FAO Shwartz monkey

If you have ever been in a FAO Shwartz you have seen the little monkey on the unicycle that goes back and forth on a rope. Does anyone know where you can buy one? My son loves it but I cannot find it anywhere. Thanks.

i will have to look closer to the one at FAO. I always assumed that the monkey used batteries. Now I am wondering if there is a rotating arm on the wall that raises and lowers the ropen and the monkey is just being moved via gravity. Thanks for the help.

Just ask the manager at FAO Schwartz where you could get it, and if they could special order it for you. If not, try the Toy 'R Us.

I am sure they know where this toy was ordered and purchased from.

i've never seen a tightrope toy that wasn't working on gravity.. I've seen tightrope vertical climbers too...

My first thought about the subject is that "Schwartz Monkey" would make a great insult.

Oh yeah, I want one, too.

They just closed most of the FAO stores, so that would have been a good place to get one. The one hear in town has one end of the tightrope attached to a clocklike device, with the arm making a rotation about every 5 to 10 seconds. Gravity is the only source of energy for the monkey. All of the potential energy come from the raising and lowering of the end of the tightrope.

It's an upscale toy store chain found in bigger cities. It's also been battling bankruptcy for some time, so that monkey may not last forever.

Tom Hanks in big where he did the 'Chopsticks' thing on the big keyboard - that's FAO Schwartz (if I recall correctly.)
