Do those exercise walking shoes work well for crosstraining?

I'm sure you've all heard of them by now. I can't remember the name, but they are those shoes that supposedly give you a better workout while walking. Has something to do with the tilt of the sole I think. I was curious how well they work. Especially if its good for runners on off days. So anyone tried them?

I bought a pair of boots from sketchers that were what you were talking about. I read about them on an MS blog. The lady said they gave her some stability, so I wanted to try them out. Unfortunately I only had them 2 weeks before I was in the hospital for a relapse. (Not because of the boots.) Because of this relapse, I haven't been very mobile, so I can't tell you how they work, but am hopeful to be able to report back to you once I've tried them long enough. I can say that my balance felt better, but that could all be in my head.

Those exercise walking shoes tend to be pretty bad for your back.
