Woman Kills Man With Her High-Heeled Shoe

Woman Kills Man with Her High-Heeled Shoe
Mon June 9, 2003 09:38 AM ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Add "The Shoe Murder" to the chronicles of New York's crimes of passion.
A stormy relationship ended up on a Brooklyn street in the early hours of Saturday when a 220 pound woman sat on her ex-boyfriend's chest and clubbed him to death with her size 12 high heeled shoe, police said.

Anna Rhinehart, 40, told authorities she attacked Roosevelt Bonds, 51, in self-defense after he punched her in the mouth, knocking out her two front teeth.

The passionate struggle to the death began at 3 a.m. Saturday when Bonds saw Rhinehart at a restaurant with another man, police said.

"There was a dispute between them and the man was struck in the head and body with a blunt instrument," police spokeswoman Det. Carolyn Chew said.

Rhinehart was charged with manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon. "It was her shoe," Det. Chew said.

What can one possibly add to this story? Everyone knows that high-heeled shoes are bad for you.

So unoriginal.

CSI already had an episode about high heeled shoes as a murder weapon.

Anyone else reminded of this scene?

I don't know - maybe it's just me but pointy heeled shoes have always bothered me - I get this image of them puncturing into a skull or something if used improperly.

I don't get the criminal possession of a weapon though, I mean....it was a shoe.

Um, not sure about this, but almost anything can be called a weapon, if it's use has been/will be as a weapon. A baseball bat is a weapon, a piece of glass, a screwdriver....

One of the reports I heard on the local news here was that they fought alot and that they were "evenly matched." Whatever thats' worth.. she got her shoe and apparently that tipped the scales.

I do understand that, but criminal possession of a weapon, the way I take it, is something like owning an unlicensed gun. You know it's a weapon, it's primary purpose is as a weapon, and you are in possession of it illegally.

That's certainly not the case here.

All the more reason for men to wear high heels.

Actually, there's something in common in all cases I'm aware of. Whether the tool was a gun, a shoe, a knife, or a club, the true instrument was a hand! BAN HANDS!!!!

In fact, last time I looked, no one who wasn't already alive could be killed. BAN LIFE!

Well, I think because she was hit first, it it at least partly selfdefense.

They will prob try to prove that she used more force then she needed to, in court that is.

Yeah, but in Single White Female, she actually THREW the shoe.
Now, that's skill! I mean, if you're already sitting on top of somebody, you could beat them to death with anything.
Shoe-throwing.

I want to see that in Matrix Revolutions.

since it was ruled a crime of passion i think she was just trying to beat him up, as in, passion, without intent to kill, or manslaughter, mens rea(sp?)(well i know its spelled wrong) Anyway, well thats all.
