Find a Penny
Alright, I have been seeing a lot of loose pennies lately. Only I rarely pick them up. I have my ridiculous reasons.
Will you pick up a penny if you see it? |
Yes, I always pick up any money I find, even though a penny is worth basically nothing nowadays. It's still better in my pocket than lying on the ground.
|
I pick it up if it's heads--it's a lucky penny then!
|
YES: I LIKE TO _ YOU AND _ WITH YOU, TOO.
|
i'll pick up any kind of money but pennies are picked up when no one is looking. no reason really. dollar or over will be picked up even if someone's looking. "fuck you! i saw it first!"

You know I must've turned down like 3 cents this week. |
I don't, unless I'm in dire need of some change.
|
I always pick up money.....penny or not, finding money is fun. Hope I find some money today! It makes me feel good to find $....even one cents worth of money. :)
|
I'll pick it up if I'm cleaning or something similar. If it's on the sidewalk, though, I'll leave it there.
|
Only if its heads up :)
|
I always pick up money when I see it. Ingrained habit from childhood, I suppose.
|
Found pennies always feel dirty to me, so I stopped picking them up awhile ago. I don't generally like to pocket things I find on the ground, though I make exceptions at the beach. :)
Now, if it's a nickel or higher, who cares if it's dirty... that's worth something! :D |
We don't have pennies here, but even though our money's worth alot less than the mighty $, I'll still pick it up. No matter how big or small. I'd like to think that if I found larger notes I'd turn them in to the nearest authority (like if I picked up money at work), but times are tough. I could be honest and poor...

Pennies don't do anything for me. Quarter and up only. And only if it looks clean. The most I've found was a twenty. My friend found $100. Asshole.

Heads up is good luck!

I'd probably trip over the penny but not even notice that tehre was one on the ground.. |
I always pick up pennies or any other kind of loose change. It all goes in my big 'ol mayonnaise jar. I usually collect about $600 every 3 years or so from the loose change.
I know a few people who throw pennies away in the trash....makes me cringe. |
I almost always pick up coins on the ground. In the Ozarks a few years ago, I saw an odd coin and picked it up- it was a steel penny from 1943. It's my favorite coin that I have.
|
Dimes or higher I pickup, nickels or pennies, not only do I not pick them up, i drop/throw/toss them.

This is interesting. Only in the last year or so have I quit picking up pennies. I'm pretty cheap but even I start at a nickel or more.
|
I pick it up if I feel like it. It's random for me.
|
Two guys sitting on a bench notice a very well dressed, obviously wealthy man walking down the sidewalk when he bends over to pick up a penny. The first guys says to the second...."Now why would that guy ever need to pick up a penny? He obviously doesn't need it." To which the second guy replies..."Maybe that's how he got rich in the first place!"
I pretty much always pick them up. My pocket change goes into a big bowl, and once every couple of years, I wrap up the coin and take it to the bank. Most times, I end up with $100+ which I go and buy myself something I've been wanting, but was leery of spending the cash. |
Seriously the penny should be abolished and all transactions rounded to the nearest nickel.
|
I carry pennies and "accidentally" drop them near a fine dame. They say girls are a dime a dozen, but a couple of pennies can fetch as much of a reward.
|
If it is clean I will pick it up. I just throw them all into a big jar. So far I have probably 10 dollars worth. I never plan on rolling them, I just want to get as many as I can into that damn jar.... just to have...
|
Heads up - pick it up
Tails - flip it around and leave for others. |
If I'm with my son, I'll point it out to him and let him pick it up to put in his piggy bank. He gets a huge kick out of finding money, and he's saving to have spending money next time we go to Disneyland. If I'm by myself...I don't pick up pennies. I pick up silver only.

If it's heads up and I'm not in a hurry I'll nab it.
Find a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck :) Childhood saying |
I collect my loose change in a tin box. It's been about 5 or 6 months since my last cashing of the coins and I have around $60 in the box right now. White coins only. Pennies go to my sister. She has about $75 in pennies...
|
I cash in all my change around Christmas every year. Last year, I had $110.
I'll pick up pennies, assuming they're not dirty and I'm not in a hurry. |
I don't stoop for anything less than a quid :D
|
So you will only stop to pick up money from the ground on the off-chance that you see 1.9828 US Dollars?

there are some banks here that do have coincounters for free, hoping that maybe you'll like their banking services and get a new customer. I always pick them up when I see them. 99 more times and I'll have a dollar. |

Depends on where I am. If I'm walking down the street. No. If I'm in my house. Yes.
|
Some coinstars now offer the ability to get an amazon.com giftcard instead of cash and don't charge a fee if you do it that way. Since amazon just added a grocery store, even if you really need that money there isn't any reason not to get the gift card as long as you spend the money on things you would have to buy anyway.
My husband and I do not spend change ever, so when we go to coinstar we generally have $400-$500 worth. It's always exciting. |
I figure there's probably someone out there that needs them more than me, so I usually leave the pennies. Anything from quarter and up, I'll pick it up.
But I'm with WK... if it's in my house, I'll pick up any change. |
