky?

For my other car, which has to get new plates this summer, I'm just getting the Oregon State University plates. I have four letters to work with if I want it personalized, and I haven't given much thought to personalizing it. If anyone has any good ideas, I'm all ears. The car is a '94 Volvo station wagon named Baby.

Ishamael 07-18-2007 08:59 PM

Some other candidates!
O RLY
NO WAI
EPC WNG (Penny Arcade FTW!)

MSD 07-19-2007 10:02 PM

It's all a matter of personal taste, but if I was driving and saw a license plate with 1337 speak on it, I'd probably point and laugh at you. What is the motivation behind immortalizing played-out Internet catchphrases on your car?

Ishamael 07-20-2007 07:07 AM

Because I'm 24 and I drive a 2.8L '97 BMW Z3. If you saw that on the highway, you can't tell me WTF HAX isn't an appropriate response!

Crack 07-25-2007 12:36 AM

Here is my current license plate.
I get many strange stares...

Hahaha! Awesome!

MexicanOnABike 07-25-2007 05:59 PM

ok, i've looked on google and i still don't know what the fuck hax means. someone explain for the non-WOW playing people here?

It means you're using some kind of "hack" (an actual hack, a bot, a cheat or whatever) to be better at the game than your opponent...people usually say "wtf hax" to say you're better than they are or have some kind of unfair advantage over themselves and they don't know what it is.

In WoW this sometimes also happens due to bugs in the game. I've had buffs last longer than they were supposed to, including one that made me nearly invincible compared to my size...that was nice.

Plan9 07-25-2007 07:54 PM

Vanity plates are expensive.

I could buy a 12 pack for the annual fee.

Here they cost about $125. No way in hell am I going to bother with that.

Ishamael 07-26-2007 05:00 AM

About $45 here.

Adri 07-26-2007 08:25 AM

I think mine only costs $12/year more than the regular plate fees.
