Another case of too good to be true?
I found this website that offers a bunch of magazines for sorta free. I guess they send you the magazines for free but then charge your credit card when the "free" subscription runs out and it automatically renews. They say 6 months free, but I'm not really sure if that applies to all magazines since some are offering 53 issues a year while some are only 6 issues a year. Another thing that I am a bit wary of is the "Veri-sign" Secure site logo for processing your credit card number.
I wouldn't mind marking on my calendar the dates when I have to cancel my subscription by, but I don't want to put my credit card number on a shady site. https://www.magazineoutlet.com |
I wouldn't. Do a google search on the url and scam. There was everything from random charges to one woman getting magazines she never asked for along with charges for them.

They do that crap at Best Buy! Five months into your free 6 they send you a card saying, oh yeah and by the way we are gonna send you a bill next month.
Oh now you arent! I promptly called and cancelled and owed nothing. Yet another way to take money from hard working citizens! |
Nothing in life is free, something is always expected in return. Credit card number, phone number, address, email. Then you'll pay for it in mores ways than one ;)

If it says free, and asks for a credit card number... No, that's ok.

Trying to cancel is a lesson in futility and patience.
"I'd like to cancel...." "May I ask why?" "I don't want it" "Well, what can we do so you would want it? You know, it's a very good value for only....." "I said I don't want it" " I understand, but did you know that for only $119.95, you're gettting over $500 worth of magazines and savings....." "What part of 'I don't want it' is a problem here?" "I understand fully. How about if we just give you the six month plan for only $69.95?" "How about I call my lawyer to get HIM to cancel this?" "Uh, I see. Well, sorry you weren't satisfied with our fine offer....." One friend said no thanks and they charged her checking account anyway...over $200 and they hadn't known this until checks were coming back NSF's.... |
