I like pickles

I do. The stronger and tangier the better.*

I also like Vinegar, so that probably has something to do with it.*

*So I thought today I might experiment with being that extra wierd poster that seems to show up from time to time on forums. I've never been that guy before... Kinda like trying on a pair of gloves before you buy 'em... see how it fits.

<GRIN>

I've been baking my head in the hot sun for the last 5 hours... and for 5 hours last night staining my deck... I think I may need a bit of a rest....

Leto 07-10-2006 02:54 AM

Well.. do you enjoy Strubs full sours?

Swirlie 07-11-2006 03:33 PM

Can't say as I ever had 'em...

Sour is my favourite... ummm... flavour? I don't eat much of anything with sugar... but put something sour in front of me and I love it. Don't like oranges, but love lemons. Vinegar is my favourite condiment.

By the way... I don't think the wacky poster thing is going to work out... I'll still post nonsensical responses from time to time, but for the most part, will go back to regular posting with a sarcastic twist

Leto 07-12-2006 08:43 AM

I agree, I think the sarcastic twist requires a little more intellectual involvment. Good Luck on your endeavour!

Oh , and go full sour: http://www.strubpickles.com/

DEI37 07-12-2006 05:47 PM

I love pickles. Detest vinegar.

Swirlie 07-13-2006 06:46 PM

Thanks for the heads up on the Strubs... I guess I'll head to the Extra Foods next time I'm in Okotoks!

I see they make pickled eggs as well... mmm... and pickled herring!

I really *DO* like pickles... or anything pickled!

I'm proud to say that I like pickles too, although I'm not a big fan of the bread and butter type.

I like vinegar too. I have fond memories of visiting Canada when I was younger, where it's "normal" to put vinegar on your fries.

Neither... it's just a bastardized combination of my first and last name...

newtx 07-17-2006 07:51 PM

Oh yes, I am a fan of pickles as well. Prefer the dill variety. I will have to try the strubs full sours.

Gilda 07-17-2006 08:08 PM

Big fan of the pickle here. I prefer either Kosher Dills or Zesty dills.

And I can drink pickle juice straight, like a glass of water. Mmmmmm pickle juice.

Gilda

oh yes it is big time. the best is when you get fries from a chip truck, and douse them in vinegar (malt is good) and salt and then ketchup. I just did that last weekend. mmmm.

Charlatan 07-18-2006 05:56 AM

Moved to General Discussion.

Ummm, pickle juice! I love, love pickles. Dill, sweet hot, pickles and peppers, bread and butter. I just bought some hot dill's that I haven't tried yet.

My fav though are Tony Packo's Pickles and Peppers, I could eat a whole jar in one sitting (but won't due to experience  )

I've never tried that, but it sounds tasty. I'll have to do that next time I visit Canada or try doing it here and have everyone give me strange looks.

Same here. Also the same for olives (the green ones not the black ones) :D

Apparently not everyone shares our taste for pickles. A must-see! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qv0CIdvEnMY

Now *that* is a well adjusted individual. Or not. Where the hell do they come up with these people?

Dill pickle juice = best hangover cure ever. (well, except for maybe getting drunk again right away...)

Seriously.

Also... NEVER throw your pickle juice away! When the pickles are gone, throw some extra garlic in and dump as many hard boiled eggs as will fit in the jar.. .leave for 3 - 5 days, and enjoy a new type of pickled egg! (Also, the garlic pickles as well... yummy!)

When I was young I would take some of the hot brine before it was poured over the cucumbers and drink it like tea... my mother, thankfully, is also a huge pickle\vinegar\sour fan... I never got more than about a 1/4 cup, but I loved the stuff.

Ahhhh... memories...

Wow...

So... aside from the fact that she is obviously insane... how is being afraid of pickles ruining her life?

Does she expect a pickle to jump out at her everywhere she goes?
Couldn't she just put herself in situations where there wouldn't be any pickles?
Maybe she could lobby the school to outlaw pickles... it seems to work for peanuts these days.

The more people I meet, the more I realize that we are all a little insane. Some, however, are completely whacked. In fact... lately... it seems like MOST of the people I see and meet are whacked.

Or maybe... it's just me.

hotzot 07-18-2006 09:08 PM

I have a jones for Subway pickles, I'd have just a pickles sub but my better half would look at me like I had a screw loose.

genuinegirly 07-18-2006 10:35 PM

We have a huge industrial jar of pickles here. they are huge. and delicious.
Pickles are incredibly good with sandwiches.

Eweser 07-19-2006 06:24 AM

I like dill pickles....don't really like bread and butter though....not sure I've had any other kind. I'm not much of a sour fan, so it is kinda weird that I like them so much....

Impetuous1 07-19-2006 04:48 PM

I love biting into crunchy garlic pickles and kosher pickles. Nothing beats topping a burger with a delicious pickle! Mmmmm....Can'tsay I really like the bread and butter ones. Green Olives are also great too.

SexyCat 07-22-2006 06:40 PM

I LOVE pickles-hot pickles, dill pickles, garlic pickles, pretty much any kind so long as they are not sweet. Sweet pickles and bread and butter pickles are gross, there is nothing worse then taking a big bite of pickle you thought was dill and having to spit out a sweet pickle.

My great grandmother used to make the best dill pickles ever, I could eat an entire jar and she used to let me :)

*Nikki* 07-22-2006 06:48 PM

I love pickles.......had some fried pickles with dinner last night. Anyone tried those??

I agree that bread and butter pickles are nasty though.

Craven Morehead 07-22-2006 06:56 PM

dill pickle potato chips rule

Fremen 07-22-2006 08:17 PM

Well, I'll gladly take you guy's bread and butter pickles off your hands.

Although, I did almost drown while trying to finish off the pickle juice leftover in a jar of b&b pickles.
I was drinking it a few sips at a time until it was down to the last cup or so, then decided I'd take the rest all in one swallow.
Big mistake.
I involuntarily started coughing and aspirated a bunch of it.
Took me a while to cough it all up.
Don't worry, I lived. ;)

pornclerk 07-24-2006 06:04 PM

I love pickles but they are so high in salt. Damn!

raeanna74 07-26-2006 10:20 AM

I went through a craving when I was pregnant for bread and butter pickles. I went through a large jar of them in less than a week sometimes. Now I'll eat a few but not very many of either dill or bread and butter kinds.

My Mom makes these pickles - I know not the real name of them and neither does she. We just call them Daddy's Pickles because they're Dad's favorite. She ferments them in a barrel in brine in our basement for a month or two. She'll scrape this mouldy slime off them once a week or so and then change the brine once or twice. I don't recall the whole process but the end result is a pickle is a very unique, aged, sweet flavor. Almost like pineapple juice just before it goes bad. But this flavor isn't bad. It's very, very good.

OMG you got to try that. I mean now. It's the only way to eat fries.

(I'll wait here until you try it.....)

I can't believe that you haven't had it that way, ever!

krwlz 08-02-2006 01:26 PM

Mmm. .. Pickles. My mom makes the best pickles. "BarRoom Pickles" I think is the name. From cucumber to pickle in like an afternoon, bit spicy, heavy on the dill and the garlic... Mmmmm

Tophat665 08-02-2006 01:57 PM

Love me them picklez, but not the B&B type (all my B&B pickles belong to Fremen). Any plant material pickled sour with or without Galic or Hot pepper is OK in my book. I am partuicularly in favor of O'Brine's Zesty Pickled Garlic. Gardinera (spicy Cauliflower, pepper, and carrot pickles) is great too. In the4 Cuke Pickle department, I am a bit at a loss. Claussen's Kosher really aren't spicy enough. Vlassic is pretty much worthless in my book. I Guess I need to hit Whole Foods next time I am looking for some good picklez and see what can be seen.

Oh, and I never met an Olive I didn't like.
